This thread was started after someone hacked Joe Atherton’s account and spread horrendous rumours. If you are new to the thread Joe is alive and well and is on this thread later on.

Just seen on Twitter. Didn’t know him personally but everyone knew his passion for BFC. Awful news

Very sad. Didn’t know him personally but aware of him on social media, big Pool fan RIP Joe 😔
 
This is awful news.

Athers on here and tangerine misfit I believe on the old site.

Met him a few times and was tangerine through and through but more importantly a lovely bloke.
 
What absolutely terrible news to wake up to. I know he had been shielding for a long time and had only recently ventured out for the first time. He was very positive about all things football this season. Spoke to him a few times without really knowing him.
RIP Joe.
 
Fucks sake, that terrible! I don't know Joe personally irl, though seen him at loads and loads of games but he's been a pool fan forever and a good lad online. Really sad news that. ☹
 
Terrible news. Had many conversations with Joe.
He was on AVFTT very recently.
Never forget his thread after the Fulham cup game where we would have faced Man Utd at Old Trafford if we had won,
Anti Oyston at its best.

How very sad and what a huge loss. Got to know him very well and this has come as a complete shock. RIP and I'm so sorry to hear this.
 
So sorry to read this, i didnt really know Joe but did see him sometimes at the games. Joe certainly never was a shrinking violet and i will miss his forthright posts. RIP fellow Seasider...
 
That’s terrible news. Most of us on AVFTT will have met Joe/Misfit at some way during a game. Tangerine through and through.

Terrible terrible news, I used to have beers all the time with him in The Boars before he moved away.

Great guy who will be very sadly missed, a man who was Tangerine through and through.

I am genuinely shocked and upset 😥

This news has really saddened me.
I'll always remember you behind the goal at Forest in the 2010 playoffs.

I felt a real.shock reading the OP and I've never met Joe. He's one of our AVFTT stalwarts though, obviously a huge character and a great chap. Very very sad news. RIP Joe.
 
Really shocked, what a lovely lad and massively passionate about the things he followed from Wrestling to Blackpool. One of those that you call a Blackpool friend and catch up at the games. A huge loss. RIP Joe. x
 
Shocked, didnt know him personally, just a bit of banter on twitter. True Seasider. He only posted 8 hours ago about how much money he had saved because of COVID and was planning a big holiday when its all over.

Shocked & Saddened by this news today . Joe was a top bloke & will be missed by all that knew him . My heartfelt condolencies go out to his family & closest friends . God bless Joe . It was an honour to have known you . Rest in peace .
