Timewasting & referee timekeeping.

It's been mentioned by others but thought it worth a thread on its own.

I don't think I have ever seen more obvious time wasting by a goalkeeper and not even a warning given by the Ref.

2 minutes for substitutions and at least 4 minutes with the trainers on for injuries + continuous timewasting does not = 5 minutes added time. I'm convinced some referees are so unfit they are happy when time is wasted so they get a breather!!

Can ayone think of another high profile sport where the referee/umpire or whatever is the sole timekeeper? I think one of the best improvements that could be made in football would be to take timekeeping out of the hands of the referee.

Disgraceful refereeing!
Never seen a keeper take the p... like he did & never got warned or booked. Kept wandering up the pitch ( halfway line sometimes) before returning to take kicks!

Problem is the referee doesn’t care. Like you say, if anything he probably appreciates the breather.
Same with the diving, just easier to give them the free kick. Just give the safe option every time.
He couldn’t give a toss which team wins, just wants an easy life.

I think a separate timekeeper would be a better move than VAR, new offside guidelines, goal line assistants and a bunch of other "innovations" put together.

Separate TK could give 20 seconds before stopping the clock for throw ins, corners, goal kicks and free kicks. Each half would probably run to 55 mins but don't think that's an issue personally. It would instantly stop one of the biggest problems in the game

Shocking refereeing. The keeper was taking the **** all second half. Every time they got a goal kick or free kick the keeper wandered towards the half way line. The ref wasn't even looking most of the time. he was walking around with his arm in the air facing the other way for some strange reason.

It wasn’t a strange reason, it was because he didn’t give a💩

Absolutely spot on.

As I said on another thread, the keeper is a local lad who used to occasionally go on the south paddock as a kid.
Went to secondary school in Fleetwood and played for Fleetwood under Micky Mellon.
Still lives locally.

Very poor reffing tonight players will continue to waste time if allowed. The ref tonight took every easy option he had .They must stop this obvious timewasting and make some big decisions. Supporters of any team are fed up watching this with no punishment. Somewhere a ref.needs to yellow the offenders and then use the red when it happens again.I am not bitter just fed up wat thing it happen again and again

I hope Mike Dean saw how shit this ref was tonight.
Actually thought it was Mike(Tranmere) Dean reffing with a Mask on...and not just because of his ridiculous tolerance of their and in particular their keeper time wasting.
Having said that they just seemed to want it a lot more than us especially the first half.

The ref added a good 90 seconds on - best way to punish a time wasting keeper is to keep adding time on in the hope the opposition score!

Talking of time, how the heck did we only get 2 minutes added on time at the end of the 1st half? One of their players was been treated for at least 5 minutes.

The ref Was just terrible overall Sunday league at best. No punishment for all the time wasting. Gave them every decision even though we could see what tranmere was doing the ref didn’t. Some of their players should have been booked for conning the ref on numerous occasions
Hope Neil marks the ref 0/10

I pay for a season ticket and expect to see 90 minutes of football played on the pitch. Not going to happen as play has to stop sometimes and rightly so but that guy last night was just taking the mickey out of the fans and the reff. The fans saw through it so why didn't the ref. The reffs need to get their act together so that fans get their moneys worth.

The refs belligerence and ignorance to their time wasting nearly caused trouble at the end of the game when there was a bit of unsavoury behaviour behind the goal. ( I’m not condoning it by the way). I’m really fed up with the standard of referees at this level, I can’t remember leaving Bloomers this season thinking the ref had a decent game today.
