Reading v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 20.11.21

‘I do not Beeleeve it’ to quote Victor Meldrew.

Been trapped at ‘a do’ all night. Checked in at half time. Gave it up as a bad day at the office. Just looked in and we have hooked back a two goal deficit at the break to win 3-2. Hope all those ‘travellers at the game had a great night - what a wonderful result 😬.

I don’t mean to cast any brickbats at anyone but why have we had to wait so long for Sonny Carey. As previous posters have said he completely bossed it tonight, what a terrific debut, could he and Dale be the missing pieces to complete the jigsaw?
Critch has been coaching him since the summer. Dont forget we bought him from a non league team where the game plays differently to the championship. That coaching is clearly being rewarded

I understand but we got Lavery from a similar level and he has taken to this level like a duck to water. It appears Carey is the same, class will show at any level but not until it’s given a chance.👍

why does the lying bastard on SSN make things up? Said Reading were denies two penalties late on and that Husband didn't get much of the ball with his tackle. Got the ball clean as a whistle and plenty of it too..
Who was it 20’s? Makes it even better ha ha

Thought the first half was a decent performance apart from the 2 silly goals, but the turning point was the save from Grimmy and after that it was total domination.

Just had a look on the Reading site and one quote was ”well done Blackpool you played like Barcelona……….”

Thought Dale was MOM for me, he completely changed the dynamics of the game. Great goal then a superb cross- not to mention his cheeky back heel and the inter passing with Jerry that would have been goal of the season had he finished it off. What a prospect we have!

Now, what’s that saying? Something about speaking too soon. 🤣 Who’s that, six places beneath us? 🤢🤮

Possibly. We looked an entirely different team with Carey as a distributor. Love the way we played tonight. It was noticeable that Carey, alongside Wintle, seemed to instill a a sense of composure, which raised a few other players' games.

The interchange between Dale and Carey was outstanding, cut right through, Dales slides one in, if someone gets on the end of that its goal of the season.

Thought that too!

And who's this Esperetta who cleared the ball off the line?

Having been on - a few of us were saying that we really needed to get behind their full backs as crosses from deep were being easily dealth with.

Must say, fair play to Critch for not chucking Madine on - which I thought the game was crying out for. Going with Dale allowed us to get in behind... goal and and assist, great debut.

I don't think you can criticise people for saying 1st half we lacked quality up front and made two errors for their goals. We were the better side 1st half but it was frustrating and there was certainly room for improvement. 2nd half we were a different team. Passing was faster and crisper. They showed more determination. In fact they blew Reading away. It was as one sided as you could get. And so refreshing to see new lads Carey and Dale doing well.
That wasn't exactly what people were saying though, some of the comments were pretty bad!

Unbelievable performance tonight ! Fully deserved 3 points, pure domination that second half.

Felt like attack vs defence - reading have to be the worse team we’ve played this season.

I think mentally they had won 5 from 6 and thought we would be there for the taking, the 2 goals only reinforced that, they came out second half expecting to coast it and couldn't raise their game as we were battering them! They looked shellshocked at being played off the park, look at the experience in that team and the amount spent on players and yet a lad from non league coasting 100 grand ran the show!!

Reading are a very good side.. I will be surprised if they are not top 8 come the end of the season. We were just better. Doesnt mean I think we will finish above them, we might, but saying they were bad takes away a little from our own performance

On paper they are, but I thought they were awful, we gifted them 2 goals then played them off the park. Agree with @Micky Walsh they were shell shocked, seemed to have no game plan and were so so sloppy, lost count how many times they gave the ball away, I think they’ll be below 15th come end of season based on that

Our football was v good all the way through except for two defensive mistakes early on, but IMO the second half was our best 45 of the season. The players now look like they believe we are play-off contenders.

Or did we just make them look bad?
Reminded me of our loss to Donny last season

That's not luck. Thats stupidity rewarded. 🤣
I just sensed that we were the better team in first half and them moaning buggers were watching a different game to me. It was worth a small punt. I was tempted to do a double on Man Utd and Pool to win at halftime. That would have been a 120/1 odds

I'm still keeping my eyes on Fulham.;)

Barnsley the worst, Reading not great and I thought Cardiff weren't good either.

Can someone please check in on 62?
He will distraught at that.

Nige, Nige put the belt back in the cupboard, at least you’re not Memphis… you’ll be fine… they lost last Saturday and you got to show those idiots on Avftt then didn’t you?
Keep up I've already commented!

Sure. We didn't look like the side 2-0 down. But we didn't look like we were going to take our chances and 3 goals looked a tall order. Til Dale came on for his debut!
