Ollie Turton .. another contract?

Absolutely. He was already solid and versatile but since Critch has come in he’s upped his game. I’d give him a new contract, a deserved pay rise and quite rightly so a role as vice captain or similar. He’s our longest serving player now I think ? And he’s very experienced. With squad sizes being cut next year his versatility becomes even more important.

I have been a critic in the past but he has definitely improved over the last couple of months. Probably worth a 1-2 year contract extension.

I've never seen him play as well as he did last night, if he keeps that up then indeed maybe he is improving. Otherwise I think he's been pretty unremarkable, one of those 'solid' defenders who also has a mistake in him and thus is pretty hard to select if you have anything preferable. I'd like to see us get a clear upgrade at RB personally, but he would be perfect as deputy.

He is what he is ...a mid table League 1 defender...he isnt great going forward but has played better this season...worth a cheap contact as a back up but we need better if we have aspirations to go up. I think it is ridiculous that Gabriel is behind him in the pecking order and it casts doubt on the judgement of the manager.

Yeh worth another contract, good solid LG 1 defender. I'd like a more attacking full back with my preference being Gabriel but Forest will want him back to go into their team I'd imagine.
Tbf though last couple of games he's been very good so if he continues then our attention can be on another position to strengthen as in att creative midfielder.

He has looked really solid. I think if he can stop the backwards passes and be confident in his own ability and drive fowrard he would be outstanding.

There's far better out there. And it really shows as a team how poor we are currently when he's been our best player in the last two games.

Ideally, you don't want your right back MOTM in 2 games

Since he's come into the side ahead of Gabriel we've stopped winning. Weve looked solid enough but I dont think he does enough going forward. A couple of decent games doesnt change that.

I've been consistent in saying if we want to go up, we need better.

I’m not his biggest fan, that said he is an ok full back and definitely worth keeping. If possible I would love to get Gabriel back next season.

I don't think he has ever been red carded which is pretty good for a defender, or missed games through totting up.
Never seems to pick up niggling injuries. Pushing 150 games for us and still not to old at 28.
Able to play in a few positions
He has without doubt improved under Critchley after being pushed hard by Gabriel.
Ideally would like to sign Gabriel(realise there would be a fee involved) and Turton and let them both continue to fight it out.
Very few goals conceded down the right side all season

He has played well this season (like he did in his first season) and is versatile as well. Definitely worth a new contract

Definitely a new contract. He's an intelligent player. Also, I think that Critchley & Calderwood would benefit from having a 'senior players' group to help bring on the youngsters, to sell the coaches' methods and objectives and to feed back any concerns from the rest of the squad. For me that would include Maxwell, Turton, Husband and Virtue.

The club should secure the back four of Turton, Ekpiteta, Gretarsson and Husband for next season. It's a solid enough unit on which to build. Considering the return of Ballard and Gabriel to their parent clubs and the relative uncertainty regarding Garbutt's retention, we very well may need a whole other back four signed up in order to to compete with them.

Seems to be improving in leaps and bounds, definitely worth another contract, especially if we have to spend another season in league 1.

Solid squad player, would like to think next year we will find some real competition for places, so doubt he will be automatic 1st choice, but if we can sign him for the right price then I would go for a 1 plus 1 contract. If however we were to get promoted this year (which I doubt) then 🤔 sorry but not so sure.

If you have average league one players, you're probably going to stay in League One. An astute back up. But if you see Ollie Turton as a long term right back and similar type player. Virtue's etc. We'll stay in League One.

Defo!
Most consistent player all season!
One of lowest wages too apparently?
The negativity from some here astound me!

Hes a right back!
Do you want him to attack or defend???

Most consistent player all season? I can think of 5 players at least who have been better. He hasn't played half of it, and when he has, we haven't won as many points as when Gabriel has played. Weve struggled for goals and even more so when he plays.

But it's all about opinions.

Yes, would be interested to see if we could tempt Forest into selling Gabriel, but suspect it’s going to cost 7 figures - we have two very good right back options for this level.
How is Howe getting on? Suspect he’s leaving in the summer

22 starts
Name 5 (regulars) more consistent?

Thought he was our best player for long periods tonight. Would you offer him another 12 months?
Definitely give him a new contract he’s a valuable squad player, I currently prefer Gabriel at the moment though. Turton played well at in first half of the season Gabriel then got his spot harshly on Turton, but gradually got better and now warrants his place IMO.

Yes, especially if still in league one, I have my doubts about him making the step up to the championship, but he is certainly a solid league one player. If we do go up Turton will be like Neal Bishop in my opinion, he will give 100% every game, but you'll see he's not at that level.

Yes I've never had any doubt he was a useful member of the squad along with Virtue & Husband I'd keep them all, plus they are all improving.

Better defender than Gabriel. Definitely needs to be signed up.
That just simply isn't true. Statistically and watching football as an opinion.

One game, Ipswich, doesn't make a bad defender. Turton had a disaster from CB too. But we won't blame him as he's out of position. And he's not a utlity player no matter what anyone says.

He's as bog standard, out of the bag, 100% er, league one right back. Nothing less, nothing more.

I thought, as Blackpool fans, we had more ambition than that.

Yes, but we will need another rb in competition, as Gabriel will be in the Forest team next season.
Why does your history show you repeatedly posting we had signings who were not good enough for lge 1 then, Gabriel being included in them? You know, when you were firing off posts undermining everything Sadler’s team were putting in place.

Not as good as Gabriel going forward but pays better attention to covering in defence. I stand by my view we should sign him up...
