Portsmouth v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 25.11.23

We were 1-0 up at the time and u we’re still complaining
No I was being objective and what we need to work on. We resorted to hoof ball and said we need to be composed on the ball which Thommo repeated during the interval. It's like I'm slagging off your bird and you get so defensive.

Let's ignore 90% of my positive comments and focus on a period of the game where we under the cosh.

You just love it.
Was it not Blackpool Mechanics Subbuteo team he played for. Lets have some positivity after todays result it doesn't come any better than that and full credit to Critchley and the team for a very professional performance. You can only beat what is in front of you. Now be Happy

Have you seen his bird? Wears a feather boa, or are they real feathers?

In theory, that’s the difficult games out of the way, next 5 are Northampton, Carlisle, Bristol Rovers, Burton and Port Vale. Any banana skins there?

Just the way the players all celebrated every goal today was more intense.Feels like something has clicked with them last couple of games and to do it at top the league has to give them confidence.
1at half was OK but got a little sloppy later on.

We got the goal 2nd half and they change games, we played it round much better in the 2nd half.

Against 10 men we've seen it before, we battered Peterborough with 10, but today we just completely dominated Portsmouth and played it round them, picked our moments to advance and score more.

That's the football we want to see, it's simple passing really but so effective.

Dougall looks a player transformed, just picking what seem simple passes, popping some off 1st time without looking even. He's been controlling games and calm on the ball.

another complete performance, when we were under the cosh a little bit we were superb defensively, and going forward we looked dangerous every time. CJ on fire, KD a little box of tricks, Beesley ran the channels got into all the right places to keep their defence occupied, JR made sure their defence had no peace whatsover, Dale was running the line really well, the defence was solid and the few tie portsmouth threatened grimmy was there. Carey had a very good game and Dougal, just imperious. did it more quietly in the first half than last week go the challenges in won the ball and did the simple things, then second half just stepped up and took control, difficult to pick a MOM: dougs, marv, Cj ??????

a bit of credit to Critchley as well because the one threat we had was from the wings we seemed to change things a bit to nullify that threat in the second half.

another shit ref. but we came out a bit better from his shit decisions for once.

Whilst the margin obviously surprised us all, the result didn't surprise me. It was a huge opportunity where there was more to gain than lose. And tbf we approached the game in that fashion.

This is a huge win, far much more than just 3 points.

However, I still want a No 2 of exp in. Someone who can read when it's right to keep attacking rather than shut up shop (not that that happened today, but at 3 up it's a bit easier to carry on as you were).

It was a "free hit" today 😂

Great result and to me Rhodes wasn't really on it today either.
quieter than normal maybe but even then he keeps defenders occupied which opens up space for others. all of our goals came from a bit deeper today, in comparison to last week when the strikers were getting in. Kind of feels like a plan B in retrospect.

And it was dembele's goal no matter what the BBC say.

I'll take him having a quieter day though when we win 4 nil at the unbeaten league leaders.

Yes watch out for brizzie my pick for surprise package of this league, they started badly but are getting it together.

Well weve got to push the boat out and get C.J's new contract done and sign Dembele on a good contract looking good
Dembele is on a 4 year contract at Brest, they won't let him go on the cheap. He's here for the season so let's see where we're playing next season.
