Stan Mortensen signed good players and played attacking football home and away.Has to be Billy
Alan Suddick and Alan Skirton as wellYes it was a great time here while Morty was managing...and he brought Green and Hutch in too.
As with Holloway the players all seemed to enjoy playing for him too.

I think it's great that quite a big section of our fan base would go for a manager managing in a less successful era than many . It Shows what passion , integrity and an effort to play good football under any circumstance can do and the bond it creates.
Billy Ayre will never be forgotten
Totally agree td53 I had the pleasure of meeting Billy and what you saw is what you got, loved the man everything I admire in a person.Billy Ayre was an amazing fella and there was no sense of him grandstanding or game playing. He was just an honest and passionate man. Also, the number of young players he brought through was terrific. Not all of them were top class but think about how all of these were in and around the squad within a season of each other.
Sinclair, Wright, Bonner, Beech, Mitchell, Gouck (off the top of my head)
We really should have something prominent named after him. He means more to me than Ollie. I'm not demeaning Ollie or his achievements but Billy was absolutely committed, an absolute gentleman and was treated abysmally at the end and in my mind he's a true legend.
