Sundays breaking news…Jerry being tipped for Rangers

This type of speculation does us a hell of a lot of good.
We need to attract young talent to the club. Particularly from Div 1,2 and academy Prem kids.

We can point to Bowler as a success for our model, if we sell Jerry for real value in Jan or the summer it strengthens our allure.

Like all of us, I don’t like losing favourite players but it will be the main way to progress for a club with our small attendance and financial backing (Brentford model)

His contract isn’t an issue for us, so being realistic what’s he going to cost Rangers or whoever?

Selling Jerry in January would be a very bad idea.

not just Rangers according to the article….inevitable I suppose once a striker hits a purple patch
Honestly if we lose Jerry and we do not replace him with proven championship quality I’ll lose the plot and it’ll be the final straw for me that determines the fact the board & Sadler aren’t worth a wank.

"Rangers scouts watched Yates score one and assist two goals in Blackpool 's 4-2 success..... "

Must have been watching a different game then. Either that or lazy/incorrect journalism.

I think that it would be very risky to sell Jerry this season. We've already sold our most creative player without successfully replacing him. We can't lose 2. I wouldn't have confidence that we'd be able to replace him

It's OK having funds to buy players, but I'm guessing our salary structure is one of the reasons we're not getting deals done?

Yep said in my Jerry's development thread I wonder how much he's worth, Riis was valued over 7.5m was it.

Jerry's workrate, tracing back etc is immense. His goals have been top class.

If he gets 20 goals which he's well on track to, he's years left on his contract... he could be worth a lot.

Not that we want to sell him at all, we love him.

But if one day silly money is offered and we take it it can help us build a side with quality we couldn't ordinarily afford fast tracking us with our model and possibly then competing for promotion. That's the model anyway, we still have the Bowler cash to spend yet....

Jerry is north of a £10m striker and his value will only increase. He’s got significant scope to improve further, with players who can regularly provide good service. We’ve compared him previously to Vardy, so when he goes (and it won’t be in January) it should be for a huge fee. I doubt Rangers could afford that fee.

There’s always paper talk about inform strikers especially from the Championship and the so called bigger clubs making noises about signing said strikers but look at Riise, 20 goals (l think) last season for the nobbers and was subject to a big money move and yet this season can’t smack a cows arse with a shovel!

Good players will always attract attention from other clubs. Jerry’s on fire at the moment, therefore it’s inevitable that scouts will come to check him out - that’s their job after all.

Although I would expect that Rangers can offer a significantly better salary package than Blackpool, I can’t see how it would be a beneficial move for Jerry football/career-wise in the longer term.

With all respect to the SPL, he’s in a much better shop window now & as/when/if he feels it’s time to move on, it’ll hopefully be to a club that are able to offer him a platform more worthy of his ability.

There is a world of difference between the situation with Jerry and what happened with Josh. Jerry is effectively under contract until Summer 25. If he goes, he goes when we choose. We can succession plan. With Josh the clock was ticking and we were faced with him walking away for nothing. Jerry has given us everything and I don't begrudge him a move - when the time is right and we get market value.

If we do sell Jerry we want way over what he's worth, or is SS another Oyston (sell, sell, sell)

We'll always be struggling with that policy. With Mansford advising SS we'll probably be selling our best players

I'd be very surprised if we even entertained the idea of selling two of our best players in the same season. After selling Josh, we definitely don't need the money, but we do need Jerry. Selling him after also selling JB would make relegation a much greater threat and I doubt we'd do it.
The decision to offer JY a new contract despite him having three years left on his old one has put us in a much stronger position and is why we should always consider doing it.

He defends , he scores , he assists , he makes play happen - that’s our JERRY

The bonkers enthusiasm this lad brings to the team is absolutely fantastic. I love his energy levels too, none stop running! He’s scoring regularly now, and he seems happy here. That said, good players inevitably get noticed. The grass isn’t always greener though. Hopefully Jerry stays with us for a few more years yet.

Of course he would want to go to Rangers.
Playing in front of 40 thousand, European football, a chance to win things and a bigger wage. It's a no brainer. We only sell if the price and timing is right though hopefully.

Taking into consideration how SS makes his money, I hardly think it will be BM giving him any advice.

Are you fuc@ing mental why would we want to sell Jerry . I don't get this sell our best players for money we get in the hope we get another as good will only leave us as a average AN other club. Jerry like Bowler gets the fans at it and is just the player The Pool need. Selling shows lack of ambition and unsettling the team. An just who would we get who would give his work rate. Hold on to Jerry at all cost.

Fantastic club as Rangers are would they be able to stump up the transfer fee?,at his current rate Jerry has to be in the 10million bracket surely.

Rangers only play with one striker and its predominately Antonio Colak with Morelos being the backup. They then play three behind the front man, mainly midfielders. Ryan Kent has one side nailed down so Jerry would find himself on the right hand side of a midfield three which isnt going to suit him or he is playing second fiddle to Colak as a lone striker which we know doesnt suit him.

The most they've paid in the last 20 years is £6.5m for Ryan Kent back in 2019, which is in fact the only time they've gone over £5m in the same period, interestingly the most they've ever paid was £12m back in 2000 for Tore Andre-Flo. Rangers Transfer Records

So maybe Rangers are thinking they can pick him up on the cheap, but if he gets 20+ goals this season I suspect they'll be disappointed.

Rangers couldn’t afford him. If they come calling looking for our player on the cheap they can bolt!
Personally think he could do better than that and earn a move to a prem club.

Not mental but realistic.
Do I want us to sell our best players? No
Do we have to? Probably yes

Players have the power today in contract or not. If you refuse to take a good deal where they get to play at a perceived higher level they go into sulk mode. You either then grind it out (which never works) or you end up selling anyway. Look at Fofana and Chelsea this summer.

It’s a reality of modern football. Grealish went to city. Coutinho went to Barcelona. Sancho went to United. Etc
Or if you prefer. Watkins went to Villa, Carvalho went to Liverpool

It’s not a lack of ambition on my behalf or even the club, it’s lack of club power versus player power

Current market he’s worth 12-15, we’d probably sell for 7.

The chicken farmers wanted £15m for Brereton and didn't find a buyer, I think with the best will in the world Jerry isn't in that bracket yet, although if he carries on his current form he might push himself towards it.

That said, it'd be madness to sell in January, hang onto him until June and try to get £10m+ for him then would be the more sensible approach.

One or two posters on here wanted him selling not so long ago.
Jerry's hit form & under MA the best is yet to come. He'll score goals as long as the service is there, which it has been recently.
Jerry needs to keep being Jerry - likeable, funny, brilliant in the changing room, working tirelessly & scoring goals.

More significantly, if Preston and Blackburn can manage to keep hold of their best striker, so should we.
(Sitting on a pile of Bowler cash.)

I've only just realised that you re not called PNE Neil. !Sorry about that Neil 🤣🤣😁

If the club sold Jerry In January it would be simply unforgiving. I’d never forgive them
I can’t see it happening. £20 million in the summer if he stays( I’d rather him stay)
