Less than 2000 season tickets sold...

Still not got ours so that will be another 6. No rush to do it, why would I want to pay it early rather than keep the money in my account.
Do you have some crazy interest account? A lot of people have no interest on their current account so I don't really get the argument.

As for why early, if the club had 6k on day 1 for eg they might spend bigger earlier.

Errr. Ever heard of….. Cashflow
For businesses yes. I'm talking about the average fan here. It's often mentioned on here about holding on as long as possible.

The majority I'd imagine will be like me where it made little to no difference whether they spent 349 last month or this.

Yet most hold on anyway.

Of course people hold on as long as possible… Cashflow applies to personal finances too…

Anyone who pays for anything before they need to pay is an idiot… simple as that really

Does that include people who (for example) left their season ticket money in the club during COVID?

Paid for mine by credit card the day after previous bill ended so got 6 weeks to pay it people's dates are different.

We did get to a semi and Wembley(paid extra for) and £20 off the next seasons ST though. 😀

Some might be waiting for the payday, completely understandable.

However the point was for those who have the cash and are just waiting out of habit or whatever, whilst also probably asking for early signings, is a little bit odd.

Especially as there's likely little to no benefit to holding that money.

@Critchknows seemed to suggest he had money and was just waiting because "why would I want to pay it early rather than keep it in my account"

Completely upto you, but can I ask what you are gaining from that? Genuinely as I want to know if I've missed some big windfall here.

I've said a potential benefit is if the club gets a lot of income in early it's helpful to the club, for obvious reasons.

I suppose the club could say that too and only sign people late August.

Anyway each to their own, doesn't make much sense to me if people are going to get one anyway and have the money available that they won't miss.

It doesn’t matter if you have the cash… you still don’t pay for anything before you need to. It’s pointless and daft.

Sorry, you’ve lost me…

I’m referring to people who pay for something before they have to.

It shouldn't be that hard to follow. I was talking about people who could have asked for a refund - but didn't. It's not that difficult to see the analogy.

We're talking in this instance about different forms of loyalty and altruism. Which you think is "pointless and daft". It makes me wonder what you think being a football fan is actually about.

Avoiding the latest pontifications of Bazbob the modest ticket sales thus far are a reflection more on continued poor management from Sadler. Obviously a relegation leaves a poor taste in one’s mouth so draw a line under it and focus on the upcoming season. Plan a media strategy for your manager, same for your chairman and director of football. Sign one of the loan players who was a success last season. It’s not hard to do if you focus on the positives and win/win. Give the fans hope, make them feel valued and part of the progress journey of their club and they will be incentivized to renew and excited for the coming season. The current approach or rather non-approach is baffling.

Thinks it more to do with some fans CBA with third division football whatever the price or marketing strategy, know a couple and a family of four exactly in this camp.

It’s quite a different thing really.

I’m talking about fools and their money 😉

So for some, where it makes no difference whatsoever, it's daft to give that money to the club thats sat in the bank or at home maybe, money I'm going to give them anyway?

Yet it can make a positive difference to the club.

There's always a few like that at any club, however the majority tend to stick with it and more people will be attracted if we have a good season anyway.

Looking at those fixtures, I don't think they'll be queueing down Bloomfield Road this morning!
But if the teams we're playing are worse there should be more expectation for wins. People like to see winning football.

We had better fixtures last season but it wasn't much fun watching us lose a lot.

All about mindset, for me am looking forward to a promotion push.

Yes, it’s absolutely stupid👍

The Club Owners set the deadline based on their own specific requirements. They can choose to set the deadline earlier should they wish to, but they choose not to.

On that basis, there is no benefit whatever to the club in providing them with money that they don’t want.

Then the club needs to show intent. Not seen any of that thus far.

Not stupid at all, makes zero difference to me and others, also gives the club money which they can use, if they want.

It also gets it done so nothing to worry about then, just sit back.

I presume you'll be doing yours on the 2nd then.

There's probably nearly 4k 'stupid people' and then even more who will renew before the deadline. 🙄

Yes and no, some support BFC and trust the club will do all it can. Fans can show intent too.

Yep… We’re not short of stupid people 👍

Probably past the 3k mark now.
Torycorner said it was nearly 3k last Friday and that the woman in the ticket office says it usually doubles in the last week.

Probably closing in on 4k now, as someone said 3.5k on Tuesday, from someone at the club. The ticket office were predicting upto 6k, hopefully more though if they put out some really positive news or make more signings.

SS stated the intent in the video. It's to get back up at the earliest opportunity. That's why he brought NC back, as he and the data suggested he's the best candidate to do it.
No he didn’t . He said he was the best applicant for the job, and that they had a good working relationship in the past. It has been all downhill for Critchley once he left us before so he got the job based on his prior spell at the club nothing else.

A statement without detail, dates and measurable steps for accountability is worthless.

The best candidate for the job within our criteria, that they believe we can get then... 🙄 That report they did pointed to him. There's no point it pointing out candidates without a filter that we have no chance of getting, but they are deemed the best...

"Yeah, we want to get back up and Neil is by far and away the best candidate available to us to do that" SS - from the interview

His prior spell is one where he got us promoted and kept us up, so as a fit for us it's easy to see the logic.

ST sales are bound to drop going from Championship to L1. Nobody will miss out in any game in L1 if they buy match tickets so many of those who miss games will elect to pay match by match.

I think too much is made of all this. STs work out around £15 a game. Get ine if you go a lot. If not, choose your games.

The one issue i can see is match day pricing. How many 26 quid tickets will we sell for Cambridge, Northampton, Stevenage? Some games at least need to be cheaper. Perhaps they will be.

Yep I agree with that

When I was growing up and started going to the games in the 80s very few people actually had season tickets, it was a privilege not a given

I only started buying a season ticket when the ground was being developed as you needed one if you wanted to guarantee the same seat at every match, that's all a season ticket really does

Now the season ticket is used by some as a kinda badge of honour and its utterly ridiculous, you can still be a fan if you dont have a season ticket

ST sales are a useful indicator of confidence in the club mind and the low numbers currently show that consumer confidence is low

I also agree that 26 quid is probably a bit on the high side

I dont think most do the badge of honour thing. And consumer confidence will rise if things go well. When things go well. They didnt last season. We need to sign players. We will. We actually know the score. The club is run in a careful manner, small losses. It tries to do its best with that. It needs to improve player identification. Critch did pretty well at first. Can he do it again? How much help does he get, cos he's first and foremost a coach. Can we find and sign the best players in our price range? If not, why not? Its a crucial aspect that we need to get right but its elusive. Its difficukt, but you need to get more player acquisitions right than you get wrong. Then you need to motivate them and coach them well. Its not as easy as some people appear to think.

I've still to buy my season ticket, I will be getting that next week. I was always going to buy but was hoping for a little more movement in the transfer market. Barring Jerry being sold to every Championship club, as usual incomings are kept very secret. Hopefully a big few days for Downes and Critchley as our squad starts to take shape before the players return to training.

Did the nameless report generating company also suggest Appleton and McCarthy? I have no problem with Critchley and if I were in Sadler’s shoes I’d have done the same.

No idea, am only stating what he said. I think Appleton was because we didn't want to start the process over after Rosenior didn't happen and McCarthy was apparently Badlads...

As mentioned most folk want to hold on to their cash as late as possible.
That includes missing out on the early bird special.
You can expect ST sales to go up significantly in early August.
