Jimmy Armfield Mural Update 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Not seeing any perceivable improvement myself I’m afraid. I think it’s unfortunate and not the direct ‘fault’ of anyone, including the artist, to deliver something most supporters would recognise as JA to honour him and the club. I think the majority of feedback from here has been fair and constructive about the piece. And no faulting the Armfield Club lads for working hard to get this right, every respect due to them for even making this happen at all.

As I posted previously I do feel a bit for the artist in respect of his main feedback has come via his Facebook page where I suspect his followers don’t know what JA really looks like. FB is not a place you will get honest feedback, and certainly not in a situation like this. So the artist probably feels surprised by the feedback from here, if he has seen it.

And just to give my honest view, the eyes are still quite wrong and I am now not sure that in the artists style he will get them right, in the way we’d like. The mouth also looks more off than before. And the shadowing just doesn’t look right.

Appreciate the artist trying again but I’d be with those who think another route may be required.

It’s beyond obvious that Jim is hard to capture in the cartoon style that the artist has. It’s also a case that you can tinker too much and make things look worse.

If sticking with this style and this artist I’d leave it how it is. If not then I’d start again from scratch with someone else.

A certain poster who loves to jib away at things. Still waiting to hear how much he contributed that gives him right to criticise others' honest efforts.
Ohhh what a wonderful world we live in... where money buys you a right to an opinion... especially on something artistic.

You misread entirely what I am saying. This is not about money it's about mischief making from someone with form for it going all the way back to the boycott. Anyway I'll leave it there.

Fair enough. Maybe I did misread your point. I didn't read the rest of the thread in all honesty so perhaps i should...

Are you happy at throwing money at useless mural, Im not. Clever dick clique.

Hmm, I wonder what made a certain poster think I was referring to him? Draw your own conclusions folks.

Look at the image of the Queen at the Queens Arms, Audenshaw by a graffiti artist Scott Wilcock. I was expecting something like that

Another picture of this.
Give the artist a ring.

It’s time this farcical situation was brought to a close. Whilst I have been prepared to give the artist the benefit of the doubt re the wrong brief it’s now becoming patently obvious that he ie either incapable or unwilling to put it right. I’m sorry Rox but the time has now arrived to consult the contributors and ask if more contributions would be forthcoming for a complete new commission. Paint over the existing and start again on what we thought we were getting, make perfectly clear to the new artist what is required, show the contributors what has been commissioned and get on with it. This is now becoming totally embarrassing and in danger of making us and, more importantly Jimmy, become a laughing stock.

I dare say if we could have asked Jimmy his opinion he’d have probably said it doesn’t matter.

Looks like our Jim is having his face redone
