Jordan Rhodes on loan

Thats how I feel tbh. Oak-B and Rhodes suggests a lack of ideas and imagination to me. We'll see.
Oak-B and Rhodes don’t seem like the main men we’re going after though.

They’re punts (especial Oak-B) who may end up doing well for us.

I don’t think the club aren’t trying to get a marque signing with the Yates funds, I just think the market is hard right now and we don’t want to pay over the odds.

If you look up and down the division there really aren’t many (if any) clubs who are splashing the cash out.

Barnsley wanted Nombe for £1,000,000 but that seems unlikely so they’ve moved to League 2 striker Ali Al-Hamadi for £1.2m!

I think we’re very much interested in a variety of players, just waiting for the right player at the right price.

Deadline Day is next week so we’ll see what we’re made of.

I hope I am wrong but I don’t see him offering us much. He hasn’t really had very good goalscoring stats for five or six years.
As others have already commented he is more of a finisher than anything else.
Hopefully a new club and dropping down a division will help him have a good season.
I assume someone has leaked this to attract more last minute interest from other L1 clubs? Unless he has already signed this will be too late for tomorrow anyway.

If we don’t buy a striker for a considerable fee by the end of the window I will be shocked.

I thought the Joseph/Yates swap was a great deal as long as we bought another striker with the money too.

Rhodes adds good experience, but we certainly need more.

Based on so many transfer window debacles, you win the prize for the fan with the lowest shock threshold.

By the time the have dithered and buggerd about the right players will have gone elsewhere and we will, as usual, end up with another panic buy, ala Dale, on the last minute.

what’s this guy will bring is hopefully movement and power up front
yes disn’t score enough , but hopefully he creates spaces for lavery or who ever to get the goals we badly need
if we can get 35 plus league matches from him and he can chip in say 10 goals , it’s going to be worth it hopefully 🤞
still need a number 10 thou or a play maker from middle can get extra goals
strikers need service

Maybe but. I'm not and never have been a fan who expects us to splash the cash. We have a budget that is one of the bigger ones in L1 but those expecting us to spend the Yates money on big fees dont understand how our budget works I think.

I'm just not sure we are signing players that are as good as we can afford. Only Norburn and Weir really are better than what we had and you could argue Trybull could do Norburn's job. Pennington makes sense though we already had Eki Connolly Casey Hubby and Tharme. Will Morgan and Oak-B prove better than Dougall Virtue and Carey? Did we need them?

I'm not sure we are very smart at identifying players. Or where we need them. We need wide and attacking players. The next week needs to see some inspiration in those areas. Rhodes wouldn't be my gut instinct but he may deliver at this level.

I will wait til the end of the window to make my judgements paulco

What are Hudds fans saying?
About Crainey? He's far too old, 42 now which for Scottish people is the equivalent of 60, legs went ages ago, Don't think he's got it anymore at any level.

But then again, Leeds fans were wrong about him...

His experience may prove invaluable to others regardless of how many he scores himself. Its how many we score collectively.

That's not to say a level down with fresh surroundings he may prove an inspired signing on the goals front anyway. Are we stronger if he comes?.Absolutely

I'd be more shocked if we DO, spend a considerable fee on a decent striker!!!
It's just not the Blackpool way is it!

I obviously think it would be worth it for multi millionaire Simon Sadler to spend a million or so to bring in the quality striker that fires us straight back up.

One million or so spent now, returns what?, 8 or 9 million next season by being back in the Championship!

What did Kyle Joseph cost?

He'll need to be able to trap a long ball if our 1980s tactics are the plan.
And what's the story with Trybull - can't we flog him, if he's not going to play?

Don't think he'll score loads, but he will add some intelligence and experience up top and that will be valuable in other ways, probably most of all, to Lavery.

He was great 7 or 8 years ago but hasn't done anything of note since. OK, he may be perfect for L1 but I'm not 100% convinced. He's certainly not a target man and doesn't really have any pace. I just don't understand how he'll fit in with a high press or long ball tactics.

His past goalscoring record is impressive, but his other contribution to games is nil.

Aye, from what I've seen of him last season he was slow, lazy and barely noticeable. Now that was in a poor team in the Championship but the fact he can't get near their bench, speaks volumes. Maybe he'll surprise me but highly doubt it. Anyone who thinks it is anything more than an average signing can't have seen him play over the last 2 seasons.

Will he be any better in a poor team in League One, we shall see.

I wouldn't sign him to play alongside Lavery but he will be a good option to bring on in the last 20 minutes so that we can take Lavery off.
On that basis I think we still need another centre forward.

I wouldn't describe us as a poor team in fact the one thing I can say in those opening 4 games is that I've not yet seen a player from another side who I'd desperately want in our side. For some reason it's just not clicking for us and that's down to Critch to sort out.

Dave Bamber was 31 when he re-joined us in 1990 and was a major factor in our eventual promotion, scoring 56 goals in 108 games. We do lack experience up front and Rhodes will provide that. I hope we do sign another striker and winger before the end of the window.
