Possibly the kind of centre forward that Everton are looking for ?
Jerry Yates would be best served growing his reputation at Blackpool until the Summer at the very least. If he is worth spending good money on in January then there's no reason why he should not be worth spending money on in July. Not mental but realistic.
Do I want us to sell our best players? No
Do we have to? Probably yes
Players have the power today in contract or not. If you refuse to take a good deal where they get to play at a perceived higher level they go into sulk mode. You either then grind it out (which never works) or you end up selling anyway. Look at Fofana and Chelsea this summer.
It’s a reality of modern football. Grealish went to city. Coutinho went to Barcelona. Sancho went to United. Etc
Or if you prefer. Watkins went to Villa, Carvalho went to Liverpool
It’s not a lack of ambition on my behalf or even the club, it’s lack of club power versus player power
Would the club sell our top scorer in Jan for 7 mil and risk relegation ?Current market he’s worth 12-15, we’d probably sell for 7.
yep, he's strangely gone missing.1950s pool fan will drive him to Rangers
Don’t see the attraction of Scottish football - never watch it , never follow it -Fantastic club as Rangers are would they be able to stump up the transfer fee?,at his current rate Jerry has to be in the 10million bracket surely.
Would the club sell our best player for 4 million when there was no time to sign a proper replacement?Would the club sell our top scorer in Jan for 7 mil and risk relegation ?
Doubt it
I’d bet my house on Jerry going nowhere in Jan
Nor do I but regardless of what the quality of the SPL is like, Rangers are a massive football club and have the pull of European football and the Old firm derbies. Championship players like Jerry fall right into there target range.Don’t see the attraction of Scottish football - never watch it , never follow it -
Daily Mail also reporting Bournemouth and Brentford are interested. Price being the same measly £5Mill.Just read that West Brom and others also looking to sign in Jan, and apparently "Blackpool prepared to see for 5 million". Either a local reporter with very wishful thinking or someone really has been on the p**s....
Surely we wouldn't jeopardize the season further by selling anyone else.
See Scotty Taylor and DJ.Players do not produce the same results at different clubs. There’s more to it than just footballing ability, to hit massive form as he currently is, a player has to feel happy in his current environment.
Jerry is clearly happy at Blackpool, he loves his teammates and his coaches.
I don’t think we’ll sell and I don’t think he’ll want to go.
Worked out well for Josh didn't it!!Would the club sell our best player for 4 million when there was no time to sign a proper replacement?
There may well be Brownies as well as Scouts.Come on folks, steady on.
If I paid someone to scout for me, then I'd be disappointed if Jerry's name didn't appear on their watching schedule. Purely because he's now up the top of the scoring charts it's a no brainer that he'll attract attention.
Plus word will be around now about everything else we already know about him, workrate etc.
The club gets asked by Rangers for a ticket, it's a short step from there to someone telling a paper Rangers scouts were at the game. Fill in a couple more gaps creatively, and you can quite easily get a story about them sniffing around.
If he carries on in this vein there'll be scouts down most weeks.
Our ‘truly’ best players will always leave. A prem club? More money? Personal choice of location. Whatever. You can’t blame them. As Chunky says, the Brentford model, which in my eyes is a winner because talented young players will see us as a ‘stepping stone’. In a way, our policy attracted Patino. There will be others in the pipeline.Honestly if we lose Jerry and we do not replace him with proven championship quality I’ll lose the plot and it’ll be the final straw for me that determines the fact the board & Sadler aren’t worth a wank.
The Josh and Jerry scenarios are very different.Would the club sell our best player for 4 million when there was no time to sign a proper replacement?
Probably best to ignore anything the Sun says. They’ve also ignored the fact that with the option he can’t leave until 2025.This made me laugh in the Sun.
"With his contract expiring in 2024 Blackpool would understandably not want to lose him for nothing, meaning a January switch could be the most profitable move for them."
What on earth are they talking about? I have never heard that said about a player with another 18 months left on their contract. Plus they keep saying he is valued at 5m. They mustn't realise we have new owners. Lazy reporting as per (hopefully)
Absobludlylutely NOT!And should be made captain.
Hills the place to be at 33/1. Twice the price and more of anyone else. I'm on anyhow. Beers on me if the Championship Haaland carries on like he has recentlyI've just been on betfair to have a quid on him for top goalscorer...he's not even listed in the betting!!!??? Weird
I've been on to betfair to ask them to at least list him. They've done that now, I've asked for a couple of quid at 33/1. He's probably value at the 10/1, (cracking bet at Hills 33/1 1/4 the odds first 4) being joint leading scorer already, brimming with confidence in a team probably in a false (low) position in the league....one thing for sure, barring injury you'll get a run for your moneyHills the place to be at 33/1. The path to success for the inspired JY was outlined in Saturday's incredible display.I've been on to betfair to ask them to at least list him. I make Saturday the fifth match this season where we could have lost but Appy and the players came up trumps.
We have the best owner we could ever wish for.
I don’t want Jerry to go either but he’s on a new level this season. You’d take a pay rise for doing the same job wouldn’t you?
We’ve just stuck it up the nobbers and you want to leave? Think again, eh?
Jerry is certainly not a League 1 playerWBA interested apparently.
“Lose the plot.”Where do I say he shouldn’t leave?
I said if he leaves and we don’t replace him with championship quality I won’t be happy with Sadler or the board.
Don’t twist my words to try and push an agenda. It’s there in black and white for all to see what I said.
Yes my words are aimed at Sadler. I’ve never said anything about why Jerry shouldn’t leave? Tit.“Lose the plot.”
“Final straw.”
”Sadler not worth wank.”
Your words, in black and white. Far stronger and emotional than your second sentence above. Your words have not been twisted nor is there an agenda.
