Sad to see the kop like that. Always remember it packed, un-segregated and with a roof. Sound was amazing. Rumble like thunder getting louder from behind then BOSH massive push in the back. Rumble was the sound of people's boots and shoes on the concrete steps as they surged forward No trainers back then
Enjoyed that . I along with a fair few Pool supporters were on the unsegregated open Score board end that day. Can't say I've seen this one since 1970 when the game was played. 1 1 at Old Trafford
My first away game. Coach from Chapel St. Paid on the gate. Stood on the scoreboard end and didn't wear my scarf. Can't say I've seen this one since 1970 when the game was played. 1 1 at Old Trafford
It was a bit , and we had a few issues on the train heading back to the Seaside. Still , we had a point in the bag .It was scary on the scoreboard end that day. Got attacked by locals on the way back to the coach, a Standerwick's from St Anne's pier.
Definitely not Bloomfield rd 1960This is Pool v Bolton at Bloomfield Rd in 1960, the first ever live televised Football League game apparently. We lost 1-0.

Looks does older I think yeah. That's how it was presented.Definitely not Bloomfield rd 1960
I will answer my own question Google tells me that the first match under floodlights at Bloomfield Road was in October 1958, so I would suggest the match shown in the picture predates this and is not the first televised match.Does not appear to be a floodlight pylon in the corner of the ground shown in the picture. When did we first get floodlights?
I’ve seen that photo before, can’t remember the details but it definitely predates 1960 by some wayI will answer my own question Google tells me that the first match under floodlights at Bloomfield Road was in October 1958, so I would suggest the match shown in the picture predates this and is not the first televised match.
The game shown in the above picture, and described as the "1960 Pool v Bolton" match is, in fact, a Blackpool home game from the 1924/25 season. The construction at the north end of the ground is not the Spion Kop, rather it is the 'Motor Stand' that was demolished in 1930.This is Pool v Bolton at Bloomfield Rd in 1960, the first ever live televised Football League game apparently. Yes it confused me but the article that contained it described it as the 1960 game. The stand is obviously not the Kop.The game shown in the above picture, and described as the "1960 Pool v Bolton" match is, in fact, a Blackpool home game from the 1924/25 season. It sounds like the match was a bit of a disaster for live coverage, the report says the star attraction for the watching viewers, Stanley Matthews, didn't even play and the crowd of 17,166 was apparently far lower than it would have been if not televised.Yes it confused me but the article that contained it described it as the 1960 game. Correct. Only the second half was broadcast and the experiment was deemed a failure. It sounds like the match was a bit of a disaster for live coverage, the report says the star attraction for the watching viewers, Stanley Matthews, didn't even play and the crowd of 17,166 was apparently far lower than it would have been if not televised.
I would like to draw your attention to Picture 4 of this gallery; that is our away following at Priestfield. I am convinced that the bloke in the extreme left of that picture on the lower step is Graham Berry, with his scarf hanging down.
No , Hearts in Oct 58 for the floodlights opening, The V V Venlo game was April 60.Didn't we play V V Venlo in 1958 to inaugurate the floodlights?
Big team, Hearts, in those days. My dad was a fan as a young man. Would Dave MacKay have been in that team?No , Hearts in Oct 58 for the floodlights opening, The V V Venlo game was April 60.
That picture appeared on Facebook. Like you 66 I googled the building of the spion kop as 1930 so debated that picture must be from the 20'sThe game shown in the above picture, and described as the "1960 Pool v Bolton" match is, in fact, a Blackpool home game from the 1924/25 season. I found the season linked to the picture in a slim volume about Bloomfield Road by Gerry Wolstenholme. That picture appeared on Facebook. Like you 66 I googled the building of the spion kop as 1930 so debated that picture must be from the 20's

13th Oct 1958, Blackpool won 2-1, both goals scored by Jackie Mudie. First goal scored under floodlights was scored in the 8th minute by Jackie Mudie. Attendance was 15437.Hearts were Scottish champions at the time with Mackay and Alex Young. If I remember correctly there was a parade on the pitch with a pipe band and band major throwing the band pole into the air. We won 3-1 I think. I was in the scratching shed
Me and my old man thought the same. I thought maybe I could be a scout one day!Tony Cascarino looked a class above that day
