OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

Some games that you go to are ingrained in your memory for all the wrong reasons. In my mind, a 4-1 defeat at Millmoor by Rotherham on 1 Jan 86 is right up there.

Some of you will remember the Tangerine Sheikhs, one of whom you can see on the lower picture; we had a great following that day but were 4-0 down at halftime. Everything went against us even though we were flying at the time. We never recovered from that drubbing.

I look back with nostalgia at Billy O'Rourke, Steve Hetzke and Mike Walsh (I think that is), but they must have had too much sherry the night before....

Good find. Yes, I remember the lads in fancy dress getting escorted from the home end. There was someone dressed as a tiger and possibly a pink panther in amongst them as well. Your right the season went downhill rapidly from there, and so did the crowds. I think we went weeks without even scoring in Jan/Feb.

I had 3 of them. Early no's too, as they were all numbered on the sleeve. Only did 100.
I got mine via a lad called Dane.
Can't remember his surname, dopey times😇

Budgie played 768 games
George Wood played 776 games.
Both had super careers and both at blackpool at the same time.
Our scouting system back in the day was second to none
Both the club and the town were more attractive propositions in those days. The reputation of the club from the 1950s and 1960s was still remembered

I couldn't agree more Pete and the crowds reflected that as well.
We had some really class players in the sixties and proper football to watch from both teams. UTP

Wizaard most definitely.
Gordon West highest transfer fee for a keeper at the time.
Big Tony Waiters played for England.
Harry Thompson everybody's Hero.
I loved them all
