Without revealing your age, who was your very first favourite footballer? 🤔

For me it's got to be Pele I remember him getting kicked out of the 1966 World Cup at Goodison Park with the worst cynical play you could imagine.

1970 brought for me the best the World Cup with that magical Brazilian side with so many great players and Pele was Pele ,
Totally agree - Pele would blow people away today as wpuld his team BUT we should have beaten them - they were lucky to beat us !
The answer for me is Birthsay boy - Tony Green 👍🍊

For our club that would have to be Alan Ball. However, I still think Everton turned him into less less of a flair player. Otherwise, Pele was my favourite. I was supposed to see him at Goodison Park in the World Cup in 1966 but some dirty bas@@@d from Bulgaria ended his involvement. Still saw the legend Mario Garrincha in his final game for Brazil though, I also saw Farkas' goal in Hungary 's win against Brazil, from Albert's cross. If you watch that goal, I'm on the terrace exactly level with where Albert crosses the ball. MEMORIES

I missed the 1966 World Cup by being just a couple of years too young. From what I've read, Garrincha's World Cup (and Pele), was 1962. Do you know?

Dennis Law the sight of the out stretched arm clutching the shirt cuff upon celebrating a goal

Again, before my time but that was a proper celebration unlike some of the modern day nonsense.

A few years ago, the Aberdeen council decided to remove all the silly "No Ball Games" signs to encourage the kids to get out there and play football.

They got Dennis Law - he is from Aberdeen - to remove a sign to publicise it.

Great players in that Brazil team. One you don't mention is the scorer of their fantastic fourth goal - Carlos Alberto.

66

As great a strike it was by Carlos Alberto, when I look at that goal all I think about is the final pass from Pele.

I've always been Maradona over Pele - that could have it's own thread that one - but that pass by Pele was so simple yet so sublime, if that is at all possible ?
