Abelglass are supposed to be good but expensive.Like everything you'll pay for what you get-seen it loads of times with doors that warp in sunlight and drafts through crap seals.Looking at getting new windows and doors but dont wanna use Safestyle. Was looking at using Windows Direct but quote seems quite high. Anyone dealt with these guys before? Any other recommendations?
yep, got them from WD myself. The salesman will come round give you a talk on why they are the best showing you samples and then measure up and then spend about twenty minutes punching numbers into his calculator. Be prepared. We pretty much get their newspaper thru our door every other week so looking at what they provide you can get a ball park figure yourself. The salesman will then quote a figure which no doubt will be thousands over the figure you have. I then told him I'd got the paper and his quote was miles over the top without telling him the figure I had. He'll then punch more numbers in and you just have to be hard nosed with him as he's trying to be with you. Remember he's on commission so he's out to screw you for as much as he can get.. So yep get him down to a figure your happy to pay based on your own calculations.Looking at getting new windows and doors but dont wanna use Safestyle. Cheers. He came round on Thursday but only rang to give us the price today. For all our windows and doors and to replace a couple of plastic panelling at the front with brick, they quoted £10,000 over 5 years at 0% APR. Not sure if that is good or bad to bd honest or if its worth going back and saying it's too high.yep, got them from WD myself. Cheers pal. My.house is a mid terrace I was a bit shocked by the £10k quote. If you need any help I don't mind, please message me I deal with most of the companies around here all that have mentioned so far are good.. 20's calls it right however with salesmen on commission ..
Well I' just live in a bog standard semi and I paid over 2 grand less than that. Do you get their free papers thru your door? Does their on-line website give prices?. If that's the only price they've given you then it's worth going back but as I said try and work for yourself the cost of each window so you have all the stuff yourself to throw back at themCheers. Good, I've just been out and got mine out of the paper bag outside and it's soaking wet. You should be able to get a ball park figure from that including your doors and wouldn't surprise me if your calculations were not much more than half your 10k quote. Robbing bastards. Makes you feel like not wanting to deal with them. I'd guess you have at the front of your house two large windows, maybe split into into panels a box room window and a front door. At the back another couple of large windows, maybe a kitchen window and a bathroom window plus a back door.Yes. Got it mate. I'll do some calcs. Cheers.
BFC season ticket holder too.Rossall Windows are good.
Yes. 3 large windows at front split, one small bedroom window, 3 large windows at back split in two, toilet window and bathroom window. Plus the two doors. I guess replacing the plastic at the front with brick may cost a bit.Good, I've just been out and got mine out of the paper bag outside and it's soaking wet. You must have been to my house in the past Plumbs!! Front porch won’t close for days when we get one of those hot summer spells.Abelglass are supposed to be good but expensive.Like everything you'll pay for what you get-seen it loads of times with doors that warp in sunlight and drafts through crap seals.

It’s down to how many windowsYou must have been to my house in the past Plumbs!! Front porch won’t close for days when we get one of those hot summer spells.
It’s blinking annoying!! Double doors... Panels bottom half, windows top half on each door, and above the doors there is another set of square windows to fill the gap to the brickwork. It’s down to how many windows
No. You have to be on a form of benefit to qualify I believe. Can’t you use the government green energy grant? They pay two thirds of the cost
Cheers. You got any contact details as cant seem to find him on the net?Use local tradesmen! Mike Williams in fleetwood is brilliant. He did our full house 2 years ago and was over 2 grand cheaper than Direct Windows(who’s quote we was white happy with). He’s a perfectionist to the extent when we had the blinds fitted the guy fitting the blinds said he had never seen windows fitted so exact.
Mike Williams (Fylde Coast Fascias) 01253 873778. Absolute top fella...Cheers. You got any contact details as cant seem to find him on the net?
Serves you right for watching to much porn.I had new Windows installed but within 2 years pretty much unusable and kept locking and taking ages to open anything - last time I use Microsoft!
What is too much porn? surely we can’t get enough of it!Serves you right for watching to much porn.
GJ, separate buying windows and fitting.Cheers. You got any contact details as cant seem to find him on the net?
No it wasn’t but he was a very close second choice really impressed with what they were offering at a decent price. After speaking to a mate of mine who had previously had an extension built he gave me the details of a guy who did it, he’s a local lad lives in Poulton and runs his own business.
Would that have been Dale Reeves by any chance?
I just checked the government website and as far as I can see, you done have to be on benefitsNo. You have to be on a form of benefit to qualify I believe.
I'll have another look pal but last time I looked at applying it specifically asked ms what benefits I was on and wouldn't let me continue without ticking one of the boxes.I just checked the government website and as far as I can see, you done have to be on benefits
I just entered that I’m a home owner, not on benefits and it says “you may be eligible for the green homes grant” give it a goI'll have another look pal but last time I looked at applying it specifically asked ms what benefits I was on and wouldn't let me continue without ticking one of the boxes.
I'm pretty sure that to qualify for this, you need to be upgrading to double glazing from single glazing. To upgrade from double glazing you can only upgrade to triple glazing.I'll have another look pal but last time I looked at applying it specifically asked ms what benefits I was on and wouldn't let me continue without ticking one of the boxes.
Think you're right palI'm pretty sure that to qualify for this, you need to be upgrading to double glazing from single glazing. To upgrade from double glazing you can only upgrade to triple glazing.
I could be wrong but I think that's how I read it
