Fleetwood v Blackpool EFL Trophy Official Matchnight Thread 08.12.20

Maxwell
Gabriel Thorniley Viking Garbutt
Ward Virtue Robson Woodburn
Kemp Keshi

Nonsense making it 7.45. 👎

Might have one eye on it but that's about it - shame as it's part of our recent history.

Sims: Gabriel, Thorniley, Gretarsson, Garbutt: Kemp, Woodburn, Robson, Mitchell: Anderson, Lubala.

Matty Virtue to come off the bench in second half once we are home and hosed.

Meaningless cup with a big home match against Oxford on Saturday.

Hopefully players like Mitchell, Lubala, Kemp, Virtue, Thorniley, Howe, Sims, and Sarkic can get a run out because there's no use in going with our strongest XI.

2 players came off the bench late second half Garbutt and Anderson so will they count as 2 of the 5/6?
I'd start with them two anyway. Pick Maxwell and that's 3. Perhaps Ward and Yates? That would make the 5. I'd like the rest to be lads who didnt play Saturday.

Not possible without a heavy fine. Have to play 5 or 6 who played in previous league game .
It's four qualifying players, and lots of ways to qualify...

7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.

7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.

Gretarsson, Garbutt, Robson and Anderson all played in the last game. Kemp is on loan from a Prem club. Lubala, Thorniley, Garbutt and Anderson all have more than 40 first team appearances. 7 qualifying players in that team.

It will also be interesting to see how strong a side Fleetwood put out.
Imagine the psychological damage caused if our second string beat their first team

I reckon it'll be pretty strong. Joey wants to "put things right".

I’d play a very strong team in the first half and see how we go. Joey will probably do the same. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Robson didn't play on Saturday.

Best chance of Wembley trip
Prize money rises significantly in later stages
Game time for fringe players
This competition should not be spurned especially this year
Just been on the phone to a Lincoln supporting mate and this is a good summary of what we both said about this comp.

I guess it's just a sense of perspective... yeah... the FA Cup is more important and even more so the league. But this comp can be a bit of a platform if you do well. Adds much needed cash in to the coffers at very worst.

Demetri Mitchell seems to have dropped down the pecking order.
Disappointed Euan Bange hasn't got a place on the bench.

Poor Turts. He has to keep shifting position and will get pelters if he struggles at CB which is his worst position of the FB, DM, CB roles he covers
