PNE - About to implode.

They are providing a template of exactly what not to do.

1. Sell your revenues for a discount price
2. Spend your money on players when your infrastructure is rotting.
3. Spend more than the revenue you bring in

They’re becoming a laughing stock over there in Dullsville. Must boil their shizzle that all of our dark days are behind us and every season we see progress. Either be it on or off the pitch
The thing is they probably still don't believe us when we say we'll be completely different in maybe 3 or 4 years, once the stadium is complete and the training ground is done.

If we stay in the championship building smartly....

Growing the fanbase, we'll soon be putting behind the last remaining image of the tinpot past.

The east stand is probably the last visible thing.

Once that is done and once the revoe redevelopment is done the whole area will feel different too.

Our new training ground will be light years ahead of Euxton and the board have confirmed it’s also being built to be future proof too. It’ll cost £12-15 million. PNE’s training ground which isn’t in Preston and which you must also bare in mind is third hand - was deemed insufficient for Bolton in the Premier League and was then sold off in a fire sale by Wigan as it wasn’t deemed an essential asset - it cost them £1 million.

Deepdale (much of which is almost 30 years old now) was not built, except for the invincibles pavilion (which still is not not complete) with any sort of non-matchday revenue in mind. The Tom Finney stand houses a dated function room and basic corporate facilities. The museum is a white elephant and the club shop is in a sort of post WWII bungalow. There’s virtually no scope for expansion and the ground is already well run down. Also soulless and much too large for the clubs needs.
BR is designed to maximise non-matchday revenue (KOKO does actually deserve some credit for that foresight - whether it was a result of being a cheapskate or not) will always be well positioned to do so, has huge scope for expansion, houses modern fit for purpose corporate facilities and is only improving with £20 million plus due to be spent in the next 3/4 years. It’s also known for its great intimidating atmosphere.

PNE are haemorrhaging money just trying to stay still. Have virtually zero prospect of growth without a crazed billionaire and the future looks pretty bleak. BFC are in a growth period and aren’t severely restricted in their immediate future (unlike PNE).

Nothing I’ve written there is unreasonable. It’s all based on the realities that exist. No doubt a PNE fan will try argue the toss but it is what it is. If I were a nobber I’d be concerned. I know a few who are.

Have they said how it's future proofed? Our TG, was this some snippet from a meeting or just because there's room to grow and expand?

"A rolling programme of maintenance". Now where have I heard a scheme like that before.....

Perhaps it means that, on any given day, they're exactly a year away from being able to afford to fix it?

You’ll notice in the press release they say the TG will initially have so many full size pitches - which to me suggested there was always room for more in the future. At the SDM a similar comment was made by Brett which also suggests further development could take place too.
It’s a huge piece of land and whilst SG can only house 2 full size pitches I think Garstang Road will initially have 8 (plus several smaller specialist training areas and an indoor half pitch) but could likely have another 4/5 added too just on the land available to the Garstang Road side of the site. Not sure if the club own the entirety of the land there or not though but there’s certainly room to expand - unlike SG.

Interestingly Brett and Ben confirmed the club currently had no plans to dispose of SG any time soon - and confirmed even more investment would take place at the site going forward. SG could well still have a role to play in BFC’s future maybe but who knows in what manner. Could be a great facility for local non-league clubs and youth football in the area you would think 🤔

I think when they announced it i underestimated how big it was, on maps I had a look and we were using about half I think of what they announced. Can see this on this post and others further up.

To get the 100 acres.

Just wasn't sure if by future proofed you meant some commercial side at the TG like poolfoot, but seems they aren't going that way.

No nothing like Poolfoot. GR will be an elite facility only and not open to the public.

BUT

It looks like the club want to develop a similar facility to Poolfoot but at Bloomfield Road instead - which I think is far far better given it’s location adjacent to the stadium and the fact it’s central to the Blackpool community overall.

Yeah I know that wasn't the plan, just wasn't sure if by future proofed there would now be something, didn't think there would.

Yes Bloomfield Road makes far more sense. I know it mentions a cafe in the meeting notes, its probably more the bar, restaurant or function room side that people liked about poolfoot, plus obviously the community pitches.

Pitches are covered, maybe the cafe can cover some of that or maybe the club have enough facilities for that side at Bloomfield Road itself.

Please don't associate Jordan Davidson with PNE.

The bloke is a Grade A melt. Even our own fans despise the utter toss he comes out with every week. He needs a banning order ffs.

