The Muckers on X

What's the issue they have now with the club about singing? Aluding to the club not wanting them to sing a particular song in the ground?

Is it the loyalist song being sung about our Irish player and he's a Catholic?

No.

It's the 🎶 Oh Lancashire ... is wonderful ... 🎶 song.

I can understand why . I am sure some women and obviously children should not be hearing this song . It may put future fans off coming again once its heard . Saying that ,they would have to come in the first place and should understand that they will hear bad language at a football match . I think that although its a good tune ,we do have plenty of other songs and chants.

To be fair there are plenty of folk on here who always moan about the unfairness in football and how everything is in favour of the big clubs.

If Leeds can get fined £150,000 for singing the highly offensive, "Does your boyfriend know your here", how much will we get fined if we continue to sing about t1ts and fann1es ?

On a more serious note, the Muckers might not be everybodys cup of tea but where will all this nonsense end ?

I think that it goes without saying that young lads are going to use questionable language when they are supporting their team at the football so perhaps there should be a ban on singing in the North or should the club issue songsheets before matches with details of all the songs that are allowed ?

No new songs will be allowed to be made up on the terraces by the likes of Raggy and in future all new songs must be submitted to the powers that be for approval before they are accepted and added to the song book.

There are definitely plenty of better songs to be fair.

I imagine all the songs sung at football matches are going to offend somebody somewhere, especially when there are folk out there who are desperate to be offended.

How many times can the Muckers be expected to sing We Love You Blackpool ?

This song was getting sung in the 90s when I was growing up...And it's only getting mentioned 30+ years later as being offensive???!! Get a grip!!! We are from Lancashire & we're proud of it..The tits & fanny part of the song is irrelevant.

You'll probably struggle to get that past those that want to be offended Cleveleys but good luck.

To be honest, it wouldn't be my favourite chant but others will like it and as I've already said, it will be hard to get rid of all offensive songs, most football songs are designed to be offensive.

I mean, the song is clearly tongue in cheek. Maybe i'm giving a little too much credit to the original composer but "its full of tit, fanny and BLACKPOOL", the crudeness and grammatical eccentricity is purposefully exaggerated to a point of absurdity that *should* put it beyond the realm of offense. It's like people called Alice getting offended by the Chubby Brown song.

Having two very influential children , ( one of whom sings all the chants at home ) we managed to put our own twist on most of the chants. “ Going on the PITCH with Jerry Yates “ being one.
Somehow I’d find it rather tricky glossing over the current lyrics of ‘ Lancashire is wonderful ‘ if he blurts it out when Mum is around.

If being sung , changing the lyrics of the third line would be appreciated in advance. 😁

Must admit it’s a chant that makes me cringe. Understand why a teenage boy may enjoy it but the idea of grown men singing it is odd. It’s the sort of thing you’d expect to hear from a lad who’s never so much as touched a woman.
Footballs come a long way and now there’s more women and girls in attendance you’d hope the culture shifts a bit to to allow for it. I know my stepdaughters generation would find it a bit pathetic and frankly embarrassing.

As a post earlier said, it’s surely tongue in cheek. With the Muckers on this one, club need to get a grip. Next they’ll be moaning to the FA about away fans singing Blackpool is a shithole as being offensive to the home supporters. Still awaiting the clubs condemnation of away fans singing the ‘tangerine, tangerine song’ which has homophonic sentiments.

soon we will have to stop singing “tangerine tangerine tangerine” in case it is offensive towards bananas

Joke aside , the Lancashire song in question is a little cringeworthy

I remember taking my partner to a game and the song came up and I cringed a bit, only for her to say “well I do have those things so it feel inclusive to me” 😂

Not everyone is going to react like that though, I can’t say I’m fussed either way but you could just tweak the words to “Beer pies and Blackpool” or something like that. Not that the pies are much to shout about these days!

Chants always made me cringe ever since I was a kid.

I just don't get it?

You could insert any two words into that chant, why is it tits and fannies? What intelligent person would ever say, oh yes "I love Lancashire for the tits and fannies!", or "let's go to Lancashire cos they've got really good tits and fannies!"

Its not like Lancashire is especially renowned for those things either. Hasn't exactly put us on the map.

Needlessly crass, thick persons chant.

I must admit I have absolutely no problem with the chant, it's been sung since the 80s

My wife and little girl also have no problem with if as they understand that things get said and chanted at football that probably wouldn't get said in church or in the Trafford centre

People need to get over themselves and stop trying to be offended about everything and anyone and just enjoy life

We really have become a nation of soft lilly livered yogurt knitting freaks and this site has become a representation of it

I'm not a fan of the chant personally and always cringe when I hear it. I'm also not keen on the idea though to start banning things that some people may not like.
I don't know what the wording of the clubs email about the chant was which could range from a request not to sing it which is a fair enough request or a total ban on singing it and threats of removal if it's sung which I think is over the top and unfair. I would like to think we might have a look at ourselves though and think yeh maybe that ones for the history books or at least tweak the words.

Change the words to leftists and wokeists and all will be fine

Last season it was the gay bar chant and before that the tower/mosque chant

What next?

Maybe everyone coming into the ground should sign a disclaimer saying they won't say naughty words from the naughty words list then can be handed out before each game

Can’t do that it would make the current queues even longer 😄

Storm in a teacup. Sad to see some Muckers getting rattled but they have caused all this.

Need to get a grip of the kids taking liberties and the older crew ain't up to it.

Wait until they latch on to the taunting …… 'you’re only here for the gay bars'! The Duke and Duchess of Woke have a lot to answer for!🤣🤣🤣

Club are going down a very dangerous path with this one. It’s going to get sung tomorrow. A lot.

As others have said it’s inoffensive and tongue in cheek. If you’re offended by that, stop coming. Simple as really.

I agreed with their announcement last month about fan behaviour but they’ve gone too far with this one. Hope they don’t ruin the special atmosphere we have.
