Nobbers v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 05.04.22

Not in it at all first 45 minutes only one team in it.

Changes required immediately for me like Lavery on at H/T and not with 10 minutes to go , Madine is just far too isolated on his own.

Why O why are our set pieces just so dam awful?
Because if you watch training they don’t practice them.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree cos I can't see how either of you could consider that a dive... which it must have been if it wasn't a foul.

And for reference I'm using nobber as an insult today as its derby day and about the most offensive thing I can think of!🤣 not because I think they're an actual nobber
There was contact..100%. It was Keshi who initiated it by throwing his leg deliberately into the Nobber trying to buy a free kick on the edge of the box. If you can’t see that on the replay there’s not much more I can add mate. Let’s hope we actually play some football in second half

We've been poor but we are at least pushing, it's on Critch to outsmart them in the second half

We cant take dead balls. Our centre midfield is slow and gives the ball away. Not really done anything of note. Embarrassing first half!!! 2nd half we must do much much better. Need to make changes fast

We need to go back to 442, take CJ off and put Yates or Lavery up top with Madine. We've nothing to add to the midfield other than Virtue and I'm not sure it's the game to bring him back to.
We miss Stewart because, as injury prone as he is, he's the best we've got with Carey still injured.

A kick up the arse is needed. No excuse for lack of desire.

Critch won't change it yet so hopefully a different attitude.

Very poor half.

Spot on - Jezzer needed for sure, push Keshi out wide left. And FFS we need to get Bowler more involved with some decent service.

Can someone show our players how to lift the ball over the first defender from set pieces. It's like watching an under 12 side.
How can a professional footballer not achieve such a simple task? They're not lead weights they're kicking about.

Not much to get excited about in that half. Josh has knocked about £2million off his worth tonight. I think it stood at £2million before the match. A lot of hit and hoping going on. Kenny was found wanting with their goal, as didn’t see matey boy running in behind him. If we’re not careful, this could turn into a monster embarrassment. We need some extra ‘punch’ up front, as that’s distinctly lacking at the moment. All the balls played up to big Gaz, have been too long and/or hard and it just isn’t working out - despite his otherwise good hold up play. Hope we don’t leave the subs too late.

With 2 average defensive midfielders I would try Virtue if he's fit enough on for Dougall, put on Yates or Lavery for CJ and put Anderson out wide.

Not enough threat up front and that is largely to do with formation and tactics! We need 2 up top, Lavery or Yates must come on second half!!

And as others have said, our old set piece and crossing failures have come back to haunt us, get some decent crosses in the box to at least give Madine a chance.

A bit of a continuation from Saturday. Slow bulid up, poor passing, missed tackles and no ability to beat the first man. A shame really, Nobbers are eminently beatable.

We're as bad at theirs as they we're at ours.
No bragging rights, although they'll probably finish above us.
We are awful at present

Can see why we've gone with Bowler and CJ wide with Keshi in the middle behind Madine, they just seem to be isolating themselves and not coming inside to link up play, just staying outwide and not offering anything.

I'll go against the grain... we've been okay. Dougall certainly doesn't need sacking or loaning out to league two. We've lost Grimshaw and his welfare is more important than the outcome of the match.

Preston haven't really dominated... we've not dominated... it's a derby game and could go either way. Preston looking favourite (as they're one nil up)
