Transfer deadline day thread

Why is the transfer deadline in Scotland midnight and in England 11pm, has Nicola Krankie moved to CET in preparation for them to rejoin the EC?

The issue we have here is that it seems Brannagan’s realistic value is quite a bit below the release clause value.

More fundamentally, Oxford simply value him more highly than we do.

There's nothing that says they can't accept a bid below the RC, in fact since it was always likely to be a player + cash deal the RC is a bit of a red herring anyway.

Latest news just coming in
Gary Madine having medical at Barcelona loan deal with a view to sign.

Jerry Yates on his way to help Doncaster Rovers in their relegation fight.

Beasley homesick and has put a transfer request in.

Lavery not happy having to play upfront on his own, Celtic interested

😉

I think it’s a Rubik’s cube kind of a day and a lot will depend on whether some of the biggest potential moves happen, eg Brennan Johnson and Fulham’s Carvalho. Players like Josh Bowler have been identified as replacements for potential big ticket movers and, in turn, clubs like ours are interested in replacing/strengthening if the sale happens. A domino effect kind of thing is basically what I’m saying.

I think if you read NC’s comments on Bowler it’s pretty clear that the club will sell if their price for him is matched (and I don’t think it’s as much as £2m though it could get bidded to that). There’s no way he’ll sign a new deal with us and with only 18 months left we can’t contemplate letting him walk away for nothing so it’s either now or the summer for Josh to leave for a decent fee.

If asked to say yes or no to whether Bowler will be our player come 11pm I’d probably say no. But, like NC, I’d be very happy if he still is.
I think it's more of a Mousetrap of a day and hopefully the basket drops on somebody good before 11pm.

I knew it.😁

Fulham seem confident of getting Bowler.

Critch did say, on yesterdays BBC Radio Blackburn, that he is happy with what we've got and wouldn't be upset if the T Window closed
without us signing any more players.
Might have been 'tongue in cheek' though.

From the Lancs Live Paage:

Early days of course so take this with a note of caution, but Lancs Live has been told by sources not to expect any movement when it comes to Josh Bowler today.

As I say, things can quickly change if a club comes in with an offer that is worth considering but as things currently stand Bowler is on course to remain a Blackpool player.

Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have all been linked with interest in recent weeks, with the latter having two bids rejected for the winger.

We have made massive strides as a club but the whole Brannagan situation is turning into a bit of a joke. I've no issues with bargaining hard but there comes a time when it is either put up, or move on.

If we really were serious about him, we should have offered the release clause money and find out if he wants to play for us. We could then stop trying to look desperate and find a realistic target.

Lubala’s gone out to Northampton… can’t say I’ve seen that mentioned anywhere before so it proves the club is likely working quietly behind the scenes on any number of deals. The media aren’t always in the know and nor are they always correct.
Fingers crossed Bowler stays and Brannagan comes in

Brannagan is a very weird situation; Nixon tweeted yesterday that there may be a solution to both Thorniley and Brannagan swap talks for both clubs, which made me think that we might have a decent chance to get him in over the line (because Nixon usually isn't wrong about things)

I'd rather we didn't pay 500k for Norburn and just get Kilkenny in on loan and wait for the Summer to spend big on a CM like Brannagan.

Are we that short of midfield players surely some of our injured players can t be far off
returning to full time training.?

Not as bad as at the start of the month, Stewart's back in the picture, Robson's back from MK, we have Connolly and Dougall already.

Carey is out with a broken metatarsal, typically 8 - 12 weeks, he went off against Huddersfield on boxing day, so might be back in the picture towards the end of next month.

Virtue has a knee injury from March last year, I think there's been noises about him being back in training but he may still be some way off.

Ward has a ruptured Achilles, it's unlikely he'll be available at all this season but might be fit for next.

Stewart and Virtue are contracted until 2023 with an option for another year as well, Ward is out of contract in the summer, so there's a decision to be made there.

I see Bournemouth are being heavily linked with Todd Cantwell of Norwich, on loan until the end of the season, he would have been just what we are looking for, real talent but doesn't appear to be wanted at Norwich.

Spot on Lost.

Nothing wrong or right with release clauses, they often just serve as a balance when club and player have differing views on a players worth when negotiating contracts.

A release clause is an obvious incentive to a player and if there was a Blackpool player with a market value of £2m looking to get out of the club for £1m because of a release clause then I imagine many on here would be saying that the player was a James Hunt.

As you say, we can have the player if we can come to an agreement with his current club and the release clause doesn't change that.

Agree if the loan fee isn’t ridiculous.

I'm getting as sick of the name Brannigan this window as I was the name Simms in the summer.
There are far more players out there ffs

I see that Taylor moore is yet again out on loan this time to Hearts. A composed centre half whom wore our shirt with pride. He would be a great addition.
He’s been there since summer. Must admit I was shocked to see him leave Bristol again as big things were expected. Would like to see him in Tangerine again, was a classy and imperious CB and I believe a lefty too so would slot in we’ll as Keoghs successor.
Can’t see it happening though.

He does look good though. Definitely championship standard IMO.

Was also very surprised that Simms ended up where he did...

Let’s see where we are by the end of tonight.

Think we'll end the day with Norburn and someone in on loan with Nuttall leaving and Bowler staying.

Hopefully we can start negotiations immediately with him about a long term contract with a high release clause.

We're all but safe so we don't need to be rash so I don't imagine we'll have any late drama.

All things considered a window of Beesley, Dale, Kirk, Norburn plus a loan move for someone is great business, teams are more reluctant to let go of their players in this window and we've done well to bring so much talent in.
