Oxford United v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 18.04.21

I honestly think that whoever we were playing we would be feeling nervous.
There were some on here thinking we wouldn’t get the required single point going in the final 2
games against Donny and Bristol Rovers!

I will take a draw right now and a single goal defeat would not be a disaster.

Man up!!!
We are Blackpool, the most successful team in EFL playoff history, we have a team of Titans, we have the best defence in the league, We are going to WIN, they will fear us, we have better players all over the pitch.....

BELIEVE!!!

WE ARE BLACKPOOL!!!!

Alarm set for 3am 😫.

It's a strange feeling being in a prominent league position...Usually we're the under-dogs coming in at 6th in sh*t-hot form!

I am going for a 2-1 win. Can see us going 1 nil down and turning the screw in the second half with impact coming from the bench.

Australia I’m guessing? Surely better to stay up and calm the nerves with a lovely Coopers or two!

Correct. Sydney! I'd probably pass out and miss the whole thing. Was Coopers your tipple out here? Not a fan.

No I worked with a load of Aussies here in Holland funnily enough, we used to order it specially for Aussie day. Wasn’t a massive fan either to be honest, always forgot to roll the bastard first!

I actually not that nervous about tonights game. That’s not from an over-confident position just that it’s a 2 leg game so unless we get battered this evening we will still be in the tie. Also possibly because of the 6pm start it means I will be working pretty much until kick off and I’ve got that to occupy my head.

The 2nd leg is where the real nerves will be!!

I’d happily take a draw tonight and be in the tie in front of 4000 of us on Friday.

Hope we play 4-3-2-1 tonight & win by a couple or better. I think we mainly know who will play, apart from those who were/are injured. So I’ll leave that to Critch. Butterflies 🦋 starting to flutter in my stomach. COYMP.

As above I wasn’t actually nervous as concentrating on work but I just had a walk into Lytham on my lunch break and saw 2 Blackpool shirts which got the butterflies going.

The nerves have set in, not feeling confident at all.

Had a dream last night that we lost 1-0 so that's how I think we'll fair tonight.

That wouLd be fine, we’ll get through in the second leg. Mind you, I’d prefer a win, or even a draw. No, let’s put it to bed tonight.

Not much in either of yesterday's play-off games but you could see the more likely team to progress in each one. I'd be surprised if either team go into Friday with more than a one goal advantage.

Surprised Thornily and Ekpeteta both on the bench?

Was hoping Kaikai and Ward might have been on the bench but they're obvs not ready 😞

Some reservations but seems to have gone for the players who are fit and in form and that he trusts the most. Turton, Husband and Garbutt in the back 4, Dougall and Stewart holding the midfield. Where will Anderson play, not sure I want him left and Embo right. Keep it fluid at least.

As expected, a tight 4-4-2 with options to change off the bench.

Hope Embleton is more effective this time in that wide role. Cameras on, perhaps he will be.

I think we might see Kaikai involved from the bench on Friday.

Will that be 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3?

Stewart and Dougall protect the CB's, allowing Turton and Garbutt to get forward and provide width. Anderson/Embleton playing as a more attacking midfielder, with the other and Yates playing off Simms down the middle.

Only guessing.
