Will you buy a ST if Critchley returns?

I may not buy an ST,
This has nothing to do with relegation or who will be manager.
It simply comes down to age. (mine of course, not the new manager 😉 )
Dark evening driving to and from game is not on. MrsDP doesn't like me driving when it's dark.
I more or less agree with her. (Didn't go last night).
Obviously I will go to all the matches played in daylight.
Where’s your bus pass Dave!
Have had some good use out of mine.
Senior railcard too.

I'll buy an ST, but Critchley would need an almighty explanation for his lack of communication on leaving, and then I suspect the fans won't give him/the board much more than a handful of games to prove it was the right decision to bring him back.
If a bit of lip service helps the fans get on board then fine but he won’t mean any of it.

He ain’t gonna go on full apology mode he will just say he loved his time here it was an offer he couldn’t refuse and it’s great to be back as manager with a club with a fantastic fan base.

For me, Critchley is a good coach, especially with regard to improving young players. However, as has been discussed many times before, as a team manager he only seemed to excel while having a seasoned assistant alongside him. Director of football may be a better prospect for him. Oversee the entire coaching side of the club while being practically involved in what he’s good at. The type of manager we need next season is someone young…and dynamic. Dobbie fits the bill. But if he was chosen, he too would need a Thompson, Calderwood, or McCall, etc., as No. 2.
Pretty much what I put on a previous thread. Bring him back as Head Coach with Dobbie as his assistant with a view to Critchley moving upstairs as Director of Football to oversee the entire coaching structure of the club. It's the same long term vision as when Critchley joined first time round. Thommo as Head of Recruitment/Assistant Head Coach. There is little or no loyalty in football, Managers/Coaches/Players come and go but I think that kind of arrangement would benefit the club.

For me, will be the ultimate slap in the face to fans. The man who left us in the shit with little or no regard to the club and where we were at, would be invited back with open arms. Like inviting an arsonist back to rebuild the house he's just torched. Not for me I'm afraid - of course I'll carry on going and probably will cost me more in the long run without a ST but I will send a letter to Sadler explaining why he has lost 2 ST holders if he brings him back.
Fans who buy season tickets whoever
coaches the squad gift failure to the board.

A boycott threat over Appleton may have brought another option who kept Pool up.

I actually don’t hold any ill will to Critchley for leaving. Who wouldn’t have taken a life changing role and salary? I would for sure.

But after the clusterfcuks of Grayson and Appleton why would you potentially make the same mistake again and leave yourself open to criticism if it falls out of bed

Why make an appointment that is going to divide the fan base from the off?

I would still renew but I really hope we don’t reappoint him

No, keeping my money next season. it's a sad day when your child just doesn't enjoy it, and doesn't want to go anymore. It's been a toxic season, and even under NC it was boring shite football. It's been just Hoof ball , head tennis, players that can't be arsed to give 100% this season. Poor management appointments, owner telling fans he's take full responsibility and bangs on about being the custodian but disappears when it goes pair shaped... Complete clear out at board level needed. Feel good factor destroyed the moment Grayson appointment, and just became toxic with Appleton and MM...

I was never critchleys biggest fan, clearly at the time in the minority, but 80 points and promotion in his first season, followed by a 60 points mid table finish tells you all you need to know

He was still learning, evidenced by some strange tactics in games, and he definitely benefited with a strong No 2, but he was headhunted and offered a huge pay rise. No real shock when he left - it's a job

Sorry if some wanted a heartfelt message when he left but I'd take him back - maybe with Dobbie in the supporting role.

Critchley was only succsessful when Calderwood was here. Having him back won't acheiive anything...Would I buy a season ticket?...NO. In fact they wont be getting anymore of my money untill there are big changes, and I cant see that happening anytime soon.

Good post, Beachcomber. I'm not one to pour cold water on what Critchley achieved during his time at BFC (it would seem almost churlish to do so after the key part he had to play during what was such a momentous period in the club's recent history) but I can't help but feel there has been a slight rewriting of history whenever his tenure here is being discussed. I'm glad you raise the question of the significant part played by certain back-up personnel during his brief tenure in the managerial hot-seat, as I don't feel this element has ever received the recognition it deserved. And I'm paying particular attention here to the pivotal role Colin Calderwood had to play.
When he first arrived on the scene we had made a decidedly rocky start to the campaign. I can remember looking at the League table (I think this was around late-Autumn), saw we were one place above the relegation spots, and thought to myself, 'We might have picked him (Critchley) up from a big club. but so much for choosing someone with no managerial experience...' And then, the next thing I knew, the club were releasing a statement in which they announced the appointment of a new managerial assistant at Bloomfield Road...' And the rest, as they say, is history. There was an almost instant improvement in our form, and, from the moment Calderwood arrived, we never really looked back.
There have been many things missing at Bloomfield Road during the 2022/3 campaign, but none more so than a quality No 2 to assist, guide and advise whoever is in charge. Get this right, and as the aforementioned example
shows, there is no knowing what can be achieved.

I don't think appointing Quitch would affect ST sales at all, the fact we are in League 1 will to a point. The problem will be that there will be a core of the supporters who don't want him as manager, like with MA and that is not what the club needs. If he starts badly or has a bad run then he is going to be pilloried because the feelings are there simmering away.

I would advocate a completely new manager, no one we have had before, the bloke from Grimsby would be a terrible move but there are plenty of young up and coming managers out there who will get us to play the right way and with no baggage. The other issue will be the recruitment. If we lose as many players as I think we will then we are going to need a lot of players and the last 3 windows have been awful, this one has to be exceptional. That and changes being the scenes, lets hope SS has his Mojo on full and is in the mood to sort it out.

Couldn’t care less about him not thanking the fans or giving a reason and explaining his departure.some really weird emotional wrecks on here.he was here a few years and was very successful in that short space of time, you’d of thought he’d been here 20 odd years and vanished without a trace reading some of the utter shite on here it’s cringe.

Critchley should NOT be re appointed imo
Season tickets x4 depends on manager recruitment, player recruitment and of course the price

What a depressing thread so called fans are putting more restrictions on buying a Season Ticket than a Prison.
Manager, price, board, players, owner ,pies,** Tea lady what happened to thick and thin lets be honest some weren't getting one for third division football and just using excuses.

You forgot the pies!

But as others have mentioned, without a good no 2 he seemed to struggle. And the constant tinkering drove me crazy, as well as not seemingly getting the best from some of the players.
