Jerry

Rumours are that Ballard is a done deal. Can see Simms also coming back as well, he was very coy in his post match interview

Contract duration aside, I think he'll want to stay anyway. He's at a championship club as someone has said, but he looks as if he's also enjoying the rapport with the fans now that a few can attend. I'm guessing he didn't get much of that at Rotherham? He's playing in a system that works with teammates who have gelled as a good footballing side. He looks as if he loves it here.

In another regime he would have been sold on to make a few Bob for the club (owners). In current times he will be made to feel valued and its clear he’s happy here so I would expect him to be a big part of the club for the foreseeable.

First time I've seen him not on a screen with Ian Chisnall mistaking him for Sullay Kaikai, and can understand what people say about his work off the ball you don't see. Like a mosquito you can't swat.

Will go eventually as the model looks to be aiming for buy low, develop, sell high and evolve, which is why we've needed bigger hit rates on the likes of Bez, Hardie, Nuttall etc rather than the loan lads who aren't ours, but he's going to be playing at a level he hasn't yet consistently so we'll see.

The bottom line will be money. Let's not kid ourselves, his wage will have gone up a few quid playing for us now. But if some other club is going to pay significantly more plus a decent transfer fee he'll be off. And if that was to happen would be with no ill feeling towards him from the majority of supporters. They'll all be on wage bumps presumedly, especially Jerry. If he knocks in 10-15 in the first 6 months in the champ he could go to a lower PL club, only ones in for him now are likely to be the likes of Derby, Forest, Cardiff, bigger clubs than us but same league, more dysfunction, he will stay.

I reckon he’ll stay for another season at least, he knows the fans love him, he’ll be buzzing at the thought of playing in front of us, he’s got probably the best manager in the CHAMPIONSHIP who is capable of bringing his game on to the next level, he knows what a great team/ squad he’s got around him, Simon will give him a substantial wage rise & let’s face it look at how long it took him to get going for us- would he really want to move on & have to prove himself at another club again, for what? -1k-2k extra in his pocket
Jerry is staying

A different result yesterday and we’d have struggled to keep hold of him had a Championship club come in with a £2 million pound bid.... However today he’s worth a hell of a lot more. It’d take £4-5 million to get him and there’s not a Championship club out there likely to spend that money on a striker who’s only scored in League 1 for one season. Any club with that money is shopping in different markets.

Firstly I hope he wants to stay at a club that has greatly contributed to his step up to be a league 1 top goal scorer, now all the media/agents want to do is build people up before they have really consolidated things. The agent's have an eye on an earner & not what's in the players best interests. We've seen many players lured to higher levels & ultimately fail & fall back to their previous level & in some circumstances never recover, not all I add. Surely it would be more sensible to continue to ply his trade with the support system he currently has round him & to learn to walk in the Championship be fore he starts running metaphorically speaking. You only borrow footballers mainly & one team players are even more of a rarity these days. Whatever he decides to do or is persuaded to I can only wish him well. He seems to have a really likeable roguishness about him. 👍 😀

I wus there and for me, Jerry was MOTM. He was everywhere, cutting out passes, worrying their defence, linking play and setting up Kenny.
He also gained possession by catching their midfielder napping in the build up to our first goal... and that wasnt the one he assisted directly. So glad he's ours

Didn't know which thread to post this on, a Jerry one or a Critch one but I was absolutely cursing Critch when he took Jerry off. Yep only a couple of minutes left but was thinking what if they score? Our best striker has gone off and we'll need him in extra time. Needn't have worried though.

I thought exactly the same. However, if he had cramp after 70mins he probably wouldn't have been effective if we'd gone to extra time.

I think as far as players decision, they will all want to stick with this coach who has done such magic. Another Season of development and one or two might get Premier offers, so why wouldn't they stay?

Players will generally go to the highest bidder, providing it works for the players family.

Do not kid yourself otherwise - and I agree with them and do not blame them.

Yes there are exceptions, but most are trying to build financial security - as most people would.

How much is the going rate for a young Championship striker with a great last season under his belt?
I’m guessing it’s lept up to £10m for him?

No way he would leave this season, we are exactly the sort of club that would be looking to sign him. Everything has worked out perfectly for our best players’ development if they stay on at least another season.

Heard Forest were very interested but read a quote from someone at forest saying that if we go up he's unlikely to leave, so not too worried about that, it'll be the biggest and most exciting challenge of his career next year, he'll be buzzing.

MD: What are your thoughts on Forest being linked with Jerry Yates and Siriki Dembele?

SC: “I think they will both have quite a few clubs interested.

“Jerry Yates has been doing really well and helped get Blackpool to the play-off final. I’m sure the outcome of that is likely to have a bearing on his future.

“If Blackpool go up, he’s probably more likely to stay with them. If they don’t, then if he does want to test himself at the next level, that gives those clubs who are sniffing around a boost to their hopes of signing him.

It will need a very big offer for us to consider selling. Without that, there’s no real value in Jerry wanting to leave when he’s got the prospect of a new season at a higher level.

You’d also think that Ballard and Simms - and their parent clubs - would be interested in testing themselves in the Championship next season.

Does this guarantee Jerry stays or will it be a struggle to hang onto him?
99.9% certain he will stay, especially how he says he’s buzzing for the new season. I also think he has a bit of a love in with the fans, he’s a top top guy and a top striker.
I think he’s gonna stay for at least another season, just so he can run into the stand after scoring and then have a pint with the lads behind the goal 😂😂

He’ll stay, the lad loves to get on the piss and there’s nowhere better in the country than the Gold Coast for that!

Unlike the previous regime we know that players will not be sold unless for top dollars. We are also confident that any transfer money will be re-invested in the club.

3 years left on his contract so would take silly money for him to go. He’ll be hear for at least one more year

It probably doubled the fee we would be willing to listen to. Ultimately all players have a price but with Sadler I am convinced it would be much higher and more likely to be reinvested than under the previous owner.
