My grandad used to own the Illawalla nightclub. He owned the Thornton Lodge pub at the time as well, it was called the Buccaneer when he had it.illawalla.
Used to walk down from the Bay Horse pub just before closing time as queues to get in were massive back then.

Remember many Friday nights meet Imperial Bar 7pm down to Yates getting blathered on White Australian wine you on Yates White rum then the Grapes and Man Fridays by which time we were completely arse holed. Crazy times.What about The Regency on Clifton Street back in the early 80s?!
We only went there near the end of the month when cash was tight in the run-up to payday, drinking loopy-juice and such-like!!
