Has Critch been spooked by the Seganti news? Or stories! Just a thought.
Critch will be out of a job before our club expires however.

No. Stevie G knocked on his door and the rest was history.
As simple as that for me.
That to me reeks of him letting everyone know he was still wanted here. Bit strange and insecure to raise that if you ask me.His quote ‘it’s my choice’ is a strange one? Who else’s choice would it be?
That will be the CamBran deal off now thenThat’s all there is to it. No fall out …. Just wet himself at working with slippy G
UndoubtedlyThat will be the CamBran deal off now then

More money less pressure I reckon
That was a quote from someone else, not Critchley it turned out.His quote ‘it’s my choice’ is a strange one? Who else’s choice would it be?
3x atleast, no relegation clause and will either be a shoe-in for the managers job at Villa if Gerrard gets sacked or he'll follow Gerrard to Liverpool eventually. Opportunities like that sort come round often for young British managers.Agree.
Probably being paid 3 times his salary here and he won’t be being blamed for poor results.
No pressure at all I’d say.
There are times in life when you feel in your gut that you want to do/try something and then the reality is very different. He’s left to get more money at a bigger club. No more no less.
The thing that sticks in my craw is he’s gone back to being a backseat man, after being the man at the helm of an entire club.
Ultimately tells me the man has no bollocks. And that tells me in the long run he was the wrong man to have in the hot seat.
If he only ever felt comfortable being a behind the scenes guy why the feck did he take our job in the first place. He’d have most likely progressed to the position he’s at now naturally in the same time span.
He has a heart the size of a pea.
Can absolutely see Gerrard replacing Klopp eventually and taking Critchley as No 2 with him. Villa, of course, dumped by both. There's no loyalty in football is there3x atleast, no relegation clause and will either be a shoe-in for the managers job at Villa if Gerrard gets sacked or he'll follow Gerrard to Liverpool eventually. Unless Karl Robinson replaces Critch….That will be the CamBran deal off now then
I see what your saying and if he came to the conclusion that he can’t carry on as a head coach I’ve two thoughts. There are times in life when you feel in your gut that you want to do/try something and then the reality is very different.
Critchley's reputation was as a coach who was excellent at developing youngsters. How much time do you think the manager at a club like ours (which still has poor facilities and a very small backroom staff) gets to spend on the training pitch with the lads?
One of the greatest assets any person can have is the ability to recognise their own limits. If that is what has happened here (and I suspect it is) then I understand his decision even if I'm not happy with it myself.
That quote isn’t real. His quote ‘it’s my choice’ is a strange one? Who else’s choice would it be?
Liverpool have moved on during the klopp years . They’ve done sentiment with Kenny dalglish. Can absolutely see Gerrard replacing Klopp eventually and taking Critchley as No 2 with him. Villa, of course, dumped by both. There's no loyalty in football is there

He has much more than tripled his salary. Basically he will now be financially secure for the rest of his life even if he never works again.Think people are reading far too much into this.
He’s gone to a big premier league club probably trebled his salary overnight yes he’s a No2 but no responsibilities no pressure.
S G obviously told him he would be returning with him to Anfield sometime soon.
It’s not rocket science really all these conspiracy theory's are way off the mark I think.
Spot on.Think people are reading far too much into this.

Would be surprised by this, as I’ve heard the opposite. The players loved playing for him whether they were in the team or not - he always made time to speak to them and discuss their progress.I had heard rumours that last season all was not well and there was a bit of a revolt against him by some players as not all (as you would expect) agreed with his tinkering.
I just took it as a rumour and that’s about it.
Now it makes me wonder.
Make of it what you will.
Still gutted though, but as they say - ‘onwards and upwards’
SG would go to Liverpool on merit not because of sentiment. I'm sure Liverpool don't need to be told that one. Not many managers win league titles but he has. He's still assembling a squad at Villa and, whilst he might not be elite yet, to write him off after one season is quite ridiculous.Liverpool have moved on during the klopp years . Gerrard is not an elite manager and no signs he will ever be .
Liverpool are top 5 in world
Stevie G nowhere near
Frank Lampard disproves that!SG would go to Liverpool on merit not because of sentiment. I'm sure Liverpool don't need to be told that one. Not many managers win league titles but he has. Football is not as predictable as that. What if Gerrard (and presumably Critch with him) were sacked by the end of the year following a bad start to the season for Villa? Can absolutely see Gerrard replacing Klopp eventually and taking Critchley as No 2 with him. There is a lot of truth in the old adage "everyone gets promoted to their level of incompetence". I've worked with so many ship's captains who were fantastic Chief Officers, but terrible captains, and lots of chief officers who were fantastic 2nd officers but poor chiefs.I see what your saying and if he came to the conclusion that he can’t carry on as a head coach I’ve two thoughts.
Firstly is he taking an easy way out and isn’t up for a fight to test himself to the maximum limits he could have taken his career, ultimately leaving with his reputation as a head coach on a high. If that is the case I’m not really sure I could get on with a fella that has that outlook on life, to enjoy not optimising your career and potential because you’re fearful is in my view, pathetic, especially as he had the chance to mould a club in his own imagine, what an opportunity he had.
Secondly, I’m not sure how he came to that conclusion. He took a League One squad to a comfortable mid table finish in the Championship. That takes some doing. Beating Fulham et al along the way. He did a fairly good job even if he was a bit off being the finished article.
The whole thing has baffled me, I’m not sure I buy the theory that the budget was being reduced next year to unworkable levels. There should be players on the verge of being sold that would generate revenue as well as incoming season ticket sales at a level to give the club an early shot in the arm money wise.
I’ve waffles on about this for the last 18 hours now so I’ll give it a rest.
I don’t get this trebled his salary or more. The coach he is replacing was, allegedly, on £750,000 per year, Critchley was on again allegedly £500,000. I can’t see Villa doubling the previous salary just because Gerrard wants him.Think people are reading far too much into this.

And we’ll likely never know how Quitchley felt about his job. There is a lot of truth in the old adage "everyone gets promoted to their level of incompetence". I've worked with so many ship's captains who were fantastic Chief Officers, but terrible captains, and lots of chief officers who were fantastic 2nd officers but poor chiefs.
People who are brilliant teachers don't necessarily make great headteachers.
Recognising that isn't necessarily a lack of bottle, or ambition. Surely it is better to self actualize in a less prestigious role than to suffer in a more prestigious one?
A lot of allegedly replies in that.I don’t get this trebled his salary or more. The coach he is replacing was, allegedly, on £750,000 per year, Critchley was on again allegedly £500,000. I can’t see Villa doubling the previous salary just because Gerrard wants him.
Sorry but not being, or pretending to be itk, I can only quote figures I have read. Although I don’t think they will be too far out.A lot of allegedly replies in that.
