Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

It’s a game of opinions tbh but I’m not sure you have a clue tbh because I’m basing it on what I saw.

9 games, 3 assists - that’s a decent return.
I don’t want to get into personal disagreements, all I will say is read other posts on this thread and you will find most in agreement with me and up to now none agreeing with your assessment. Should tell you something.

I thought Kirk was bang average and if we signed him it would go against the club which is the last thing they need.

I thought it was interesting in the Mansford'Sadler interview recently when Mansford said Corbeneau was a player the club were already interested in and on Quitchley's radar. I have seen I'm play and I'm not convinced we will see him much and he will go back in January.

We need to get away from the players that Quitchley was after and the recruitment team and start getting some players in that Appleton wants.
Firstly, let's ban the phrase bang average. Cringe!

Second,, let's just sign the best players we can in the positions we need. I'm Sure Appleton agreed with Fiorini for one, but the others too. He'll have a veto at the very least.

BANG AVERAGE was Kirky!! 🤣 🤣

There is no way Appleton will want him, not a player who would add anything to the squad. Fiorini is a much better player than Kirk.

If he doesnt want him we won't sign him. No discussion to have. Different position to Fiorini though.

Signing players for the sake of it (to shut the moaners up) is the polar opposite of what we should do.
We've clearly identified the quality of (on the face of it) players that might significantly improve the squad. If we can't get that kind of player now then we stick with what we have until
we are in a position to bring someone of that calibre in. If that doesn't happen in this transfer window so be it.

The club will NEVER sign a player just to 'shut the moaners up'. And when they do sign players, the moaners will moan about something else - isn't that's what moaners do? 😖
Don't lose sight of the compensation money that BFC got when Judas jumped ship.
Nearer to the deadline, I suspect that will spent recruiting out of contract players who are currently without a club (as mentioned by MA).
We must recruit experience to nurture our young, eager to learn loan & development squad players.
The Josh situation needs putting to bed asap too.

I don't know what players in The Championship earn but we must be offering less wages than most other teams, because it's very worrying when we agree fees with clubs for players, only for deals to fall through on personal terms. All I could suggest is for us to use what cash is available to improve the team's wages and go for players once they are not included in their Premiership squads for the season. Perhaps another loanee and a permanent signing or two would see us right. I fear that if we can't sign at least two players before the end of August, it's going to be a long, haaard, season. Also, if we were stranded in the bottom three in December, it would be very difficult to sign players in the January transfer window to participate in a relegation battle.

There’s a lot on 10-15k and upwards it’s frankly ridiculous. I’m not aware of any deals that have fallen through because of not meeting wage demands. Bishop deal didn’t , Brannagan didn’t ???

You know you’re in trouble when you can’t land a free transfer and they would rather travel to the other side of the world instead.

Cue meltdown!
I'm fine with this, I'd prefer we just bring Morgan Rogers in and keep hold of Bowler. Having 2 wingers with pace, who can beat a defender is key to this system. As is getting the right forward to lead the line, personally I'd consider Grabin* and spend the money on his wage rather than a transfer fee on an unknown quantity. I know he doesn't fit the model.

Brannagan deal ultimately fell down because we couldn’t compete with the reported 15k a week Oxford gave him

I don’t think it was so much we couldn’t pay him £15k, more like wouldn’t. Because a) he probably isn’t worth that much and b) blowing the pay structure out of the water would led to an uncontrollable spiral in wages. Any future targets would want at least as much as him, but if you don’t think that’s excessive I’m sure SS would be only to willing to let you pay his wage.😉

I was actually going to go into a separate paragraph to say essentially the same thing, we have to be responsible as a club and that’s what Simon is doing, we’re build the club correctly even if it’s frustrating at times

"I believe one of those players is injured so they won’t be available anyway"

Sounds a bit like Morgan Rogers is injured and so unavailable. A shame because he would have been a good option. Especially if they could have brought him in on a permanent. Sort of player we should be bringing in with potential to do well and later be sold on for a profit with that money being reinvested into the team.

If they think they can get him and he’s what we need go for it injured or not, he won’t be injured forever. This is history repeating itself from last season, Critchley didn’t re-sign Simms because he was injured, instead in a panic he signed Dale who was also injured. I must say that went well, Simms has been banging them in for fun since then, for different clubs, we no longer have Dale, talk about deja vu.

Good point but it doesn't seem like the club will go in that direction. The fact he has said he is unavailable seems like that option is off the table. It also appears as if they didn't sign Colby Bishop due to worries over potential future injuries.

I just hope that they can actually bring in a better quality of player and instead don't turn to league 1 quality again. It's been said many times that they don't need squad players but rather players for the starting 11. They do seem to be struggling on that front though.

Exactly this

Latest rumour from our end is that Riis may be sold and 'Boro have put a bid in for him. If 'pool are quick they may be able to gazump 'Boro's bid but it would have to be over £11 million because word is that is how much 'Boro have put on the table so far.

Our whole team aren't valued at £11m, so buying Riis at that fee is a non starter.
I'm fed up with rumours that amount to nothing, and just want news of at least 2 actual, contracted signings.

When I saw Insider had posted, I thought YES this has to mean we've got one in the bag ..... only to be disappointed again.
Let's hope we get a result tonight and some of the more recent linked names, actually sign for us 🍊
