Lioness's semi

Fantastic game. Aussies did well but missed some very good chances, and poor defending and good hassling let Hemp in for the second goal at a time when it looked like England would go behind at any moment.
England will take some stopping now I think. Very tough and resilient.

I said the same in a different match thread, when you get 2 decent teams, it's a good watch, especially when England beat the Aussies. 😂
The Australian equaliser was a great goal, it would be a great goal at most levels of men's football, a PL keeper maybe would have saved it, maybe not
The difference in the pace between different players also makes it very entertaining - the Australian centre forward was a real threat

Apart from Sam Kerr, England had much better players and were technically the better team. Spain are a far stronger side and will give us a big test on Sunday.

Anyway, it's good to see the Aussies losing at something.

With missing Williamson and Beth Mead too, who arguably two of the better players in the world?

Superb success from the women, finish it on Sunday.
They've been out a while, I know we have a few missing from outside of the squad but a bonus to have the whole squad fit and free from suspension is good news.

Spain have looked the best team in the other half of the draw. It should be a good final but I see no reason why England can't win. Goals win games and our forwards are a real threat.

To be resilient enough to concede an equaliser (fantastic goal btw), in the host nations back yard, and still go on and win under the pressure of a world cup semi final, takes some serious mental strength.

Better team and deserved win but they need to attack more when leading. While the game was level England dominated , but when England led by 1 they sat back and let Aussie get on top. I felt if it was a pool game and England had to win by 3 goals they would have dominated the whole game and done so.

The slight deflection off Bright made it loop ever so slightly, making it much harder to save. Great strike nonetheless.

After their equaliser, I thought they'd go on and win it, but the Laveryesque chasing got us back in front and we were not overtroubled after that save one shot parried by Earps and brilliantly defended from there.

England team were good and deserved a win..
A few doubts about the standard of refereeing though. Basically she was crap and a little one sided.
Can't wait for the Final.

Whilst there’ll inevitably still be ‘nay-sayers’ about the women’s game, anyone who’s missed this tournament (And not just the Lionesses) has missed out on a feast of quality football, with some fantastic athletes producing some cracking games, performances & goals, 99.9% played in a spirit & atmosphere that puts a lot of what I’ve seen of the mens game in the last 12 months to shame, plus plenty of passionate support yet zero reports of p*ssed-up fans, rioting, fighting, throwing chairs through bar windows etc….

Quite sure there’ll be some on here wanting to take the proverbial, but this tournament has, in my opinion, frankly shown what football should be like.

Looking forward to Sunday, big-time….🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
