Sundays breaking news…Jerry being tipped for Rangers

Not mental but realistic.
Do I want us to sell our best players? No
Do we have to? Probably yes

Players have the power today in contract or not. If you refuse to take a good deal where they get to play at a perceived higher level they go into sulk mode. You either then grind it out (which never works) or you end up selling anyway. Look at Fofana and Chelsea this summer.

It’s a reality of modern football. Grealish went to city. Coutinho went to Barcelona. Sancho went to United. Etc
Or if you prefer. Watkins went to Villa, Carvalho went to Liverpool

It’s not a lack of ambition on my behalf or even the club, it’s lack of club power versus player power
Jerry Yates would be best served growing his reputation at Blackpool until the Summer at the very least. If he is worth spending good money on in January then there's no reason why he should not be worth spending money on in July.

If you look at how much Villa paid for Ollie Watkins 33m, if Jerry can continue with his current form I would think somewhere in the region of 25m. Top class strikers don’t come around often.

Come on folks, steady on.

If I paid someone to scout for me, then I'd be disappointed if Jerry's name didn't appear on their watching schedule. Purely because he's now up the top of the scoring charts it's a no brainer that he'll attract attention.

Plus word will be around now about everything else we already know about him, workrate etc.

The club gets asked by Rangers for a ticket, it's a short step from there to someone telling a paper Rangers scouts were at the game. Fill in a couple more gaps creatively, and you can quite easily get a story about them sniffing around.

If he carries on in this vein there'll be scouts down most weeks.

There is absolutely no way Jerry will be going anywhere in January, he will be with us next season for sure, unless he scores 26 goals or more, and then we are likely to be in the top 6 anyway!! Let's enjoy his goals while we can, he is getting the service he deserves now and long may that continue. He will likely go through a dry spell again, but he brings so much to the side that it won't matter because we have others that can stick the ball in the net. Lavery is only a couple of goals in quick succession from starting to add to his tally regularly too.

No way we would sell him in January and anybody who’s paid any attention to the way our club is run would know that.

Don’t see the attraction of Scottish football - never watch it , never follow it -
Nor do I but regardless of what the quality of the SPL is like, Rangers are a massive football club and have the pull of European football and the Old firm derbies. Championship players like Jerry fall right into there target range.

The Daily Record is reporting that we will demand £5m for Jerry, as his contract only has 18 months to run when the window opens. Pathetic piece of journalism from a lazy hack who clearly neither does his/her research nor understands English football.

Players do not produce the same results at different clubs. There’s more to it than just footballing ability, to hit massive form as he currently is, a player has to feel happy in his current environment.

Jerry is clearly happy at Blackpool, he loves his teammates and his coaches.

I don’t think we’ll sell and I don’t think he’ll want to go.

Jerry is a very very rare footballing athlete.. a box to box striker. 98 gruelling minutes at Sheffield... 95 against Hull( workrate faultless)...and Saturday? Who was the player hunting the ball down in his own box on 95 minutes... lung busting charge to throw himself into an outstanding flick to CJ... and guess who was there to finish, had CJ hit the woodwork?
NC compartmentalised Jerry into his footballing model ( successful in league one) but MA ( again to his credit)has recognised and released the potential of Jerry... his agent should bare this in mind... Jerry loves the culture that currently surrounds him but maybe he needs to mature... before his inevitable big money move.

Just read that West Brom and others also looking to sign in Jan, and apparently "Blackpool prepared to see for 5 million". Either a local reporter with very wishful thinking or someone really has been on the p**s....

Surely we wouldn't jeopardize the season further by selling anyone else.

Daily Mail also reporting Bournemouth and Brentford are interested. Price being the same measly £5Mill.

See Scotty Taylor and DJ.

Yates signed a 3+1 deal in July 21. There is no way we would sell the joint top scorer in the championship, who has just under three years left on his contract, for £5m. Not a chance.

Edit to add - unless he has a release clause, which I hope is not the case. If it is, then the club need to offer him a fresh deal and increase the clause because £5m is far too low.

We can speculate all we want.
The only people who know where Jerry's future lies are Sadler, Mansford, Appleton, Jerry's agent and Jerry himself.

