Jake Daniels - every credit

Fair play to the lad. I've said for years that in this day and age no-one really cares. It's more about how you perform on the pitch.

However, now this has happened we will find out. I would like to think that most, if not all, of today's fans aren't so small minded and behind the times that they will make an issue of it.

Good luck to him, and well done

It is such a sad indictment that in 2022 Jake is effectively having to break a clear glass ceiling. There are clearly many gay footballers who are having to ‘hide’ because the culture in football is decades behind society.

Well done Jake on being yourself. - non of us are on this World for long so every second of it should be being ourselves and supported in those endeavours.

Takes guts to do, although less so than a decade ago I’m assuming when dinosaurs still roamed the changing rooms.
Hopefully it’s the last we will hear of it. Frankly i get why it’s news, just wish it wasn’t, and that no one actually cares anymore.

More importantly Jake, learn off the coaches and break into the 18 asap - that’ll impress everyone more as we need one of our own on the pitch.

It tells you all you need to know about the prevailing culture in football that this is considered to be "news", and people feel they need to describe the lad as "brave" - although he undoubtedly is.

It's no wonder Crouch made a specific issue of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Too many people saying "no one cares". I appreciate this is largely as a way of saying "we won't judge you on your sexuality", but it's too much of a sweeping statement.

Young, gay lads into football will care, representation matters.

Unfortunately there'll also be the other end of the scale where you'll get the dinosaurs on the terraces who will use this as a way to try and goad him

Well done to the lad, incredibly brave and admirable of him. It shouldn't be underplayed.

And I'm one that couldn't give a damn about somebody else's sexual preferences, to be honest I'm getting bored to hell with hearing about it. As long as he does the job on the pitch that's all that counts.

I would presume the interview was sanctioned by Critch and possibly Simon. If so, fantastic credit to them all.

Shows how we are evolving as a club under Simons stewardship.

Proud to be a seasider
Not sure why you think our Owner and Manager would need to sanction the interview but I am sure they offered him their support. The most important thing for Jake is to now get on with his life and do his utmost to make a success of his career which is ultimately all about his footballing talents and making the most of them and I for one look forward to him doing so.

Well done Jake, a star in the making and a top guy.
Where Blackpool players lead, others will follow 😍
The only way the elephant in the room will leave, is when professional footballers follow Jake's example. Although I don't recall many rugby toughies following Gareth Thomas.

Can only echo what other posters have said. Well done Jake and good luck with your career.
And to pick up on what BRR said, it is a little bit sad that he is described as brave when it shouldn't matter one bit what your sexuality is.

It really doesn't matter if he's gay or not

What i do feel surprising is that he would want to create a media circus around himself when he's just starting off in the game

Good luck to him though
It wouldn't be a secret to his friends and family, & maybe Jake grasped the nettle now, to relieve the mental pressures that inevitably comes with such things.
His announcement breaks the silence that exists in the game & many players live in fear of disclosure.
Good luck in your career Jake.

Not a bad point but it shows bravery, it's not like any older or ex players are coming out so someone has to start the process.

I’m actually shocked that he is the only gay professional footballer to have opened up officially regarding being gay.
That‘s a shocking indictment of how behind the footballing community is when it comes to sexual diversity and acceptance.

It really is brave, though yes it shouldn't be.

I hope he feels lighter and less burdened going forward, as I’m sure he will. As said above, nobody should ever have to live a life that isn’t true to themselves ❤️

Good on him, hopefully this will put him and the club on a new platform!

Hopefully as a club we can use to bring in more revenue and carry on the great community work the club has done since the scum left us!

Press interviews especially ones of such 'magnitude' go through PR. Im not sure how it works at the Pool, but I would have thought PR would have liaised with Critch et al as the interview was on Blackpool FC premises, not Jake's home.

Noticed he got his Adidas boot deal last week, did think at time It was a surprise to get one for scoring a few in the Youth team. Makes sense now.

Good luck to him, seems talented but without sounding like Roy Keane the focus needs to be football.

Making our badge with rainbows on Twitter is a bit much though.
