Wycombe v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 16.09.23

Maybe Dembele should have started after his previous performance. He looked a right handful. Hey-ho. Shit team selections here n there…. again. Yawn.

I'm expecting a rendition of "we controlled the game but didn't take our chances". We need to be on the front foot in every game, this tactical chess stuff is proving far to easy to negate.
Don’t forget he will mention the good “Moments” we had….trust the process my arse.

we were ok for the last haf hour, and we could say their first goal was offside and clearly offside, the Rhodes effot was definitely onside. Their second terrible defending all the way around. But even so and even the improvements glosses over some enourmous tactical problems.

a lot were blaming marv for his distribution, but it was just as bad today, slow predictable attacking midfielders are way out on the wing and very deep, the wing backs (ignoring the fact that connolly isnt a wing back in the same way a grand piano isnt a wing back) are just static and dont get fed the ball where they can do some damage.

we werent getting players into the box, which is the critchley way of old, any ball into or around the box has to be pinpoint and when our limited number of players in the box are outnumbered by 3 to 1 its just not happening.

defence looked disorganised, almost as much as under the apples, and we miss marv's recovery tackles and blocks.

Thought the subs gave us something extra and their keeper did a good job of keeping us out when needed. its not the end of the world but I do question what his critchyness is trying to do. As of old we are struggling to score, but our defensive organisation has been shot as well.

I'll throw in something else I'm not sure Norburn is giving us very much, you can put a lot of the bad defeat at Lincoln at his door, and yet Marv was the one who took all the flack, and he had in my view another if not a bad performance then a performance that generally makes us quite negative.

i am so pissed off i battered three players at chess. one guy started sending wind ups . so he got well battered . i finished with two queens on the park. made up for this dross. .

I will say it again 4-4-2. / 4-3-3 we have strength in depth now with this squad. As a former manager IH said
if you score more goals than the opposition you win.

And Colby Bishop scored for Portsmouth. Yes the one who failed a medical with us because he had a stye on his eye when he was 14 FFS!🤦‍♂️

I've had enough of this shit on here. Another Saturday spoilt & avoidable in my opinion. Pub..............................................................................🍻🍻🍻

AND the Creatures from the black lagoon are top of the Championship doesnt get any better does it. heard CRITCHES post match on LANCS, HE isnt happy at all. .

Glad I'm in Croatia on the beach. Still hurts the same though
Since when, exactly, was the experience of sunning yourself on the beach in Croatia even remotely comparable to the pain of seeing us receiving a 'bit of a mauling' at the hands of Div One 'big-hitters' Wycombe Wanderers?

Or perhaps I'm missing your point slightly ...

Several differences today than in same team win v Wigan. Main difference was that CJ hardly given one decent ball behind their left back to run on to. Instead ball given directly to him, which he can’t control and more so can’t drive forward so has to play it back at best, or most times lose it. No left winger. Very disappointing to say least.

Meaning even being on a beach abroad didn't much dull the pain of not only losing but playing so badly yet again. It's not cryptic.

Not long back (to London ). It was terrible. I thought with the Wigan and Barrow games we might have been getting it together, but not at all.
First half and beginning second half was particularly bad. The structure of the side is all wrong.Unable to play through the midfield or use the wings to create openings. Connolly does not offer anything much as a left wing back or whatever he is doing. If he gets it he will often just come back on his right and cross it. All too slow. Morgan had a lot of ball but just isnt good enough ( Charlton fans said hes mediocre). Pennington isnt comfortable taking the ball upfield. Beesley isnt good enough.
Subs after 57 minutes so even Critchley realised he had to take action. Dembele showed ability but where will we play him ? Carey looked better than Morgan and Weir ( anonymous) when he came on. Hamilton did nothing through the 90 minutes but somehow stayed on until the end.
Worrying, dont know where we go from here.

So CJ s cross near the end of the match that went right across the box that no one managed to tap in was nothing. . Passes to him only put him in that position to cross once or twice all game. No he didnt have a good game but he created the best chance.

In our division Derby & Portsmouth are getting big crowds so difficult to compete with them but Wycombe get less than half our gates and still rolled us over very easily. Something is fundamentally wrong at Bloomfield Road, we should be competing at the top end of the table.

What about the shambolic performance he put in for the other 90 minutes?

He put ONE good tackle in.

Kurt you are so anti CJ its untrue. Yes he was poor yesterday. So were most of the team. He is a winger. I was simply pointing out a matter you and the others CJ haters seem to overlook so easy. It was the best cross of the game.

It was his only cross. It isn’t a coincidence we have spent the last two seasons creating very little and losing games. He’s been a large part of that!

He is a ** rubbish footballer. Open. Your. Eyes.

Ok next to nothing.

Yes, yesterday we were League 2 standard.

exactly yet he picks CJ as a defender so why is it not Critchleys fault?
For me, there is absolutely no question that the blame for the shambles Critchley is currently presiding over lies squarely at his own feet. In fact, he's now boxed himself into such a corner he's beginning to resemble some poor sucker (spelt with an 'f') who can't tell his arse from his elbow. And, as an illustration, after persevering for an absolute age with playing CJ hopelessly out of position, why, after belatedly getting his selection spot-on for the last home game, did he revert to type for our most recent disastrous outing?

Sorry, folks, and I know this may come across as a bit of knee-jerk reaction, but, already, Critchley is starting to look completely out of his depth and so a replacement is required asap.
