How Not to Run a Football Club - Official Discussion Thread

I am 83 pages in and am furious once again at story after story of what those cunts did.

I also remember those wankers slating us for boycotting. Several on here. If you are one of those reading this book hang your head in shame.

I wish I had a large amount of money to buy a copy for every season ticket holder.

Also, has anyone thought of hand delivering a copy to Karl!!

Potter will have borrowed a copy of someone & be scrutinising it for any libel action. But perhaps he's had his fill of court cases. 😂

Just finished reading all 1000 plus posts on this thread, having lost my phone on holiday. The book was waiting for me when I arrived home and I've already read up to the bit just before the colour plates, saving the final pages for when the current Mrs GT heads off to bed and I can get some P&Q to drink it all in.

I thought there was nothing left to surprise me in terms of disaster stories from the odious regime and the boycott days. How wrong was I! What an utter shower of morally bankrupt pondlife. Everything our new owner is clearly not.

It's a sparkling effort Foggy. One positive thing that sustained us all through the boycott was the friends and strangers with whom we shared incredible moments, and the new friends we made as the farce unfolded - live and before our eyes - in protests, meetings, courtrooms and on message boards, particularly AVFTT. I'll never forget being at the Rolls, sharing incredulous looks with others on this thread when his highness Sir Marcus uttered the magic words "31.27 million pounds". Thanks to this excellent and tightly edited pocket masterpiece, everyone can now relive this and so many other magic moments any time they want 🧡👍

Just in the process of re reading it, and realise Phil does get a mention in the book. P112, where Holloway badly reacted to heckles from a fan in the West Stand.

I think we all know who that was....😉

I don't (and never have) lived on the Fylde and always felt somewhat detached from the protest, although boycotted games etc. I loved the way the book filled on gaps in my knowledge and also huge respect to those people who really put themselves out in their efforts to bring about the changes at the club. I owe you all a big thank you. I no longer feel the pain these days, life and the club have moved on. What really hit me was the timeline on how long the nonsense went on.

Absolutely stupendous book. Possibly the best sports related book I've ever read. It is also written like the manuscript for a film, which would be brilliant.

The coverage of our club from the early days of the vile ones ownership up to Simon Sadler's tenure is impressive. The fact checking must have been arduous to say the least. The revelations kept coming and the way he included everything pertinent to the crazy comings and goings is nothing short of brilliant.

Well done @NathanFogg

Ordered a 2nd print run and is close to selling out the first run of 2.5k books. Thank you everyone!
It’s a great read. Very well done. On my second run through of the hardback now. I like the sizing of it by the way…really handy to slip into a work bag undetected!

Thank you very much!

Sorry am late to the party but got mine at the weekend and ploughed my way through it on my week off. As others have said a really good, easy read and in some ways it actually feels like it happened to another club now. Important book for any football fan going through the same bad owner crisis.

Well, the book arrived yesterday morning and I'd finished it by early evening!!! What an excellent book, superbly written and tells the horrible details in great depth.

Well done Nathan Fogg!!

collected it from the Amazon locker this afternoon and already up to the Premier League. One or two statements in it have shocked me though

"a friend of Karl Oyston" . . . . I didn't realise he had any

Finished it today. It’s a great read and I hope the wider world also reads it as I’m interested to know how non-Blackpool supporters react to it. We became immune to some of the elements that when I returned to them I realised were outrageous and (hopefully) don’t go on anywhere else.

Well done Foggy. 👍🏻
