Arnold too...must have been in the same era...Saturday morning school finished in 66 I think but they just added more hours on the week...and as for effing CCF...hated the place...no happy memories whatsoever...except in the juniors when Sir Jimmy took the occasional class and actually did some one offs coaching of our football team...Seniors ...it was Rugby Union..and I loved Blackpool Borough in those early days
but saw the light and became BFC.
For the record...seniors...left 68 ( at 17) to go to Liverpool Uni...but skipped year 4 in the Seniors as we were supposedly the bright fast stream...if only
Post Edit..our years Rugby team ( under 12s ) was possibly the worst ever....lost every game we played including ( god forbid) against non grammar schools. Also Remember playing Stonyhurst who ( had line out calls
) thumped us around 76 0.
In fact we only scored three points all season...my claim to fame( sic) was I scored them.Always embarrasing when Holgate had to read out the scores at assembly.I got booted off the team for refusing to run the line when injured one saturday...probably explains why I never made monitor let alone prefect...or it might relate to a cigarette incident and a ** of a French teacher post O Levels at Jodrell Bank...my only caning at school and on a Saturday when post O Levels you were exempt school that morning.