One thing that I've seen on this thread is the 'we'll finish above you' comment. Does anyone really care? We finished above you last season but am I arsed? No. As long as you don't go up (which you won't) I'm not arsed about where you finish (obviously the bottom 3 would be nice).

Onto Saturday, we're in a horrible position. If we get beat tonight it'll be major doom and gloom. The lack of investment is showing in an already poor squad. I don't know what side will show up on the day and I still have nightmares from the shambles last season at your place. I'd take a 0-0 right now, happily.

Would say you're in a frustrating position rather than horrible but a 1-0 win tonight and you'll be all smiles again (and threads like this on here will stop) and you'll be confident for the weekend.

Lowe will see you right but will need a good Jan window. Seen a couple of the sky games and the formation and tactics look solid for the championship but lacking a partner for Riis up front and recognised wing backs. He can't be doing any more to show your board the help he needs.

Hmm, unfortunately the football we have played at times this season has been completely turgid (even ignoring the last 2). We started the season relatively well. We were creating chances but we just weren't putting them away. Now, we're struggling to create anything and our xG per 90 has fallen off a cliff.

But like you said, we have a 20 goal a season striker upfront, but no creativity behind him. As good as Potts has been for us in that RWB role he is lacking any real quality offensively. He's a work horse and a handy player to have, but he's not someone to take you onto the next stage.

Even if we win tonight, as you've mentioned, I'm really not sure about Saturday. Last season's events (even under a postman) still make me shudder. We were completely played off the park.

Who?

Ahhhh big fat boo man.

Bloody hell, he's well known after the last home game, by face anyway.

View attachment 13318

Bit harsh not wanting to associate with him, he at least goes to games and is passionate. He's funny 😄

If you had watched all of his vlogs, you'd know why people don't want him recording at the game. According to him, we're failing as we're not currently sat in the Top 2!

I guess you're right, however. At least he supports his local team unlike a majority in both of our towns!

You can see why Jamie wants nothing to do with him though. You don't see many normal self aware people deciding that they want to film themselves at the football and talking over what's going on to put it on the internet. Rather than just being there to watch the football. It's mostly for the attention seeking/socially backwards/not really interested in what happens as long as they get money from views.

I like our Youtubers.

This guy is comedy gold, for us.

Quite a few end up on here, so I've seen some funny moments.

That's what I mean though - 'Brum paid the ref;.

They certainly didn't. We were just awful. Makes us all look deluded and then we're all brandished with the same 'deluded nobber' title haha

I propose a new chant for the preston game on Saturday

“move seats for your leaky roof”

to the tune of go west

Come on down to the sea
and see a working can-o-py
Come on down to the shore, you don't get rained on. You don't get rained on. You don't get raiiiineeeeddd oooon,

'You've got the worst drips - You're getting rained on'...

But he is the face of PNE internationally thats just the reality, given his huge numbers and reach....

Isn't that what we get on your site, a nutters comments made to be all of our opinions? 😏

Valid point. That 'We8PNE' bloke is a complete and utter tool. Half the stuff he says doesn't even make sense at times. There is another guy called 'TommyT'? Don't mind him - he actually has some basis behind his arguments and doesn't sit there and say 'Preston are shit, lol'.

Going back to Jordan Davidson. He is now correct. After last nights result we are winning the league!

Well, I was thinking more of random twitter people.

It's not exactly a platform known for its sensible comments.

Yeah nothing says league winners like sneaking past a shocking side.

Top of the away league table

22nd in the home league table

Drives you mad I tell ya cha
The leagues absolutely crazy this year. The difference between a team looking like genuine playoff contenders or being in real danger of relegation is currently about 7 points. Blackpool FC could potentially tonight end up 1 place above relegation or on Saturday 1 place below the playoffs and we’re over a quarter of the way through the season. I can’t remember anything like it and it’s not just us either.

I propose - "They're sitting in the rain, just sitting in the rain. What a horrible feeling, theyre ... drawing again".
I'm sure the next verses can be added with more humourous lyrics

I knew this thread was done too early!! They beat us and they are in the top 6. We lose and are probably in the bottom 3!!
Take the piss when we have won, us lot could be imploding on Saturday afternoon if we play as bad as we have done tonight.
Stupid thread to start before the game in my superstitious opinion!!!

My thoughts too. All this talk about the state of Deepdale is irrelevant, and based on tonight’s performance we will be lucky to get anything from the game,
