Rugby World Cup

Same, know very little but keep an eye.

Apparently England are a bit shit and will struggle to get out of the group. Argies up first, and we're not favourites. 😲

They're not, Ireland and France are at the start of play. The mighty Boks are just slightly behind as 3rd faves.
Ahh, I thought they were the champs/boys to win it.

Obviously love England/Scotland to win but if not then c’mon the Irish

I know very little about Rugby Union but always enjoy the 5 Nations and Lions tours.

France v New Zealand to kick off the World cup.

Needs a thread on the sport forum.
Not been Five Nations for many years now, Italy joined so making it Six Nations.

The RFU have tried to help us by holding the draw 3 years ago, when we were rated higher. It means top 5 rated teams are in same half of draw, meaning 3 of them cant go too far. We have Australia, Wales and Argentina as main threats, all about as good as us. Saying that the first group game is really tough.

Yep, shit Manager an aging team with youngsters chucked in for good measure. Can’t see us getting far

Nothing to do with the RFU

England 14-1 should be atleast 66/1 absolutely no chance.

Agree with the points on England, they enter this as the worst England team for a very long time and have gone backwards since the new coach Steve Borthwick came in 12 months ago.

South Africa to win it for me, they have the right balance of a powerful and ferocious pack who grind teams down and the pace in the backs to cause any team major problems, the other contenders are France especially as they're at home, Ireland who have done brilliant under coach Andy Farrell and the All Blacks who are perennial contenders in rugby World Cups.

France for me. Big pack. Best player in the world. Wicked back line.

As long as they don't choke it'll be France I think. SA are a bit one dimensional at times and can be caught out, France have an all round package.

I think England won't even win today, I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't get out of their group. Japan will be licking their lips at a scalp.

Another for France here. Love it to be Ireland, but I just can't see it.

Eng have no chance and the Arg game tonight could be their cup final.

Football in general, and particularly the 'prima Donna' players could learn a thing or two about on field behavior, (bar the odd bit of eye/mouth gouging, and the regrettable 'fake blood' scenario!!), the complete respect of the referee, and the TMI (VAR but done properly).
During the France v All Blacks game last night, the ref's microphone picked up a convo he had with one of the monster AB players.
There was no jostling or crowding of the ref, there was no abuse, just a massive Maori forward towering over him, accepting the ref's opinion, and then ending with a simple 'yes sir!'

If footballers who go to ground after the briefest of contacts and do the 'dying fly' dance could experience the equivalent force that rugby players experience in every tackle, without the histrionics, then they might just cotton on to just what 'contact sport' actually is....

I would have paid good money to listen to Shaun Edwards giving out his defensive instructions to the French players at half time.
I hope his French/Wigan accent was better than Joey Bartons French/Scouse....!

The diving in football is plain cheating/gamesmanship and the lack of respect to referees is poor to say the least.

That said football is still a tough game and full of brave lads, different to rugby no doubt but when you see some of the players putting their head in the mix you have to admire their bravery too.

Agree with you about footballers diving and histrionics and respect of the referee that could be learnt from rugby.
Odd bit of eye/ mouth gouging though ...that's just the start of it in rugby. Too much thuggery and punching when we all know one punch can kill somebody and its all wrapped up in a culture that we shake hands in the bar afterwards and everyone is a real man. Then when someone calls the referee sir they get praised for it. They get away with it because it doesn't have the spotlight on it that football does.

Watched a couple of games and still don't get the rules. Unless I truly understand what I'm watching I see little point in doing so!
Why I love Darts and Snooker 😁

Hard work this by England so far it’s just not happening far to many errors 13-12 now.
Hopefully we’ll come good last 15/20 minutes.

Edit as if by magic we go and score a try and a conversion. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
