The Summer Transfer thread. Critchley Part_deux.

Let's develop Jack for T'Rovers and send Brad Holmes to Timbuktu on loan. Sounds sensible to me. 🤔
Do you honestly think Holmes is good enough Insy?
From what I've seen, which admittedly is a limited amount, I'd say he's still a mile away from challenging to be a regular first team goalscorer tbh.
I know nothing about Vale so I'm not suggesting he's a better option, and I take your point re developing our own 100%, but If someone's not good enough then surely we need to bring better, or what the coach perceived to be better in?

Rovers forum is saying Vale needs to go out on loan, to try to recapture his promise of a couple of years ago, and that us or Derby would be perfect. They have a 19 year old called Harry Leonard who is now ahead of Vale in the pecking order. He looks the type who can play in the middle of a front 3 or as the 1 in a 4231. Just seems to have lost his way a bit but did get those 2 cup goals last season and 15 games at championship level.

I'm not certain because you never can be until you've given him a chance. He won't count towards the squad so give him a go early season. If he isn't good enough then we move on.

He got 3 short run outs last season and is training with the first team. He'll get preseason game time and a chance to impress. Critch won't just ignore him. If he's good enough he'll play.

Not sure he's what we need. Personally I think we need an established striker (e.g. Chris Martin) to replace Madine. If Critch has already decided to move either Holmes or Beesley on, then it becomes a different matter, but based on current personnel, I'm don't think Vale should be a priority.

Beesley might be the Madine replacement? Dunno. If Yates goes we need two new strikers, Vale looks more like a possible Yates replacement.

Yep there are a number of possibilities, and I think we just need to trust in the club to work out what's best. Personally though a Chris Martin or someone similar who's very experienced would be an invaluable addition to the squad up-front. Still hoping that we can hang on to Yates, even if that's only until January, but we'll see I guess. I would be annoyed though if he was sold below his market value whatever that is - consensus appears to be circa £4 million.

🤔 trouble is I'd think Critch would be loathe to put him in if he's unsure, sounds like a big pre season coming up for him that's for sure 👍

Here's the Layton Stewart story.
20yrs old, centre forward, 5'10".
Sounds like a replacement Jerry otherwise we'd have 3 of the same type.
"Stewart made a full comeback last term after a serious knee injury sustained in March 2021 stunted his path to senior football.

He ruptured his meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in Premier League 2 action against West Ham and spent more than a year on the sidelines."

He should fit right in.

They can pursue all they like to be honest.....Marv isn't moving to Barnsley. It'll be a championship club if anything.

So if Joseph comes in exchange for Jerry, i can see us signing another striker, maybe a loan, giving us Lavery, Beesley, Joseph plus Another. Martin would make sense for experience and variation. Squad shaping up.

This would make for a much better deal. Might also explain the delay

… but but but. Something had my spider senses tingling a little …

Pete O’Rourke is normally super, super quick in Tweeting out his stories. However there’s nothing on his Twitter or on Football Insider.

The last BFC story that I can recall him not putting on Twitter was the ‘Gary Bowyer to be appointed’ yarn … that turned out to be a load of old cobblers.

Hope I’m just being paranoid but …

A young loan would make sense. Could bring in Martin as well.

Remember when we went up to the Prem? We had DJ, Ormerod, Burgess, Dobbie, GTF, Bouazza, McPhee, Nardiello and more I've probably forgotten for two or three positions!

We also had Malaury Martin I believe

Why do we need another goalkeeper? Surely the Development keeper is fine as 3rd choice. Sign Jones and we'll soon have a "Moore" scenario, where one or other of the keepers is highly unlikely to see any 1st team action at all. We need a striker to replace Madine, otherwise the squad looks pretty full to me, and one capable of making a strong challenge for promotion next season.

If you only have two senior keepers + plus some kid from the youth/ development team then you only need 1 injured keeper and suddenly your down to an experienced keeper and a kid. If then, the experienced keeper was to get sent off or injured all you have is the inexperienced kid which is no good. So to compensate for this most if not all clubs have three senior keepers. Granted one will most likely never play’s/make the bench even but it’s about being as prepared as you can for all eventualities.

Fair comment, but do you seriously believe that an experienced keeper like Jones would join Blackpool on that basis? If he did on the premise that he's number 1 or most likely 2, what impact would that have on the other 2 keepers, particularly O'Donnell? The answer is back to where we were with Moore. Jones is not the answer - more an up and coming keeper from L2/National League, where the belief is that he will make a positive impact in the near future.

I don’t disagree

Nah, it’s Britt Ekland mate

(New poster and a random name so not reading anything into it. He was reportedly looking for a deal in the Championship after leaving Watford and also seemed to have the option of going back to Turkey)
Nothing random about the name zarkograb. He seems more ITK than you tbh. 😀

The worst case scenario is the development squad keeper has to play one game before the club can get an emergency loan in, and the odds of that happening are remote, I'd rather that the wage for a #3 keeper was spent on higher wages for a top forward instead.

Moore managed 26 minutes in 2 years, I think the club can probably survive 26 minutes of Bardsley in the first team.
