Will we finish above Fleetwood?

This was a classic thread that I started on AVFTT a couple of seasons ago and hit quite a reply! Was scoffed at by some but two years on with new owners and an undoubtably stronger squad, what do you think?

I'd say it was touch and go. There isn't much to choose between the two teams and although I think we are going to have strengthened more than them in January it offers no guarantees.

They seem to have lost momentum with few additional signings whereas we have done some decent business and are yet to see the spoils of that. Think we’ll finish around 9th place and they’ll be 11th and so yes.

Sad to say I actually think this will probably be the benchmark of where we've come rather than whether we're in the Top 6 (which I realistically can't see!).

No. We won’t. More proof Grayson taking us backwards

I think we'll finish 8th and so unless the Cods finish 7th, I'd hope they won't finish above us. I don't think we'll get in the Play Offs but what we need is a decent end to the season to give fans a lift when it comes to season tickets.

Have just looked at the League One Table and I doubt very much we'll get anywhere near them come May. The only solace being even they seem well short of 6th place.

One place above them is my guess. Our games are getting easier theirs are looking harder. We have strengthened with intent they haven’t. We are superior they are inferior 😁

No, unfortunately I think they will have a good run now, finish just outside the playoffs,we will win a few, loose a few and finish mid table

Doubt it... we need to concentrate on finishing above Tranmere now. 😄

But hopefully we get some results soon and some confidence.

All things being equal, you’d have to favour Fleetwood to finish above Blackpool. Barton has had time and resource to develop his squad, they have a solid set up and great facilities.

Blackpool have plenty of catching up to do and I’d expect it may take longer that we expect, before we can brush off sides like Fleetwood.

I highly doubt it. As much as I don't like Barton, he has them playing decent football and doesn't have to try and fit 12 new players in, with fans after his head.

And that sums up exactly where we are - this should never have happened.
Not sure what you mean, when you say it shouldn't have happened?

Certainly the significant underinvestment and asset stripping that occurred under the Oystons should have never happened, but there's not much anyone can do about past history.

Obviously the current predicament is what it is.... A manager struggling for form at a time when the club is in a transition phase...So essentially we need to be focusing on the future and where we are ultimately going, rather than focusing too heavily on short term results, which are merely a passing phase.

At the eno of the day, either Grayson will turn it round or he will be replaced by someone who does....We as supporters have to accept that there aren't any easy passes out of League 1 and that we are competing with a number of established Clubs who have been investing for success over a number of years....It may take a few years to progress out of L1 and the supporters need to be much more resilient and less expectant.

I doubt it very much infact I think the 8 point gap will actually increase as the season progresses as we just can’t buy a win at the moment, let’s just pray to God they don’t get a top 6 finish.

In some ways it is irrelevant. We have been hobbled for years, they have had an owner who has spent like the proverbial kid in a sweet shop.

We've now reached a point where Pilley can't buy his way any further up the pyramid, and they have to do it on coaching excellence and playing ability alone. As do we.

And in relatively level race like that, our size, fanbase, momentum and history have to count for something.

We have played 12 games at home, Fleetwood have played 15 whilst the reverse is true of away games.

There's only an 8 point gap between us and I'd like to think we can turn those 3 home games (Sarfend, Tranmere and Notlob in to 9 points).