If Critchley was still here, Jerry would have splinters in his Arris from sitting on the bench & he would have wanted away. So WELL DONE TO MA.
Players usually take dip in form when this type of distraction appears in the news, but I don't see crazy Jerry doing that.
I know 'every player has his price' & 'we are a selling club' etc but I want Jerry to stay for years and become a legend at BFC, with his own statue!
Why? Because he's invaluable to MA's style of play; his value will continue to rise under MA's coaching; his fee won't be spent on quality replacements (as per Josh, Richard & Critchley).
Love BFC 🧡 Jerry

They don’t spend the kind of money it would take normally but they do have champions league money. Highly doubt they’d pay 8million plus for Jerry.

There may well be Brownies as well as Scouts.

Has been on fire recently showing what he can do when his mojo is rising. Must give him his head for the rest of the season and see where it gets us. Screw Rangers and any others trying to get him for a song.

Joint Championship top scorer at this moment and those who may fancy a flutter on him to top the list at the end of the season prices available.

Bet Victor 10/1
Bet365 16/1
Skybet 18/1
William Hill 33/1

All e/w at quarter odds first 4.

Hills layers have woken up yet or haven't been watching him recently.

Honestly if we lose Jerry and we do not replace him with proven championship quality I’ll lose the plot and it’ll be the final straw for me that determines the fact the board & Sadler aren’t worth a wank.
Our ‘truly’ best players will always leave. A prem club? More money? Personal choice of location. Whatever. You can’t blame them. As Chunky says, the Brentford model, which in my eyes is a winner because talented young players will see us as a ‘stepping stone’. In a way, our policy attracted Patino. There will be others in the pipeline.

I make Saturday the fifth match this season where we could have lost but Appy and the players came up trumps.

We have the best owner we could ever wish for.

I don’t want Jerry to go either but he’s on a new level this season. You’d take a pay rise for doing the same job wouldn’t you?

We’ve just stuck it up the nobbers and you want to leave? Think again, eh?

This is what the papers always do, a few goals & they're running stories about them being the next Messi. Let's see how he progresses this season, now he's got his confidence & better service. I'm delighted for him & us & if he does become a 20 goal a season player & want to follow the money/Premier league etc, then ok. But not yet.

feck em all, he ain’t for sale, end of.
You’d have thought that the club had ambitions to eventually get back into the PL. How are we ever going to achieve that if we keep selling our in form players.

This made me laugh in the Sun.

"With his contract expiring in 2024 Blackpool would understandably not want to lose him for nothing, meaning a January switch could be the most profitable move for them."

What on earth are they talking about? I have never heard that said about a player with another 18 months left on their contract. Plus they keep saying he is valued at 5m. They mustn't realise we have new owners. Lazy reporting as per (hopefully)

Would the club sell our best player for 4 million when there was no time to sign a proper replacement?
The Josh and Jerry scenarios are very different.

Money talks of course but the point I make is that £7 mil is nowhere near enough for Jerry in the circs.

Probably best to ignore anything the Sun says. They’ve also ignored the fact that with the option he can’t leave until 2025.

Hills the place to be at 33/1. Twice the price and more of anyone else. I'm on anyhow. Beers on me if the Championship Haaland carries on like he has recently 🍻
I've been on to betfair to ask them to at least list him. They've done that now, I've asked for a couple of quid at 33/1. He's probably value at the 10/1, (cracking bet at Hills 33/1 1/4 the odds first 4) being joint leading scorer already, brimming with confidence in a team probably in a false (low) position in the league....one thing for sure, barring injury you'll get a run for your money

The path to success for the inspired JY was outlined in Saturday's incredible display.
Having good support and providers for his rampant confidence right now.

With Madines superb headed feed to the main man for the first. And the growing young talent of the brilliant Patino flighting a deftly weighted cross.for his second.

And when Lavery gets back more supply lines like the one he skillfully laid across for Jerry's supreme finish at Sheffield last week.

Yep good times coming, I'm going into play off mode if this level of performance can be maintained.

It’s in Yates’ interest and that of the club to make the best of the next 18mths. He gets max exposure and hopefully increasing his value for his own personal benefit and we capitalise on his higher worth to proper clubs.

Where do I say he shouldn’t leave?

I said if he leaves and we don’t replace him with championship quality I won’t be happy with Sadler or the board.

Don’t twist my words to try and push an agenda. It’s there in black and white for all to see what I said.

To sell him in January would make no football or business sense. Look at things in the summer but for most clubs the reality is that at some point your best players move on to bigger clubs.

“Lose the plot.”
“Final straw.”
”Sadler not worth wank.”
Your words, in black and white. Far stronger and emotional than your second sentence above. Your words have not been twisted nor is there an agenda.

Yes my words are aimed at Sadler. I’ve never said anything about why Jerry shouldn’t leave? Tit.
