Your first Gig......

501 WOW you just brought back a lovely memory for me of going to the theatre at the end of South Pier to see Freddie and the Dreamers with my mum in the 60s 😁 so technically that must of been my first gig.
My Mum took me to see Freddie and The Dreamers at The South Pier in the early 70s. We sat on the front row and I remember Freddie sitting on my Mums knee during one of his songs….made her day 😎

Joy Division 27/07/79 at the Imperial Hotel supported by The Glass Torpedoes/Section 25/Final Solution and OMD. ‘She’s lost control’ is the track that stands out in my memory.
I went to that Hadley and also the Buzzcocks at the Mecca. I just can't remember which one came first. I think it was the Buzzcocks but I'm not sure.
Whichever one came first was my first gig.
Can you help my fading memory? Or can anyone else?

Buzzcocks was before the Joy Division gig. It was also my 1st gig, Subway Sect support band.

Marillion at the Opera House. I fecking hated them at the time as I was, and still am, in to punk. Got 2 free tickets with feck all else to do. I thought they were good actually.

Carter USM at King George’s Hall, Blackburn around 1992 ish? It was a riot as a 13-14 year old……

Saw the macc lads at that venue last nite,a decent place for live music.👍

First live act for me was simple minds at roundhay park in 89,went with friends weren’t really a fan myself.

The Blades, 1964, with Ian Anderson, who changed there name to Jethro Tull, at the church opposite the boars head.

First pro gig was the Ramones at Lancaster University 1980.
I did see a lot of the local bands many times before this the most famous of which were the Membranes and Section 25

Showaddywaddy Blackpool Opera House, 2 years running, can’t remember the exact years though .

Wayne (Jayne) County and the Electric Chairs at Norbreck Nite Spot in early 1978.
Was at that gig, drinking at bar with some of the band after, one of the guitarists wanted to take my wife back to New York with him!🤣 We were rather over relaxed mind.

Guns n Roses at Maine Road, 1992, Soundgarden and Faith No More supporting, was ace.
Probably the reason I love live music to this day and have been to more gigs than I can remember👍

It was either the Stranglers at Lancaster or A Certain Ratio some where in Blackpool or maybe the JD gig at The Imperial. All a distant memory !

edit to add it may have been the Buzzcocks at the Mecca !

Battle of the bands probably 1981, the venue on the prom that was a bit of a heavy metal place, cant even remember the name of it.
