Swansea v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 15.02.23

We scored 3 away at Burnley and 3 away at Sheffield United, the top 2 teams In the League.
We could give any team in the Championship a test, IF only we'd just Attack, Attack, Attack them!!!

Sadly, that's not Micks way though!

Anyway, an optimistic 0-1 win for us, I'll predict! 👍

The difference is we only have one available fit striker who hasn't scored in the league for light years. The manager definitely needs to involve Povada who was on fire against Forest.

I’ve got a gut feeling we’re going to turn the jacks over. They’ve been very poor lately and their crowd will soon turn on them if they’re seem to be struggling. I’m going for 1-2

After tonight's results, it simply has to be an attacking line up tomorrow
Draws aren't good enough, and they haven't been for the last 2 games either, but nothing we can do about that now.

Got to go for the 3 points, never mind all this mathematical possibility nonsense.
Pressure off, little expectation, no added pressure from playing at home, nothing to lose

The defence is looking stronger ,I can't see Swansea scoring more then 1 . So can Blackpool score 2 . As they are at home ,they will attack , I think we can get them on the break . 1-1 or 1-2 . Hopefully the second score line.

Just read this from a Swansea fan they've had 2 wins from the last 16.

We have every advantage going into tonight’s game .We play a team at the bottom of the league, with some ten injured players and a manager from a time gone by.They also have a 260 mile journey possibly without an overnight stay .
How can we lose?
Well against that we have a goalkeeper who will almost certainly make a critical error and a system that will at some point send both full backs and all mid field players forward st the same time -and we all know what that leads to!
Despite this surely we’ll win tonight . Won’t we?

Backs against the wall, but need to try and win…..

Maxy/Grimmy

Lyons Nelson Jud Hubby
Connolly Dougall
Bowler Poveda Rogers
Jerry
Lyons is very much like Jordan G. He's great attacking but gets caught out defending. On Saturday his winger had too much room to cross the ball.
Keep it tight at the back & only break formation when the opportunity arises.

"Manager from a time gone by". Harsh but true.

Swans have one of the best scoring rates in the division. Conversely one of the worst defences. Can't see them not scoring at least one probably two. Can we nick one against their shaky backs. Maybe but probably not two. Hopeful but not expecting a McCarthy Renaissance anytime soon.

They'll only feel confident doing that if we don't have our best players on the pitch. At least 2 of Bowler, Poveda and Rogers must start.

Will we play a high press against a team who plays out from the back or sit there waiting for them to lose possession?

Need to just get behind them and hope it works for once. Other than being far too negative it wasn't too bad Saturday 😬

Is it supposed to be on TTV tonight, as I'm on it and it's not giving me the 'watch now' option which it usually does.

Apart from Poveda for Carey and Rogers for CJ it's about the strongest team we have. Looks like Nelson's injury is worse then they let on.

Carey and CJ are not for me, let's hope they put in a perf.
What the fuck is Poveda doing to piss off MM - surely he's working on his attitude problem.
