Ah, that explains it.That box remained open for at least a decade after the closure of Central in 1964. It controlled the signals and points in South Station just behind where the photo was taken from on Waterloo Rd bridge.

There's Alan Taylor. He was Captain of Claremont Juniors FC- runners up to Norbreck in the 1954 Hampson Shield. I was goalie, Alan was too good a footballer to be wasted in goal!. Is the Hampson shield still played for?Squad from 67 maybe?

Played with Brian CloughWas at Hillsborough to watch him play France inhis only International
Granada TV sent a film crew to Bloomfield Road to see how it was done. Even though Alan indicated where the ball was to go, no goalie could stop it entering the net. He really was a magician with a football in live game situationshe was the master
I remember going into the old North Station. It fascinated me. I would have loved to have seen the things you have but I was a South Shore lad and far more familiar with South Station.Been in their a few times

A wasted wage but a decent kit
Some games that you go to are ingrained in your memory for all the wrong reasons. In my mind, a 4-1 defeat at Millmoor by Rotherham on 1 Jan 86 is right up there.
Some of you will remember the Tangerine Sheikhs, one of whom you can see on the lower picture; we had a great following that day but were 4-0 down at halftime. Everything went against us even though we were flying at the time. We never recovered from that drubbing.
I look back with nostalgia at Billy O'Rourke, Steve Hetzke and Mike Walsh (I think that is), but they must have had too much sherry the night before....
That was a joyous weekend. Ainscow hat trick on Saturday and the Faces at the Opera House on Sunday.

Great memories why can’t we pass the ball like that now. Micky Burns was very underratedAnglo Italian glory
I haven't seen the first one, but clearly recall the second one being worn in the late 80's. Bloke on central drive sold them.Does anyone remeber these t shirts ,someone just posted these pics on Facebook.

Both the club and the town were more attractive propositions in those days. The reputation of the club from the 1950s and 1960s was still rememberedBudgie played 768 games
George Wood played 776 games.
Both had super careers and both at blackpool at the same time.
Our scouting system back in the day was second to none
We followed those two with Iain Hesford. Goalkeeper was always a strong position for usBudgie played 768 games
