O/T Trouble at Horwich Parkway Station

Northern Rail to blame. Cancelled trains to and from game. Trains that did go had 3 instead of intended 6 carriages e.g 1132am from PLF. This is with Manchester Xmas markets on too. WTF!! Stood up all the way herded in like cattle.

Police overreaction treating fans like animals at station pre and post match.

Whatever happened to the Football Specials!s

😡😡😡

They were partly to blame at Horwich but also so were our own lot. Proper going for the Bolton fans on the platform and it just went downwards from there.

This match has a nasty atmosphere in the air, always at the station which is a flashpoint, and today didn’t disappoint.

The organisation at the station was abysmal from the police, ended a free for all to get in the station then the train didn’t turn up ,National rail what a joke they are, not enough trains or carriages, surely they must of known it would be heaving for the match ,we got back to Poulton about 8pm for gods sake .

Northern rail. But yes, nationally the railways are a mess

Yep not sure what happened but everyone waiting in a queue behind railings for a train at 5.30pm that ended up tipping up at 6pm to then eventually set off at 6.35pm with everyone packed in it to then be told you have to get off at Preston.

Shambles all round.

Farce by the sounds of it. But from a distance it seems like Northern Rail have just given up.

If you are not providing sufficient capacity for the Manchester Xmas markets over a period of weeks, then you are not going to care less about a day at the football. It’s just pushing people back into their cars.

I got on the train into manc Piccadilly and it was a farce with people going to man utd game and the Christmas markets all crammed on to 3 carriages. The whole system is not fit for purpose and needs sorting out. We are miles behind the rest of Europe and paying more for a poorer service.

People have rose coloured spectacles these days with British Rail back in the day.

It was terrible.
It would be possible to keep nationalised rail and make it better.
Things aren't good or bad because they are either nationalised or in private ownership, they are good or bad because of how they are organised.

I don't think you can compare british rail which was privatised 30 odd yrs ago with today's rail. With the advancement in technology alone the service should be far superior but it isn't. Instead it's far more expensive and only exists for profit of the private companies.
It should be nationalised.

Look the problem with the trains is all political = THE Tories - Rather than whinge on here write to the Sec of State for Transport (each and every one of you, demand your compensation and demand a service that works for the fair paying user.) Here's his name: Mark Harper Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London, United Kingdom, SW1P 4DR - he calls himself the Right Hon. but he's neither !

If he blames someone else tell him to leave his job as he is in charge of it all. This Gov never accepts responsibility for anything even though they awarded the contract to Northern Rail, Avanti and the likes.

It's the same all over the place and you have my comiserations - I have loads of trains by me and its a lottery every hour let alone every day, and has been since Covid (when the Gov ran a complete uniterrupted timetable, totally empty !)

This Government that controls the laws, policies and contracts for train services desnt give a hoot - time to run them off the rails the sooner the better.

Btw the policing in London yesterday was excellent and has been for every peace march every weekend over the last month. Mind we did have 2,000 of them

Nobody's talking about going backwards. What we need is a modern, nationalised railway, working well across all parts of the country, with decent investment and plenty of clean trains working to time. I really don't care how many times Celia Johnson turns up to pull a local GP, with something in her eye.

I couldn't give a toss what colour hair the customers have. They all deserve better.

BTW, fare paying users.

Let's hope the scum fan who smacked the older Blackpool fan from the safety of A train being protected by riot Police is charged.

Few videos on Twitter going round, hope the fella is OK. The station at 1715 was chaos to be honest. Kicking off everywhere and an edgy atmosphere in the air.

I don't think the GMP like us going there. Us and Wigan when we visit Bolton do seem to cause a lot of problems for the GMP.

We were planning on going by train but having spoken to a Carlisle fan I know through work had a last minute change of mind and decided to drive
They had an identical experience

We still want to Chorley so my friends could have a decent drink

The advantage was we were back in Poulton at 5.35 so I had plenty of time to catch up

Reading the horror stories so glad I did drive

Its terrible now; much worse than it has been on the railway. I am going to Manchester tomorrow for work and just got notification that both my trains are cancelled. It means much longer journeys; changing and more expensive.
