Wimbledon v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 27.10.20

If we set up to play positively then I have a good feeling about tonight. If we set up not to lose, against another poor side, then I fear we’ll see another poor performance.

Such a good opportunity with this run of 4 fixtures to get back on track.

Gonna be an away game for both teams I guess. Confidence will be a bit better. Think NC will utilise his squad. Going for a 2-1 for the Pool with Woodburn and Madine getting the goals.

I'd like to see Kenny Dougall given a start ahead of Williams if he's fit.

Williams has been better in the last couple of games but for me he just isn't good enough - good option to bring off the bench to try and sure things up.

Hope we finally change it up and go 3 at the back (I doubt it though)
Id go

Maxwell
Viking
Ballard
Marv
Mitchell
Gabriel
Robson
Williams (Dougall if fit)
CJ
Woodburn
Madine

By the way I think it will be nil nil or 1--0 either way if we play the same as Saturday...at least if we dont lose then NC will be able to say we were excellent and have been all season

That is exactly how I would do it too. Bar maybe Yates for Madine and Anderson for Woodburn if I was picky.

I really can't see Dougall or Gretarsson playing until the FA Cup or the EFL Trophy unless Critcn can organise some friendlies for the "squad' players.
But who knows?

I'll be surprised if The Viking starts the game. probably be brought on in 2nd half.
If we are winning by then. 🙄

3-1 to the Pool, first goal scorer Yates.
Follow that up with a win at Burton and we'll have the Perfect Three 🤞

Barring injuries, I would think one or two changes in midfield and attack. Another 0-1 score would do.

The Viking doesn't look very Viking like to me. Not hairy enough.

I think a battling draw would be a good result. Once reality has fully sunk in, we can start to build something a bit more progressive from our fantasy football league squad.

I suspect Robson will come back in, possibly for Ward. A lot of people seem very keen to throw Dougall and the Viking in despite having never seen them play. I think they'll get their chance, but only when injuries or suspensions allow, just imo.

I think we'll go with something like:
Maxwell
Turton
Mitchell
Ballard
Ekpiteta
Williams
Robson
Kaikai
Woodburn
Madine
Hamilton

The only other change I'd consider is Kemp for Woodburn - Kemp has looked very lively in his sub appearances and maybe deserves a start.

3-5-2 for Wimbledon is it?

Noticed they havent done so well in the last three games Burton,Hull and Shrewsbury (ok a point at Burton last week) but all three of those play a 4-3-3. Before that they played Swindon who arent 4-3-3 and beat them.

voy, that's why I prefer to call him 'The Iceman', but no one else does.

Crap at predicting pool results, but I can seee a dour 0-0 tonight.

Maxwell
Turton
Ballard
Marvin
Mitchell
Robson
Williams
Woodburn
Kaikai
Yates
Kemp

Take Ward out for Robson to have him and Williams behind Woodburn for cover and more deep lying playmaking ability.

Kemp for Hamilton so we can be less one dimensional in attack and have more fluidity to create chances.

I can't see Dougall being anywhere remotely near match fit, he wasn't even on the bench on Saturday.

Very similar team to against MKD, maybe one or two changes depending on fitness levels.

Just showed a 10sec clip on twitter of a couple of players getting off the team coach. THorniley has travelled.

Not confident about tonight, weather conditions and such I think it will be a miserable game all round.

Come on 'Pool though, prove me wrong!

We will do well to win 1-0 against a hoofing team whilst everything is still a work in progress. Remember Klopp’s first season he did well against the big clubs, but the system needed to be perfect before it started working against the bus parkers.

TEAM: Maxwell, Turton, Ekpiteta, Ballard, Mitchell, Williams, Robson, Sarkic, Kemp, Kaikai, Madine
