The Summer Transfer Thread - Part 1.

Alfie Devine (Spurs) looks a decent prospect scored with a nice finish against Argentina in the U-20. He is 18 and could be a possible loan target. He was born in Warrington and his dad Sean was a Rugby League player so could fancy a move closer to home.

I wonder if we can pluck another Wes out of the Irish leagues. Now someone who had his skills would be worth a ST on its own.

Dennis adeniran also released by Wednesday, I’m sure we were linked with him under critch in the past so reckon he’ll be someone we’ll be looking at
Yes agreed Wednesday fans were upset he was let go, I’m good mates with a Wednesday fan and he said he’d be great for a league one side challenging Top 6.

5 free agents, any takers,
Grant Hall 31yrs 6'4" C/B
Oliver Norburn 31yrs 6'1" D/M
Dennis Adeniran 24yrs 5'11" A/M
Ruben Rodrigues 26yrs 5'11" ST
Luke Jephcott 23yrs 5'10" ST

It's quite a good idea to pay to attention to stories like this, cos a high proportion are entirely fictional.
It’s Pete O’Rourke, who was correct on David Downes (eventually) but also gave us the Gary Bowyer debacle

As a rule of thumb, I always think the number of clubs being mentioned is probably in direct proportion to the likelihood of a story being a plant by an agent trying to stoke interest or drive the price up.

Yes, that also applies to some of the Jerry yarns.

I agree with you, just saw it and thought I'd share it on here because his name has been mentioned. As others have said, we don't usually sign any of the names we're linked to these days. Pete O'Rourke is one of the more reliable sources for football league transfers though.

Critchley to Al-Ettifaq?

"Former Rangers and Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, 43, is considering an offer to become coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, who are keen to land the former Liverpool captain. (Reuters)

Doubt the club would go for Ben, been out injured all season and was a nasty one. We need to stay away from injury crocks from now on.
And it's not just crocks (injured or otherwise, we should be avoiding). There other amphibions which spring to mind, too. What about rhinos and hippoes. I mean, they might make decent shotstoppers, but I think you'd find they'd both be a bit limited in the mobility department, especially as I realise we've now gone down a division, and although I'm by no means an expert on such areas, I just have this inkling their lack of pace would also be cruelly (nay, mercilessly) exposed, as well. And I don't think that would be a spectacle any of us would wish to see.

Very good, although technically Ron none of those animals is an amphibian

Rhinos and Hippos can run at 25-30 mph, I wish we did sign players who were that slow.😉
