OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

BB3 I found this if it helps.
1966, he narrowly lost out to Bobby Charlton for the Footballer of the Year award and had to content himself with being Blackpool's Player of the Year.

Between the great depression and the second world war? Like any period in history it would be really interesting if you had a comfortable life, otherwise.....
Yes exactly. When boys grew into men and the patriotic way of life bonded all.

Of course, living through a war must have been absolutely horrific, but I’d rather have fought for my country and stood a proud man on The Kop, come Saturday afternoon, than be brought up in the current climate of scrounging, moaning and hatred for all, whilst cowering behind a keyboard!

Absolutely I would.

And if you hadn't made it through the War?

Assuming you made it unscathed all the way to 45.

If it's against Preston then it can't be 1936. The only season we were in the same division around then was 1933/4. When we played them in 1937/8
following promotion JH had sadly passed away.
I first saw that picture 3/4 years ago and it did say Preston won the game 2-1. The photo is Blackpool scoring.
Just checked..first game of the season 26th August 1933, Blackpool 1 (Hampson) Preston 2 Crowd 28,771

That's why it says 'circa 1936' rather than '1936' - it's around about then.
