I see he is currently favourite or joint favourite with Duff. Must admit the more I see about him the more I like, and his philosophy is a good match.
At Derby - 'The most important thing for me is that we develop the way we want to play here, not just at first team level but throughout the club, and that is one of the reasons why I am here'.
And compared with Critchley. - ' If you perform and the team is getting results and winning, you stay in the team'
He is intelligent, a good coach, good with the media, and has experienced a lot of Championship football, both playing and coaching. Ticks a lot of boxes for me.

would prefer him to Duff

They are not going to be liquidated

I wouldn't bank on that.

CK was declared preferred bidder on 5 April, so they've wasted 2 months getting to here, League One's season starts in 7 weeks and 3 days, is there now time to get out of administration before then?

Will the EFL allow them to start the new season whilst still in administration? I can see a scenario where they might be allowed to compete based on season ticket sales and an ultra-tight budget, but that's far from certain.

The players are a big issue, they only have five registered and I suspect some of those will be sold, so what are they going to do? They're not allowed to sign anybody at the moment, maybe the EFL will allow them to recruit a handful of out of contract players on low-end L1 wages, maybe they'll be able to fulfil the fixtures, but they'll be hammered every week and headed for L2, will anybody be interested in buying a club in that position?

Best case scenario, they're able to get out admin around the end of next month, pick up enough trialists and loans to survive in L1 and then start rebuilding in January, but it could be a lot worse.

Derby are far from safe yet. 7 weeks to sort it or be chucked out like bury as can't start season in administration. Latest farce is CK money being checked for laundering, not dodgy at all.

For me too much of a gamble he has very little experience in managing people and has limited coaching experience
compared to someone like Steve Thompson. We were a league one club when we hired Critch, but we are now in the Championship.
Also since the passing of Jimmy Armfield, there is no one at the club that has managed at the highest level to pass on their wisdom.
For me, of the names mentioned, I would choose either Duff or Evatt. But I would prefer someone better, it is the most important
role in the club and we deserve the very best person we can get.

Rosenior with Thompson as assistant sounds good to me, a young, progressive coach with a wiley, experienced in the Championship assistant manager who is also a local guy held in high regard by the fans.

He has extensive coaching experience. He has a UEFA A qualification. Here's another snippet from his early days at Derby.
' Roseniors position on the first team staff will, as well as working with players on the training ground, with a particular emphasis on individual development of emerging young talent, see him play a prominent role in pre match opposition analysis with the scouting and analysis departments'.
He worked first with Cocu at derby, then as Rooneys number two. He's also coached at Brighton.
Hes used to working with and coaching, players in the Championship, and has a long playing experience in the prem and championship. Not saying the others haven't got qualities also, but I think you're underestimating this guy somewhat. I think it's a prime time for him to move up to management.

I think he is nailed on for it and would be a cracking appointment. Professionally he is exactly want we are looking for and ticks all the boxes but what we don’t know is can he convince the board he buys into the community ethos, link with the fans etc. assuming he can convince the board I don’t see anyone else getting it. I know people will harp on about Evo but there is no sign we have approached Bolton in the same way we have for Duff and Rosenior, even if we did there are no signs of encouragement that he wants it. As for Duff mmmmm he might end up not getting any job and staying at Cheltenham I think - he just does not feel the right fit for me.

Pretty much my thoughts too.

I think this could be a decent appointment. I suspect he was doing most of the heavy lifting at Derby, whilst Rooney was getting all the credit, when they were outperforming expectations in trying to avoid the drop. I think Rooney played more of a figurehead role. If it is between him and Duff then I guess it will boil down to who impresses most at the interview stage...

Rosenior would want to bring in his own assistant surely.
I would imagine he will but in the short term I think he/we will be told he will work with the existing staff the same as Critchley was. I expect Garrity to be quietly and reasonably quickly moved on - the same way Dunne was - and then Rosenior will bring in his own appointment. Another plus is that Derby have some cracking young players which Rosenior will know all about - would not be surprised to see one or two follow him here.

Favourite with sky bet at the moment.
I just can’t see why he won’t get it, technically and professionally he is Critchley mark 2. He is also championship experienced and from what I have read was the brains behind the Derby team that did so well last season under the circumstances. When Derby came here it was Rosenior giving most of the direction/instructions from the touch line not Rooney. I thought they played us really well and deserved their win regardless of Chritchley’s ‘we were the better team nonsense’.

The deal at Derby looks like it isn't going to go through, just listened to a piece about it on Radio 5, they are right up shit creek. It will mean Rooney will be out of a job too! Rosenior would be my preferred choice along with Courts or Evo so would be delighted if he got it. I have a sneaky feeling he will.

Ye he’s still there, lower down the list but on 6/4.11/4 on William hill still.
Worth a tenner punt on Billy Hills.

Rosenior only stopped playing 4 years ago. 2 years as assistant with Brighton's U23s and 2 years assistant to Rooney at Derby.

Doesn't feel like enough, to me. Very risky, surely?

Exactly. He's been in constant, uninterrupted contact with the sharp end, with all the contacts that entails 👍

I'd be delighted with Rosenior, he may not have been a Head Coach but it is the next step. He has something Evatt and Duff also don't, recent in depth knowledge of the Championship. Think of all the research and preparation from last season, maybe links to attract some of the Derby kids as well.

Pretty decent article about him and his history here.

Interesting he spent time with Rusk at BHA U23s. Maybe he’d bring him on as an assistant if he’s appointed.

I think I personally I sway towards experience over potential, but he seems like a very intelligent guy, interesting quote from him in the article for me was,

‘I’ve studied for 26 years to ensure I’m the best coach I can be, to understand people as well as I possibly can. If I was injured or out of the team at Hull or Brighton, I’d annoy the stewards by watching the game from the mouth of the tunnel so I could practise making snapshot decisions from the touchline.”

Thing that drove me insane about Quitch was the standing on the touch line watching things change on the pitch and seeming to glaze over and not adapt to the situation.

I don't think we can afford a good, experienced championship head coach.
Duff and Evatt have more experience of being the boss, Rosenior has more experience of the Championship, so no obvious choice.
It probably comes down to who deals with the interview process best, if I was betting on that basis it would be Rosenior.

Guesswork. Not much experience to go off. What if he quickly looks out of his depth as a head coach?
I'm sure you can find positives and negatives about all the contenders.
From those that are in the frame I just feel that Rosenior is the best. The article a few posts up is the sort of thing I'd be telling the BFC Board and if I was interviewing him it would impress me.
BUT I don't have a crystal ball and he could "tank".
