Mick on Josh Bowler

Only because he knows the players, would use them in their best positions and wouldn’t play 5 across the back.
That’s all I’m asking for at the moment.
He doesn't train with the players he trains the youth team, i don't believe he's got any involvement at all with the first team squad

I don't understand this clamour for him sorry

I think to get back to our plan to promote our own youth he has to be given the chance.
I really do not think he could do worse than what we have seen recently.
Added to that we may pick up young talent from Scotland as well as Ireland.

We are not going to keep clean sheets with the defensive players available & flapper Maxwell behind them. Realistically then we need to score a minimum of twice to actually win a game. Like Insy said 6 predominantly defence minded & four go for it attackers (Podeva linking midfield/attack). Bowler has to start.

Age old argument for managers this one. I remember Gerard Houllier was so frustrated with David Ginola lack of tracking back and called him fit to burn. Dropped him from the French squad.
Ginola was an awesome player and lit up the teams he played for. Houllier was a highly successful trophy winner in his career.

They just didn’t suit each other.
Ginola’s style didn’t suit George Graham either when they were at Spurs, but every time Ginola got the ball the crowd went crazy.
Similar at Bloomers on a much smaller scale

We’re making this more complicated than it actually is. Bowler is our best and most dangerous player by miles. Therefore he should be the first name on the team sheet, no ifs or buts. If MM is too pig headed to be flexible with his ‘principles’ and realise that he may as well fuck off now.
Absolutely. I can't recall a worse team selection than the other night and I've been supporting pool for 60+ years. Leaving your best players out is utter madness. I said in a previous thread he deserves the boot. We should have won that game. I know SS should stay out of team selection but if I were him I'd be 'gently' telling him one more fiasco like Tuesday night and your out. CJ preferred to JB ??? CJ's the weakest player in the squad, can't tackle and is nowhere near as effective as JB. I am really disappointed in MM.

Dick McCarthy has been out of football too long

Unlike Holloway who watched loads of games and did his research on us before he took the job it appears Dick has just been playing golf and doing a bit of comms on the World Cup

He knows very little about the team and players of the club he's trying to save and is just reverting to type with his long ball run hard garbage

I will say again its a fcuking lazy and bizarre appointment
He only had one real qualification, he was available.

tosh here you go. Ir wasn't even Bowlers man. Bowler was covering the no 48 who was the nearest man to him. You really need to stop making things up as lies this can easily be proven to not be the case.

I had to watch that again to see if I had missed something and @Wizaard you are clutching at straws with that one.

you mean the player we got 4 million for and who the vast majority of fans here love. But hey, you love to be different don't you contrary Mary. You've dug that hole so deep there is no way out, eh?
Sounds like you’ve reconfigured you’d Dad Alarm👍

Reset to ‘Pastor Bowler’ … 😉

In fact if he would Pass Da Bawl occasionally that would be a bonus TBF.

Not sure about that t Ince was pretty special
Agree as we're Shelvey, Dobbie and
Matty P.
Still remember a bit of Tom Ince magic where he was near the touchline on the East. Flicked the ball down the line with his back to the defender, span round and ran the other side of the defender and left him for dead. He gets unfair criticism on here.

I love it how when we re-sign Bowler on loan 99% of our fans are genuinely excited. But contrary Mary likes to be different. He states he's coming round to the way of thinking that Bowler ain't good enough. I gave you the title contrary mary for a reason. You've openly stated you deliberately like to take the opposite point of view on occasions. So keep digging.

OK ..

I just like to get behind the manager and be positive. 👍

Sorry if that goes against the grain

If Bowler is not started after being involved in 2 goals next Saturday, I might start the Mccarthy out chants

I could see where he was coming from to be honest. Josh kind of ambles back looking a bit like John Wayne strolling into a saloon bar.
Is this because you said Demi Mitchell was better?

How’s he doing at Exeter? 😊

I think everyone knows Bowler is disinterested running the other way, that’s not his game etc. But for what he gives you the other way we should be building the team round him.

A simple tweak is that you get 1 of the midfield 3 to move over 5 yards to the right when we attack so if it breaks down we’ve got it covered. Liverpool have done this for seasons to accommodate what Trent Alexander-Arnold brings offensively. Granted we aren’t Liverpool but we’re in the bottom 3 and possess one of the best dribblers and wingers in the League. So many teams would want him.

From what I’ve seen so far, Mick would probably have had TAA on the bench and played James Milner.

Shame we couldn’t have got him back tbh

I really don't get why you don't rate Josh. He's the best player at the club by some distance with the exception of Jerry, so what if his tracking back isn't the same standard as say, CJ, he has to be the first name on the team sheet with Yates, we have to win games and leaving out your best player at creating chances and scoring goals and putting the fear of god into opposition defences.

Instead of arguing with 20's who won't let go (although he's right), just admit you don't rate Bowler that much and we can move on and I'll bang you on the head with one of Josh's golden boots when I next see you! 🙃

Oh and the manager is a dinosaur but he's here now there's fuck all we can do about it but we can reassess at the end of the season and the spotlight then has to be on Sadler and BB.

I’m not sure I’ve said anywhere that I don’t rate Josh.

Mick has a quandary developing maybe. Start Bowler and keep the fans onside, or stick to his guns and use him late on to chase the game!

Best piece of skill I’ve ever seen live

maybe it's bifsters comfort zone, this lower league football stuff. 😉

Whilst complimenting "crowd hero" Josh he said we need to get "the other side of his game out of him".
I understand that Bowler has to do some tracking back and tackling and closing down but obviously he gets selected for the other side of his game. When Mick was playing did a coach ever say to him your defendings good but you have a shit first touch, you can't beat a man and you aren't pinging passes around like Glen Hoddle so you're on the bench!!
As most of us know it takes all sorts to make a good team and we don't have many that will command multi million transfer fees so Bowler should start.

For once, you are right on the money. Although, I would say it was more a hasty decision, done in desperation and based on his weight of experience. Only time will tell if it was a good or bad decision. Some of the Huddersfield fans were commenting after the game that it was MM's tactical changes that out-foxed their ex-manager! So it all depends on your perspective. Every appointment (decision) carries it's own risk.

All my fears about MM are coming true.
It’s not rocket science. Find a fcuking way of playing our best players from the start.
Bet Dobbie isn’t this pig headed or stupid.
So after just 3 games all your fears are coming true.
Can you give me the numbers for this weeks Euro millions please?

It’s a pattern.
He’s doing exactly as predicted beforehand and I expect he will do the same at the weekend.
He might have an epiphany before the season is over, but I doubt it.

Yes, it comes to a point but two games in isn't it.
Of course and I'm happy he's here and hope he can turn our fortunes round. But like so many others we're entitled to express our opinions on his style of play, his player selection and his tactics. As far as I'm aware that's been the case on AVFTT for about every manager that's gone before him. And I've been posting on here for nigh on twenty years.

Now let me see, I need to go and check if you've watched the highlights from tuesday night yet and commented. Nah only kidding. I've already looked. 😉

I doubt it tbh
you wouldn't start him, you wouldn't bring him on if we are winning and he's only effective for the last 20 minutes in a game. Yep, methinks definitely. Or are you coming round to another way of thinking again. After all, you said you are open to changing your mind.[cough]

I'm not sure I've said any of that TBH... The trouble with you at times is you're that focused on your own daft argument, that you don't actually bother to read and digest what the other person has 'actually said' at all.
