I'd have been 4 now whether it was this year or not I do remember Stanley park lake being declared safe to skate or in my case wobble on. Yes in those days the Council actually did this.I do! Stanley Park Lake frozen, sledging on the golf course near the hospital, Pools Panel predictions instead of matches being played.
If I'd have known the actual date I would have written it in my post, but didn't know. I do now though. Thank you for your advice. A lesson learnt. On the other hand some posters are happy to see that the actual date of the game has been established.
No need for the sarcasm. My original post on this matter wasn't even addressed to you.If I'd have known the actual date I would have written it in my post, but didn't know. I do now though. Thank you for your advice. A lesson learnt.
They were especially the last. I always thought that game was 3-2 with the 'Oh Rodney Rodney' chant?
Fantastic goals, all three.
Me too now you've said that. They were especially the last. I always thought that game was 3-2 with the 'Oh Rodney Rodney' chant?
That's right they did play. Ironic that Marsh wasn't fit and the chant still resounded.I've watched the full highlights and it ended 3-2. Best and Moore were playing for Fulham
And walk by and stick your fingers through the foil thus drenching said imbiber!chew a little hole from the underneath. No straws.
My first ever game aged 7.They were especially the last. I always thought that game was 3-2 with the 'Oh Rodney Rodney' chant?
nah he's 69My first ever game aged 7.
Taken by my brother to see Best, Moore and Marsh; came home singing about "Mickey Walsh"
(Wish we had him in our team now !!)

Mosser sent me that this morning
27 October 1956. Classic second goal for Blackpool, Matthews cross and Morty (I think) header. The great Tommy Taylor got both of United's goals.
Were you on The Kop in the video @WizzerboyMosser sent me that this morning
Excellent find. I've never seen any footage of the Busby babes. Well done. Also, an excellent cross by Matthews for our second.27 October 1956. Classic second goal for Blackpool, Matthews cross and Morty (I think) header. The great Tommy Taylor got both of United's goals.
It was Mudie's header , Morty left the previous season.27 October 1956. Classic second goal for Blackpool, Matthews cross and Morty (I think) header. The great Tommy Taylor got both of United's goals.
No , that was the previous season, we finished 4th in 1956/7. What great times....Fantastic footage was that the season we were R up to them ?
Great pic but not sure about the attendance .Probably 68/9 when the attendance was 'only' 18853.View attachment 17107
24,000 at the match against Derby
Kop looks pretty packed for only 18,854 in thee ground.Great pic but not sure about the attendance .Probably 68/9 when the attendance was 'only' 18853.
In the Gazette. 1968. 24,000.Great pic but not sure about the attendance .Probably 68/9 when the attendance was 'only' 18853.
Great pic TB
OK , I still have my doubts but it's too trivial a point to labour. In the Gazette. 1968. 24,000.
According to Calley we didn't play Derby County in 1968. In the 67/68 season the match at Bloomfield Rd was held on 9th December 1967 (att. 11,113). The home game in 68/69 was held on 8th March 1969 (att. 18,853). We didn't play Derby in 69/70 because they were in Div 1. In 70/71 we met in Div 1 on 20th February (att. 17,892).OK , I still have my doubts but it's too trivial a point to labour.
Always understood that photo was against Hull City , 10th aug 1968 . A 2-0 home win , and I was on the Kop that day .According to Calley we didn't play Derby County in 1968. Blackpool did not have a home attendance of 24,000 for any game in 1968.
Good shout. I was wracking my brain for another team that would wear white and black and didn't think of Hull. Yes, I was at that game too (att. 16,755).Always understood that photo was against Hull City , 10th aug 1968 . A 2-0 home win , and I was on the Kop that day .
Yep could well be . The pitch looks pristine , if against Derby in March ( 69 ) , the pitch would be well chewed up.Always understood that photo was against Hull City , 10th aug 1968 . A 2-0 home win , and I was on the Kop that day .
Agreed. Hull CityAlways understood that photo was against Hull City , 10th aug 1968 . A 2-0 home win , and I was on the Kop that day .
And I was there — it was rammed and even at 7, I could tell it was the end of an era
Sarcasm is the highest form of wit, I'll have you know.No need for the sarcasm. My original post on this matter wasn't even addressed to you.
The kop packed like that and the attendance was only 16,755?? Where did the extra 22,000 go in the ground for our record attendance of 38,098 v Wolves? That's double + 4,000Good shout. I was wracking my brain for another team that would wear white and black and didn't think of Hull. Yes, I was at that game too (att. 16,755).
They used to pack them in in those days. Not for nothing did the Scots used to take a beer bottle with them onto Hampden for the big internationals and cup finals. The kop packed like that and the attendance was only 16,755?? The kop looks packed in that picture, how would you get more than double that amount on the kop and in the rest of the ground? If the attendance was 24k, like some say, then you could understand another 14k on top of that v Wolves (38,098)They used to pack them in in those days. It wasn’t packed , I was on the Kop that day . It’s a bit blurry , but you can see plenty of people’s bodies , when it was rammed you could only see heads !The kop looks packed in that picture, how would you get more than double that amount on the kop and in the rest of the ground? There looks to be at least 10k on the kop in the below picture. Was there only another 7k in the rest of the ground if the attendance was 17k?
No. 3 probably Henry Mowbray.Pitch looks terrific
Can see Hutch on the left and Suddick sprinting in below him - can’t tell who No 3 is !
Kop and roof repairs look great
Sure is.No. 3 probably Henry Mowbray.
Was there to see him play his only game for England, at Hillsborough, October 1962.Blackpool centre forward and played for EnglandView attachment 17538
