Jerry to Swansea??

"and personally if Phil says that I'm inclined to believe it is"

LOL
Could say the exact thing to you.

It was confirmed that we rejected 2.5m from an unnamed club in May and you think we held out a month longer... just for 500k? When it was reported that we wanted 4m minimum? And three other clubs bid as well?

No chance we didn't get the maximum here.
We probably held out until the STs had been renewed.

Really don’t and never will understand why people think we would get 4m plus for him. It was always going to more around 3m.

You think we rejected 2.5m in June from Leicester, just so STs could be sold, only to sell him for that exact price now?

Don't be ridiculous.
Why’s it ridiculous, he’s gone hasn’t he. I didn’t dream up the fee, it’s been mentioned by several journos, who unanimously think it’s a steal.

Not on about the fee, on about you saying we probably waited to sell him for ST sales.

That's nonsense.
I didn’t say that at all, if you’re going to comment on other posts read the m correctly and understand what was said before you reply. You asked why we would wait one month before accepting the same amount. I said because ST sales have now been made, meaning if they sell favourite players early, some might not renew. Once you have purchased, no matter who’s sold you have bought your ticket.

So you said that the reason we didn't sell him was because we waited for Season Ticket sales then, which is exactly what AT said....😕

So what have we received to date exactly?
I don't know the terms of the installments, but my understanding was that it was £2M up front, £2M on the drip and then add ons (the add ons will be appearance / performance related and percentage of future transfer fee's etc..) why?

So what have we received to date exactly?
My guess it’s nowhere £4m.

Ah you've edited your post.... Why does it matter ... We got a £4M Fee... When we get it has no relevance on the actual amount we ultimately receive does it? It's still £4M.... FWIW, most transfer fees will be structured in that kind of way (including the ones we pay out)

It's incredibly common these days for transfer fees to be spread out over multiple years, especially once you get into the millions. 4 million is 4 million. Blackpool also operate in the same market and are free to spend money spread out over multiple years too. Appearance fees, sure, that's not guaranteed. But this is. It's an odd bone to pick.

Don’t get what the anger is for. I love the bloke and will forever appreciate his efforts in tangerine, but he scored 22 goals in 80 championship appearances… He’s hardly the lower league answer to Erling Haaland.

Take the money and reinvest. Keep doing it time and again, and we’ll get somewhere over the longer term. Patience.

As Darling said in the final episode........................................................ 'Bugger'

He will never find a set of fans that adored him as much as us; good luck Jerry lad and thanks for the memories and goals!
Add to that Bowler. If it's all about the money I hope when he finishes his career he's happy because he was much loved at Blackpool and will be sorely missed.

Let's face it, none of us really know what we got for Bowler or what we may get for Yates. The critical issue is what replacements are brought in, either as part of deals or separate from them. And that these are done before the start of the season,, so we can hit the ground running. The signings made so far are promising. Let's hope that continues, particularly in the calibre of our forwards.

Given time we’ll find out what the true transfer fee will be with add -ons etc. For me 2-3 mil will be about right for Yates. The club will re-invest and we move on. Some of the school boy opinions are bloody stupid on here.

Anyone who says they know what we got for him outside the club is telling Porkies, factamundo

In years to come, when we talk about Jerry, I will always remember him as the Duracell bunny. Cannot ever remember a player who could run so much, game after game after game. Goalies must hate playing against him, he pressed so quickly.

Good luck Jerry, you won’t need it of course, you will be missed here, not only for your goals, energy and tireless running, but for your personality.

Jerry has a great personality which will be badly missed, and his work rate is fantastic - his best asset. I really hope he does well at Swansea and definitely deserves to stay in the Championship. BUT I do have doubts about his quality at the higher level. If Swansea are on a definite push for promotion, I'm not convinced that Jerry will be a key part of that push. Hope he doesn't turn out to be a "squad" player.

He will be a huge miss, such a great character.

He gave absolutely everything for our club and couldn’t have wished for anything more from a player.

Some great memories along the way. Good luck to the lad.

Just hope we have identified someone, whoever that may be that can give us something similar and can bag us 20 goals plus this year.

Hoping it’s a straight fee / lump sum upfront. Getting stung & burnt with add ons & clauses like Bowler’s transfer should make Sadler wary of these.
Personally the £2.5 upfront is prob good business if Rotherham’s chunk has already gone out (ie fee of say £3-3.1million if the sell on is 20%).

The reality is Critchley never rated Jerry in the same way as us. I think he prefers his players to be a bit more compliant on and off the pitch. We will miss him, but he owes the tangerine shirt nothing and will be one of those players who will always be welcome back here when his career is done.

Good luck Jerry, you deserve your chance to progress.
Swansea FC are a footballing team, so should get some decent service, bang in the goals, and rip it up.
They're taking a punt too - in the hope Jerry realises his potential.

It’s not a done deal yet until contracts are exchanged.

It could still be scuppered. Particularly if ‘that’ photo which was doing the rounds last season was to become public 😂

Mind you he’d never want to play for us again if it did.

Mansford is to blame for Jerry leaving. If Mansford hadn't recommended his mate Appleton to Simon Sadler we'd still be in the Championship imo.

Mansfords alright now, Jack
