Sum Sonny Carey up in a sentence

That is just wrong, they did, not always effectively but they did get forward.
OK I exaggerated a bit.and accept your point. But so many times in the second half Gabriel found space to receive a pass only for him to turn back and return the ball fro whence it came. It's as if he's had the confidence knocked out of him. I'm just saying that maybe that's how he's been told to play. I don't want to be too critical because he is one of my favourite players but that is what it seemed like to me.

I thought he plucked up his courage a bit and had a very decent second half apart from that non shot. First half he was probably as baffled as the rest of us what our coach expected of him technically, but he could have done himself a favour and got stuck in. It was like playing with ten men in that first 45.
Generally today our passing was really poor.
He wasn't the only player that struggled in the Critchley system, I really rate Jordan Gabriel but he seems to really struggle in the role given to him, he just doesn't fit in with Pennington. Both are good players but are having to sacrifice their strength's to fit in to a very negative system.
On the other side it was obvious that Coulson needs a player with acceleration in front of him who can take on and beat a player.
As for setting up a team Critchley is totally clueless.

I have just posted the same. But not just Gabriel.

He was better than Dembele today and will be a massive player for us if the penny drops for him and he can build on that performance. Sadly, there's just as much chance that he starts being lazy again and ends up in non-league but I'm more hopeful after today.

Came to Bloomfield Road with lot’s of promise but unfortunately he just is not good enough. I believe he should be moved on at the end of the season.

Yes he was Kurt, unfortunately a lot of posters on here when they have a downer on someone they simply cannot acknowledge when that person has a good game.

Coulson plays better with Husband behind him

So, we're going to single out a player to blame, and it's the one who the manager hasn't played for weeks if not months? The one in the team that would've been most rusty, and the least match fit? What about all the other regular starters that were match sharp but completely ineffective?

"Sonny Carey, subject of far too many AVFTT threads from posters who couldn't spot a player Iif one landed on them from a great height with great force"

Set up Byers to miss. Had our short on target from free kick which he won. Set up Joseph miss with a lovely ball.

So basically, made literally everything any good happen today but cos he missed a 25 year effort he's shite.

Fuck off and worship your Neil Bishop posters.
Got taken out on the edge of the area after dribbling through

Still learning his trade needs to improve his defensive ability to tackle an opponent also improve his upper body strength if he wants to be a No10. I would keep him but his boss needs to identify these weaknesses and help him develop then we might have a good player. The coach has imposed a system of play he thinks will be successful this season, I don’t think it will mainly because the squad of players he has does not have enough options.

How many of our players have suddenly come into a bit of form, only to completely lose it again and disappear for several games?
1 good game after 20 poor ones doesn't make it good form but I guess that is usual for our fans opinions .Someone can have a dreadful game and make 1 tackle before you know it people make him mom .Seen this happen with Pennington a while back everyone in the room saying he was having a stinker and he was he was shocking but next thing someone on here made him mom. Before you know it even 1 person on the podcast was claiming he had a good game it's like people are influenced by what others say and forget what there eyes saw .Fell about laughing it was that ridiculous but does seem to happen quite a bit with are fans but I guess there's nowt like opinions

Promise turned to mediocrity and then to simply going through the motions. He will end up being a decent but unspectacular League 2 player at best but not at Blackpool.

Our best player today and only sidelined this season because he won’t sign a new contract , apparently Wrexham are interested in him
Let’s just see how he and Dembele perform next season when they are free from the clown 😡

A few moments in half a game over a full season, not good enough, not a top 6 number 10 in League one, or an 8 or any other number where you want to try him and he parks his car in disabled parking bays, hope he goes in the summer.
I would not want to get rid of a player for parking offences.
We will undoubtably lose Dembele so the playmaker will have to be Carey, Apter or a new signing.
Carey did not look too far off in the Championship last season. Maybe the fact that Critchley keeps rotating players means they all always, on edge.

Touted as the next best thing, gonna make BFC millions some said,I've seen more end product in a bucket of whelks.

I know most don't agree but I think he's one of our better players. Unfortunately the bar is pretty low at the moment particularly in midfield.

I thought both him and Virtue in his short time on the pitch contributed more than Norburn & Byers.
I think a bit unfair on Byers, granting that he didn't have his best game, still was involved. The thing that bothers me that after 50 odd games in total this season very few games look as though players are comfortable with one another. It's all so hit and miss. Passes going to the wrong space, runs to nowhere. The games where we've won since probably Christmas has relied on individuals doing something exceptional amongst the dirge.

Carey has the potential to be a game changer, but but being stuck out on the left wing is not how anyone gets a decent performance out of him. Saying that anything we did yesterday came from him.

Struggles to know how to find space, doesn’t do the defensive side of the job well. But is always looking to go forward, has some good touches

I don't get the hate for Sonny this season. He was playing well with Dougal before Xmas (when we were on a decent run) then suddenly after we beat Bristol Rovers at home (and played well) he was dropped and then has barely played over the last 3 months until yesterday. It's absolutely bizarre managerially. And yesterday in a display where creatively we were under par he created our best 2 chances and 2nd half at least he actually travels forward with the ball and can go past someone. I'm not saying he's a world beater but he was a lot better than others yesterday who don't get the same heat.

Agree with earlier posts that he was the most influential player in 2nd half. And he does find space - lots of it. And he's very young.
A goal or two soon and everyone will be going dizzy about ' this guy Carey'.

Think this post back fires on the originator who just wants to stick the boot in for the sake of it. Evidently didn’t go to the Derby game as the timing was appalling as Carey probably our best player

If a player lacks heart and aggression it is difficult to coach those qualities into him!

I don’t think we were that bad today at all they’re second in the league and we matched them easily we just struggle in the final third for a bit of quality.
It’s not about the performance today or even losing..if we miss the play offs as expected it will be because we have lost to the absolute dross teams near the bottom …to only take one point from Leyton orient and port vale is the issue and the manner of those defeats at Stevenage Lincoln Wycombe burton and Cheltenham are ridiculous

Really rate him, but don't think we will see the best of him under critch,s setup. He will probably be let go or leave and become a star somewhere else.

Sonny is being linked as a possible signing for Bradford.
Maybe a new start, under a coach who knows where best to play him, is what he needs to reboot his career.
Whether he stays or goes, i wish him well.

Sonny was signed from Kings Lynn where he was getting rave reviews and a number of league clubs were after him. He was signed with the potential to develop and become a top quality midfielder. For me he has shown glimpses of the potential we saw but he has never kicked on and is no better now overall than the player we initially signed. He started to show his form before he got injured at Huddersfield in the Champ and in a few games upto and including Fleetwood this year. I compare him to Abou Adams at Derby who generally we could not handle and scored a cracking goal (I remember we were in for him when he left Forest Green) . Sonny had a very similar chance but nearly hit the corner flag!! For he he does not influence games, he is often a passenger and brings very little to the team. Yes, you can blame lack of opportunity, the system, being in and out of the team etc but to ‘make it’ you have to take all and any opportunity you get and make it impossible to be dropped and Sonny just does not do that. It’s a shame but for me he is one of a good few we have to move on this summer.

He did OK today but was being constantly slated where we were sitting.

People have made up their minds and its tough to change that. Good stuff gets ignored and every slip is pounced upon.

Good point that.
Same with a couple of other players as well.
Hamilton & Norburn.
