Millwall v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 17.09.22

Too many players not good enough, this is what happens when you have 2 shite transfer windows in succession
Exactly that, it is starting to be a bit worrying, I can't blame Appleton, he hasn't got the players he wanted. The board cannot be covered in cotton wool forever, they may be doing things off the pitch well but they have to be questioned about getting the players in that were wanted.

My thoughts exactly, this cant all be laid on Appletons doorstep

We wasted our opportunity right at the start here. Thompson is learning and just too untidy and unreliable in and out of possession. Should have been a four three three and take it to them. Instead here we are.
Definitely should've gone 4 3 3. The formation didn't work against Rotherham and it isn't working today. Appleton has had no luck with injuries but not convinced he is picking the right starting 11.

Not looking good but until we have most back from Injury its hard to judge properly . I'm pretty sure SS & the board are doing everything possible given the parameters they have to work within . I don't think Appleton is making best use of what he has available or getting best out of them .

I just don't get why he's sticking with this set up when it's clearly not working.

Maybe it's just stubbornness.

This squad is getting relegated
I think you could be right. Sold Bowler and Keogh and bought Thompson and Wright, one of which has a serious injury already. The recruitment was awful, not only this summer but also last January. It's either Bullshit is just shit at his job or he hasn't been given enough funds to meet transfer fees or wages and that goes higher up the food chain.

You can't win them all but I hate it when the team look like they've done nothing in training all week and there is no game plan or a very bad one!!

Why give a manager a 4 year contract too? Madness. I'm not convinced this football club ownership is something that SS is enjoying that much and probably wouldn't do it again if he could go back in time. An owner these days needs to be absolutely filthy rich with money to spend, I hate that but it is the way of the world.

Problem is if we are struggling in Jan, the better players will not want to join us for a relegation battle, so we are probably stuck with the squad we have to get us out of the sh*t

The board haven't picked the line up today, persisting with something that clearly wasn't working after mid week.
We look rudderless. And we're getting worse.

At the game. We lost that in the 10 mins after half time we let a team booed off at half time get on top and keep the ball. Everyone could see it coming and yet we didn't change it up. Not looking good unfortunately.
