Nobbers v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 05.04.22

Deserved more from that 2nd half, but crossing and set pieces were atrocious. No creativity in midfield. (Been an ongoing problem.) Grimmy would have probably got to that Archer shot. Archer is a class player. We’ve not taken advantage of loan system like some other clubs’. Almost complete absence of shots on target is an issue. NC needs to rethink this 1 up front strategy.
And this crossing has been going on all season!

My.opinion if we had sneaked it 1_0. We would be praising players and managers.
Basically lost 1_0.against a crap team
who had a striker that' scored a good goal.

Dont believe we got out played. Some could do better. But critical of lots of players not needed or justified. Start of season would of settled for what had happened.

2.or 3 players short of being a team challenging next season for.play offs

Striker, attack midfielder and a centre mid.

I think we are doing really well for a team that got promoted from League one last season. We are short of about 3-4 players that will get us
playing better and challenging for playoffs. We are in a great position in that we can now get those players in, as we are safe for this season.

As long as we don't finish in the bottom six.

Instead we lose 1-0 with no shots on goal because....you don't experiment in a local derby game. Excuse me if I reach for the sick bag.
All your posts before the game proved to me that to you it was just a game and the result didn't matter. Similar comments since. Shameful. Stick to politics forum as clearly you care for more about that than Blackpool FC in a match against our fiercest rivals.

Calm down 20s. I'm right about Bowler (despite your revisionist post) and I also know how much the Preston match matters to some. 3 points to me but hey ho.

League one team?…so a League One team finishing mid table in the championship?…in that case they’ve done very well
They really have, they have done brilliantly and without the mind numbing amount of injuries we have had I think we could have pressed for a higher position. I'm just trying to be realistic, we have the nucleus now, but to move forward we need some better quality players, particularly in central midfield, with the strikers we have we should be scoring a lot more goals and I'm not sure depending on inverted wingers is helping. Lose Bowler, which is almost odds on and that takes away a really exciting player who is only going to get better. I have nothing but admiration and pride for the players, they have been outstanding, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking for better and tough enough to let some go.

I hope Critch gives some of the players like Dale, Beesley, Kirk etc., a few games now, let's see if they can make it, nothing to lose.

Oh and unblock me you soppy sod, I'm lovely!!

no revision whatsoever and you just prove my point. You really just don't understand football and it's rivalry do you? You've no passion for the game. More obsessed with politics aren't you?

If it keeps you purple of face then Ok, yes. PS. were you at Deepdale in 1970 for the 3-0 game?

Not a great performance but if you offered me where we are now at the start of the season I’d of snapped your hand off.
Not great loosing to this lot, but my take on both sides is they’ll both struggle next season.
We do need a influx of 5/6 players. Agree re the goal, keeper should of had it.

Thought we were completely sterile tonight. Archers finish was the only real quality from either side, although Keshi and Kenny have to take responsibility for their part in the move.
This type of game suited Preston, NC must take his share of responsibility the changes he made, forced or not.
Great to see MV make an appearance and a couple of decent touches. There wasn’t a quality midfield player on the pitch tonight, although PNE were simply stronger in that area. Without KS we just couldn’t feed JB any quality passes quick enough to allow him to break free. Our weaknesses were there for all to see in the last 2 games... but before the knobbers get too giddy... they are bang average but deserve their win.
Good atmosphere from all fans,no argument the better team won.

Season into context, last three seasons teams promoted from the Championship via play offs have been relegated.
Disappointing tonight especially against Them, but let’s go again Saturday

We have a target man in big Gaz but no one to feed off him.
We play two wingers, CJ and Josh, neither of whom cross the ball to the target man with no one to feed off him.
Sorry Critch but I don't get it mate

CJ can cross, Josh can't, which is possibly a reason he's here.

As a Preston fan i do not think you should be to disappointed in your team. As some of your fans have stated look where you have come from and be in my opinion proud. Some of our players are on a lot of money and often do not look after they are even trying.

Championship football is a different ball game when it comes to what some teams can and can not afford...

I am not aware of Blackpool's budget is but in a normal season it appears that our owners one way of another is spending around seven million pounds more that we earn. Nobody in my opinion from your team looked like they were not trying and clearly your first team goalkeeper is is the team for a good reason.

Totally agree, we have 3 really good strikers but our set up just doesn’t work and we don’t create chances. I hope he ditches this tactic, it doesn’t work, we need creativity and feed the strikers.

According to Critchley’s post match we were the better team, we dominated the match, had more shots than them and were unlucky to lose, again. The man is totally deluded.

WTF? The only thing their keeper had to do was calmy collect gently lobbed crosses out of the air, Critch needs to step away from the whiskey bottle if he saw shots from Blackpool

Read his comments on the Gerzette on line, he said a lot more, all total horse shit.

Not on here to gloat. Wasn't a convincing win by any stretch & not the greatest game. Let's face it, we're both mediocre sides & it showed. Fair play to your fans, made some great noise, especially in the first half.
I enjoyed it despite the result. The atmosphere was intense, as a Derby should be. You could smell the flares and the animosity in the air, you could hear the tackles. Fair do’s your players rose to the occasion. We need to learn from it.

Big fat boo!

How shit were we?

Embarrassed, disappointed and throughly pissed off tonight! I have no respect for any of that shower of shite in Tangerine. 😡

Don't mind losing, but throwing in the towel like that against them is unforgivable. I thought Critch and the players knew what it meant to us? Didn't look like it at times. We were playing players out of position but I don't really understand what Critch is saying in his post match interview, we were very poor and deserved to lose. They are shit too but wanted it more than us - and it showed.

Appreciate he’s not the type of manager to be openly critical about his players, but Preston hit the bar twice, scored a good goal and we didn’t have a single shot on target all match. Not one. The only time we looked remotely dangerous was when the subs came on (too late to change the result, as per usual), but any momentum quickly fizzled out when a cross was required. What do they do in training? I mean, I could take a better corner or free kick, eating a pie and holding a pint (not even kidding). We can’t string two passes together from a throw in. There’s no movement off the ball or players finding space. Might as well try some of the younger players and new signings up to the end of the season

Critchley doesn`t have to single out any players that give poor individual performances, that would have taken far too long tonight anyway, but he could try facing up to the truth and stop fooling himself which undermines any respect for his credibility.

His comments tonight if accurately quoted on here are ridiculous and the pundits on Saturday including Olly could not quite believe his summing up of the Forest game and thought he must have been watching a different game.

There is a lot to be done before next season if we are not then to struggle at the wrong end of the table and it should start with Critchley facing up to the reality and abandoning self delusion..

I agree, the first aim for this season was consolidating, we have done that. However most of these players have reached the maximum of their capabilities, if we don’t have a major overhaul in the summer we will be in trouble next season. We took a lot of teams by surprise this season, it won’t happen next.
In the original post I'm certainly not saying no changes are needed, far from it. We need to make some significant improvements to the squad for next season. We've stayed up - that's great, and we need to build quality in the squad, real quality - especially in midfield. But of course so do a lot of teams so won't be easy.

I think most posters on here will have played football at some level so should know that the simple truth is that the teams with the better players and regardless of tactics usually win.
Whiteman and Brown looked very good last night and for me were the difference.
We have good players (who in my opinion give their best) but if it's not good enough then so be it.
The players deserve a lot of credit for keeping us up in the Championship.
Up to the club/board now to see if they can bring in a couple of top players.
Current players have done their job.
Blackburn here we come.

Spot on No 9 - those two stood out for me too, tough lads who could play a bit as well. No wonder we score so few goals - the service our forwards get is well below standard.
