Police investigating racist chants

As above heard that chant as was right by them in South..(again didn't offend me either) but didn't hear anything from us??

Not in the middle back of the South - Though one of our number laid to Marv vis the penalty. There were rumblings of joy in the West that the weather was lovely, no black clouds and tinfoil-lined blankets had been left in the vestibule.

Think it may be something to do with the ‘rather have a tower than a mosque’ chant in the north a few times

Heard the Tower one, but Knobbers sang homophobic throughout.
Some will say wrong, some say football banter.

End of the day songs get song and unless aimed at an individual shouldn't be a crime in my opinion

So what if I would rather have a Tower, than a religious building for Muslims or a church for Christians.

Not bothered if someone is gay, straight or trans etc.

It's a game of football, enjoy it with all the banter that goes with it.

Basically as long as not personal abuse, but does that go when we size shame someone or call someone a W#£nk#r or ref or a gollalie shit.

It's football, enjoy the game,.enjoy the atmosphere but don't get personal.

First time I have heard the “get your t@@s out for the lads” for a long time yesterday ….. but I believe it was targeted at a bloke in the south 😃
Who apparently did….but I have to say I didn’t see it for myself and no I wouldn’t be looking unless of course it was an attractive lady,in which case I might have risked one eye and a very quick glimpse….the football was exciting 🤔 enough not to risk too much😉

Just like the handbags outside the ground another waste of time I’m in the north and can’t remember anything being sung but I could have been having a beer 5 minutes into second half.

I reported their chant last year, I'm tempted to escalate it this year - on Wednesday evening we had rainbow corner flags; our club should do something about it. It's misogynistic and homophobic both of which for in the face of everything we are told football is about - one for the @SLO_BFC

Anyway TSSJr1 was saying that one of their players was getting called "pikie" on a regular basis - that would fall under racist abuse as the law currently stands.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said: "We have been made aware of possible racist and/or homophobic chanting during the football match between Blackpool and Preston North End yesterday (Saturday, October 22nd).
"We will be meeting with representatives from the football club in the coming days and this will include reviewing CCTV.

"If anything of this nature comes to light a full investigation will be launched and we will seek to identify and locate those responsible.
"Hate speech is not welcome in Lancashire and we take all reports of this nature very seriously.
"Anybody found to be responsible will be dealt with robustly and proportionately."
The chanting was said to be directed at rival Preston North End fans rather than any players."

What a load of bollocks, one of their main chants is homophobic, plus another one.

Didn't hear anything from us.

The SLO will side with the police and encourage investigation into Blackpool fans while staying quiet as a mouse about Preston as not to poke the Police.

As it says they are going to investigate homophobic chanting by Blackpool fans it may be helpful to point them in the direction of Big Fat Boo's offering. They should be able to identify one offender very easily.
Only here for the Gay bars?
What an utter waste of Police time let's police the easy crime rather than getting their hands dirty.

#policearefuckinguseless.

Not officers being told what to do.👍

Are we sure they sang ‘town full of fa***ts’ as I thought that originally. Having seen a couple of their videos, I am thinking it could have been town full of smackheads. The tangerine queen chant was sung a lot of that classes as homophobia which in my opinion is does.

I didn’t hear any racist chanting but I’ve heard it was vocal in the north specifically the ‘I’d rather have….’ chant.

Are they for real?

Didn't hear any racist chanting at all.
Is the tower chant even racist, or just a reaction to the PNE homophobic chants, which was very audible.
Either way, I very much doubt anyone was offended and nobody should be charged at all.
At the very worse a warning. But what a waste of police time.

I'd rather they were investigating themselves, for completely overlooking a hot spot like South Station, after the match tbh.

Didn't hear anything from the south.

Should put in a complaint about their homophobic chanting otherwise it would probably get unnoticed as per usual.

I heard the Preston fans outside and inside the ground with crack whore and queen isn’t this racist ? Maybe they need to watch big fat boos blog too ?

Well, they'll be arresting plenty of Nobbers over the next couple of months; Big Fat Boo man had posted his homophobic chanting online FFS.

Easiest arrest they will ever make.

All I heard that was possibly offensive was their crack whore , dad's a queen chant, can't say it offended me as most of the druggies and gay people I have encountered in Blackpool come from Preston, Blackburn or Burnley originally.
'druggies and gay people...?' Really are you categorizing them together?

In a statement from Lancashire police they commented.......Hate speech is not welcome in Lancashire and we take all reports of this nature very seriously.

However

Feel free to kick the shit out of each other whilst we wizz round in cars/vans not having the 1st idea where we should be going or what we should be doing.

Why, has he been reported? They all sing it.

This from pne online, someone rekons they heard this.

Finney in a box was heard for a second, there was no other chant.

Infact to hear it loud and clear is bollox as we would have heard it and on ifollow the only chants you hear loud and clear are away chants, as the microphone is in the east.

Sound a awful lot like their town full of faggots or smackheads chant they were singing, so most likely heard themselves.

I'll use the rhyme the other way round in this instance.

Names will never hurt me.....

But a can in the face and getting run over by a car when the police are nowhere to be seen may do🤷

If this is for real then the UK really has gone mad.

Probably just tit-for-tat chanting that went unnoticed until it was mentioned in that statement.

Reviewing CCTV??

None of the club nor the public cameras have any audio recording capabilities- have they now got a lip reading expert in their ranks? Or is lip reading also now classed as some infringement on human rights?

If you want evidence of homophobia watch Big fat boos vlog- plenty of evidence there.

TBH am getting a bit sick of our club being reported and investigated when their whole fanbase openly chants an obvious one or two. It's on all the footage not some background noise from a few either.

Listening to the chanting during the game, I wonder if the “Town full of Smackheads” chant from the knobbers has been misheard by someone listening in perhaps?

I trust the Police will also launch a formal and thorough investigation in relation to the complete lack of policing at Blackpool South train station a short distance from the ground and reasonably forseeable as a flashpoint for trouble
