Which is your favourite American band?

Queensryche but only around the Mindcrime and Empire period.

After that probably ZZ Top. And Hendrix, but I think at least one of his was British?

Beach boys
Journey
Foreigner
Bon Jovi
Chicago
Everley brothers
Righteous brothers
Four Seasons
Rosettes
Crystals
Guns “N”Roses
Boston
Doobie brothers
Temptations
The Byrds

Can I have Fleetwood Mac ?

I also like the Killers but looking at the posts I've forgotten loads.

I'll stick with Fleetwood Mac - if they count ? - and highly commended include Steely Dan, The Eagles, The Beach Boys and Simon and Garfunkel - if allowed ?

I'm sure I'll still have left some great bands out.

Far too many to pick just one. Here's a bunch that I listen to consistently and definitely in no particular order.
The Doors
Pixies
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
R.E.M
Talking Heads
Blondie
The Ramones
Hootie and the Blowfish
Grandaddy
Television
X
L.A.M.F
B 52's
Foo Fighters
Nirvana
N.W.A
and a few more on top.

A couple favourites of mine are American Authors and passenger, and if I feel like some emo type music, taking back Sunday, who I initially heard of from a video game soundtrack

In addition to The Doors and Iggy...
Edit: also Santana and Jefferson Airplane...

Television
Richard Hell and the Voidoids
Blondie
Patti Smith Group
Talking Heads
Dead Boys
... basically all the best bands in the early CBGB days.
There were quite a few rank bands I heard once and forgot though!

For some odd reason, I never really “got” the Ramones.
And I detest George Thorogood.

Looking at my record collection it’s a draw between Talking Heads and REM although Tom Petty runs a close second and is probably my favourite

Talking Heads/REM/Television/….here we go again, so many to choose from after 50 years of music listening!

Was quite into the likes of Wheatus and The skaterboy music scene at one time. Tend to be more american solo artists I like. Springsteen back in favour, but his early Astbury Dukes stuff has always been a fave.

Grandaddy are a great shout, just hearing the line 'Adrift again 2000 man' gives me goose bumps and brings back happy memories.
