Without revealing your age, who was your very first favourite footballer? 🤔

Stanley Matthews.
I asked my Dad which team he played for and when he said Blackpool I said I would support that team.
Little did I know what lay ahead!

As a child I was mesmerised watching Stanley Matthews at Bloomfield Road in the mid to late 1950s he remains my all time hero. Since then Jimmy Armfield, Ray Charnley, Alan Ball, Alan Suddick and Tony Green have all been heroes of mine during my 65 years as a Pool supporter.

The fantastic Tommy Hutchison, and the whole Brazillian 1970 world cup team, who were such a revelation, who played footy in a way that hadn't been seen before, their motto was "you score four, we'll score five", in fact I bet most of us Oldies can still reel off the names of the whole team, their front FIVE players were..Pele, Jairzinho, Gerson, Tostao and Rivelino

Denis Law.

Remember watching him sent off at Bloomfield Road.
...me too..the sending off that is...got hit by a bottle thrown by the “ united scumbags”...some attitudes never heal because of it.

To answer the question...really difficult...Big Em, the king, but it has to be Sir Jimmy.

Great players in that Brazil team. One you don't mention is the scorer of their fantastic fourth goal - Carlos Alberto.
